I have a 2006 CC 4x4 BT with PRG leveling kit.My truck has 25,000 miles on it and I have had the leveling kit since 1000 miles with no problems. In the last week,I've developed a noise.Every time I accelerate quickly from a stop or hit the brakes quickly,I hear a creaking/popping noise. The noise seems to coincide with the trucks front end dipping and raising with acceleration/braking.Definately sounds like it is suspension related on the driver's side.Feels like I can feel it in my feet when driving.Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

mine had the same noises. swaybar endlinks are known for this problem. also the bolts for the skid plate were stripped and wouldn't tighten all the way. removed both and problems solved. even handles better without the swaybar. i wouldn't remove it though unless you have aftermarket coilovers.

I have the same issue, the sound appears to be coming from the LCA sliding front to back..the bushings need to be increased in size, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

^^^^ oh yea the delrin spacer helps out with the pop or click sound.

Delrin spacer is for the lca's. It limits the play.

Had some bad popping and clunking as well. Happened after i installed my lift. Mine turned out to be tie rod ends had seized, from the angle i suspect and tightened the endlinks and noise is gone. Finally!!!! Was making me insane!!! LOL

Just installed my lift yesterday. I have the popping and clicking sometimes too. Seems i can hit small bumps and it just sounds like a smal creaking and popping. Its louder when the suspenison drops fast or is compressed fast. I don think it is hitting the coil buckts because i ground the lip off.

I was thinking it may be the Factory Rancho Struts. Did you gt the Bilsteins that work for a 2"lift?

Also how can i tell if the tie rod ends have seized?

Where can we get these Delrin spacers at?

Update#2

Had my truck at the dealer for the fuel sender recall today. Decided to have them look at the front end noise for a $49.99 diagnostic fee.I get a call from the service manager who says that the tech could not duplicate the problem. So I arrange to go ride with tech and within 2 min we here the noise. Tech believes it is the sway bar bushings and replaces them. The bushings made no change, noise still there. FF-I get another call. They believe the noise is now coming from the body mounts between the frame and the cab body. They explain to me that they would have to seperate the cab from the frame to be sure and that it would be very costly to me.Sounds like BS to me.I said no thanks, and paid the $49.99 and will end up troubleshooting this further myself.

What a let down!!! I was excited for a fix. My front end is also making creaking and popping sounds and I cant figure it out either. Mine started after I put on a pair of Icon coil overs, I was hoping it would go away when I put on my lift spindles a few weeks later and it didn't. I tried putting 3/4 turn into the preload rings and the sound was gone for one day but then it was right back!!!!!! I'm about to tie myself to my front bumper and have the GF drive around the block so I can listen for the noise.

Thought i would share my fix for the front end popping, maybe it would help someone else. I noticed whenever i would turn left sharply when i was moving or accelerate pretty good and turn that i would get a loud popping/clunking coming from the left front end. I checked balljoints and everything. Well finally i noticed some wear on the left swaybar to frame mount. The 2 bolts securing the bracket that holds the left side of the swaybar down had come loose and the bracket would slide up and down when pressure was put on the swaybar. Tightened them both proly 2 turns or more and they are good to go, no more noise!

what kind of noise would I get if i had a bad driver's side front axle? Would it pop and creak as the suspension loads under acceleration and braking?Reason I ask is if I grab a hold of it,I can move it up and down some. The passenger side axle is solid,no movement at all.still looking for the culprit..this noise is driving me crazy.

What part moves? The axle is 2 parts, if its the piece that goes into the actual differential after it bolts to the axle w/ the boots it sounds like a bit of a different problem. Like your front diff is goin bad. If the piece that goes into the differential is solid and you get the up and down movement from the axle portion where the rubber boots are then you probably have a CV joint goin bad there and would usually only make noise when your turning and moving. Would be more of a clicking noise as your driving. So it really sounds like you might have 2 diff problems.

Yeah the movement in your axle sounds like the dreaded Front diff failure.... I dont know if that could be causing your noise. when mine went i didnt hear any noises i just noticed fluid leaking from it. You might have two problems... check the normal culprits, swaybar end links & attachment bolts, transmission and differential mount bolts. Some people have had Body mount bolts be loose. Its crazy what ya find that would make these weird noises and how they can travel from one place and sound like they are somewhere else i have found that out the hard way tracking my popping down.

I have the same noise too and it just started out of the blue and I am not really sure what it is or where it is coming from but I took a can of WD-40 and sprayed every spot that moves on the upper and lower control arms and gave my coilovers a shot and it completely went away. I have to do this every 6 months or so to keep up on it but that popping and creaking noise was embarassing so try and see if that works for you!:eyebrow:

BTW I removed my front sway bar when I installed the lift and have cst spindles and dr coilovers on my 2wd xe cc.

