Anyone with suggestions?? I am currently going back and forth between our dealer and nissan help line. We have an 01 Maxima SE with a persistent part failure of the air conditioning termed a resister which in essence controls the fan speed. Initially was result of failure of the AC control head, however this was replaced and now the dealer blames the blower motor as the suspected culprit, but can't be sure. Although the resister is warrantied, they are refusing to replace it again until I pay to replace the blower. The kicker is that they can not gaurantee that this is the cause of the problem. At this point, the dealer is refusing to allow me to speak to the regional rep who is refusing to allow anymore repairs at their expense. Unfortunately, as I am at the end of my rope, we have a buyer for the car and it hasn't been repaired.

MAIN POINTS:1- Always take 100,000 mile extended warranty

2-NEVER USE WALLACE NISSAN IN STUART, FLORIDA- service people are clueless and unwilling to go the extra mile when not pushed.

3-DO NOT EXPECT HELP FROM 800 NISSAN ONE

4-DO NOT PURCHASE NISSAN PRODUCTS IN THE FUTURE AS THEY SURELY AREN"T STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.

If I could do it over, knowing what I know now, I probably wouldn't have bought my titan!!! Believe me, Nissan will pay on this Titan, one way or the other!! :bangit:

My point is, anyone could end up in this situation and realize that despite the fact that a resister has failed 3 times to date, Nissan is not going to back you if your warranty has expired, nor are they going to tell the dealer that he is wrong and re-evaluate the complaint. What gets me the most is the regional rep is the final word, yet to speak with him is virtually impossible. I to date have not received a phone call from 800 nissan 1 as promised in 24 business hours, nor have I gotten the car repaired. The only way we as a population will be respected by large corporations is if we fight back and don't accept their run around and denials.

Your "main point #1" is wrong. Every study I have seen says that most people don't get their money's worth from an extended warranty. Those warranties' value are largely based on the increased peace of mind the onwer gets knowing that they have additional coverage, even if that coverage is never used. Telling people to always get an extended warranty is bad advice.

I never take an out of warranty vehicle back to a dealer. Fortunately, there are several small shops around that do excellent work, at a fraction of what a dealer would charge.

It sounds like Nissan isn't going to pay this dealer for any more work than they should have gotten right the first (or second) time. I'd try another shop.

As far as extended warranties go, it all depends on what they want for it. I wasn't going to get one on the motorcycle I just bought, but it was hard to turn down a five year extended warranty from Honda for $375. I've seen some outrageous price quotes from dealers for warranties. Some of the dealerships even own their own company to manage them.

samuari1,

From your post, it def. sounds like you're frustrated-we've all been there.

I'm assuming that your car is no longer under warranty, and if that's the case, it sounds like you're stuck with the repairs. Or if the part (or some of the parts) are still under warranty, go to a different dealer. They may or may not help you. That's the beauty of automotive repair, someone out there wants your business and they're willing to work for it.

If you have a buyer for the car, all the better-be honest with them about the problem, and let it become their issue. Either way, good luck...

Neither will any other company if the warrenty expires. Nissan has been great...maybe you should just go to a different dealer

So you are unhappy, do something about it. Sell the Max, sell the Titan and go by a Camery and Tundra.

Nothing in life is perfect, and all too often it is the way a person acts and speaks to the dealer that influences how helpful they are.

Good luck, but as far as your #4 is concerned - go away...

I have a 2000 cavalier (that I will be trading in a couple months on the Titan) that had the exact same problem. I have had to replace the thing once already and supposedly it will continue failing every once in a while for the life of the car. Real pain in the a$$ to fix and its like $25 for a stupid resistor. If it goes again before I trade it, I'll just run the fan on high all the time. Sorry, guess I'm not much help. I feel your pain though.

Sorry about your troubles.

Either comp the new buyer to get the fix done themselves or bite the bullet and get the resistor replaced with the fan.

And don't be knockin my delicate titan truck you hear.

Easy there Drama Queen. I'm sure a new blower is a whole lot less than an extended warranty. Just buy the parts to fix it and be done with it, jeeezzz.

Another fine Nealio opinion, short, to the point and not politically correct. Now if we could just get politicians to be as to the point. :D

My reasoniong, although some feel that it is an inappropriate site for this is to make owners aware that the wonderful customer service Nissan boasts about is somewhat of a farse. To date, still no call back from Nissan one or the regional manager. No solution to my concern of "what will fix the issue", only an assumption. I like my Titan, no doubt, however, anyone off us can end up in this situation and is obvious others on here have. We as a community need to point out what dealers and regional managers refuse to provide assistance so as to avoid them and put at least a small dent in their business. Also, I have yet to have an extended warranty not pay for itself, this one we screwed up on and bought shy of 100,000 miles. Let me remind the small minority that are offended by my comments that I am one of the biggest supporters of Nissan products on this site as my $40,000 Titan is my fourth Nissan vehicle and probably my last.

Samauri you may want to try going here, http://www.palmnissan.com/ & it should be right in your neighborhood & these guys have always treated me well.
Regarding your gripes two things come to mind. “Now it’s not an excuse” but considering the growth Nissan is experiencing, a few hiccups could be expected & it doesn’t surprise me at all that service is in full-on catch up mode in some cases. 2nd , The timing of your problem places it in a gray area meaning more discretion may given to the service dept. than you would like. The Maxima now 4years old, under extended but diagnosis not cut & dry & several attempts to fix. What do you do? I would go somewhere else & see if the service manager will lend you help & at least offer a second try at diagnosing the problem.

Going in with an attitude is not going to help. Just bring it in, describe the problem not the history, let them key in the car & see what they can offer. Good Luck

As to the nealio, from a drama queen perspective, all I can say is your clueless! This has got to be your first car kid because you haven't a clue what repairs cost, at least not automated climate control related issues with ghost presentations. To date our warranty has paid for over $1200 in airconditioning condensor and related issue and a cruise control switch for $250 and a window switch for approx. $150. Plus 2 catyletic converters and multiple car loaners. Do the math if you can, they pay off in most cases...