Does your noise come more from one side or the other?Mine is like a creaking and popping on the driver's side. I have removed my sway bar, swapped srtuts from left to right and took the leveling kit off and back on.No change in my noise at all. Could the noise be coming from a balljoint or tierod end?How do you check these?

Drew, i have 5100's and new coils. The ends were stuck and i broke them loose and wd-40 the **** out of them, adjusted and noise is gone. Mine is prbly due to the angle from my lift.

10/4 ill check to see if that could possibly be the issue. Now the noise is starting to annoy me. I know it can not be the UCA contacting the coil bucket because the noise happens on the smallest of bumps in the road (asphaly has been patched, small diviots). Whats bad is that it doesnt do it everytime! It sounds like a thump coming from the dirver side, but my wife said she can hear it to and thinks it sounds like both sides. No noise on full turns to the right or left, aswell as going up inclines and declines.

I too have this problem and am very fed up with it. Whenever I hit the brakes going slowly it does the pop just about every time. I brought it to the dealer to have them check it out and and they said that when you put a lift on, you must swap the tie rod ends so that they bend inwards not outwards. I have yet to be able to do this because those things are a pain and I gotta pay someone to do it. I've run my truck for about 15k miles with a lift an have had zero problems until I flipped my coilover hats. I also removed my sway bar and spun it upwards so it sits right by the frame. I figured that when I hit the brakes, the truck dives forward and clips the sway bar causing the noise. When I spun my sway bar down, the noise was there, but not as often and much quieter. I tried removing the whole dam bar, but dam those bolts are too tight for me and my hand tools.

My next option is the lower control arm ball joints. The dealer said that its probly not that and the number one problem with lifted titans is the rack an pinion. With all of that, there's also the option of the lower control arm sliding back an forth...I'm at the point where I'm going to duck tape my video camera to point to all the moving areas under the front suspension to find the source. Or as stated earlier, just tape myself under there an have someone drive it ha.

FInally!!! I figured out what was popping and got it fixed! My wife and myself rode out to our land where i deer hunt and the rpassenger side had the worst popping and squeaking noise ever. Needless to say i was not a happy camper. When we returned home i started rocking my truck and it began to pop again. My wife looked and saw that one of the sway bar ends looked differently from the other and was moving around alot. Come to find out the passenger side was in a bind and not completely tighted down. Once i tighted it and got everything back in proper order there is NO Noise! Im glad thats the only things it was!

This is funny, I just noticed the same annoying creaking noise when I turned my system down leaving the gym. Turns out I have a full can of WD-40 calling my name..:teethmast

I have the same kind of popping, creaking, clanking noises in my front end, and Im just about ready to go crazy.
I have DR's in front with a spacer from Greg, PRG UCA's and sway bar removed. My truck makes noise when going slow, and stopping/starting off mainly while in a turn - I swear it sounds like the brake calipers are moving slightly, just enough to cause a slight clanking noise, or maybe it is the rotors moving just a hair, but both of those are improbable since everything is bolted down tight and torqued to spec - but thats what it sounds like. It could be the brake pads moving around a bit, I will check those out soon when I replace them with some EBC's, other than that though I can not figure this out, I guess trying the WD-40 route is worth a shot. I did notice that my steering joints seem to make some noise, there are allot of connections in the steering column down to the steering box - is there supposed to be some play in those connections? Obviously Im just thinking out loud hoping someone can find a solution, or at least a cause so I can stop worrying about it and just keep the stereo at a normal level. :hi:

It's funny you say that. I swore up and down it was my LCA's but I changed my brake pads yesterday, took the calipers apart and reseated everything and the sound doesn't seem to occur anymore. I'm going to keep driving around, but that would be very strange if that ended up being the issue...

I have an 06 CC with the Popping noises...VERY annoying and embarrassing...actually driving me insane!:bangit:

Started about 65k....I now have 104k on it....Started on the front right...then it has shown up on the drivers side...now I hear it all over the truck, mostly when braking or turning....anytime the body leans or sways.....I have checked all the body mounts I can find, and all is tight...I have checked the sway bar bolts, all tight...I have had it at (2) shops, and the dealer, but they can not find the source....I read somewhere here that there is a "hidden" body mount near the firewall???? I can't find it...but I swear it is body mount related....I can NOT hear the noise by rocking the truck or jumping on the step rails...only when braking, turning, and accelerating.....HELP...I can't stand this much longer....just for Sheets and giggles, I ordered new sway bar bushings....but I don't think that is the problem...Getting rid of the factory Rancho shocks and struts and going to Billstein HD's....I don't know what else to do....
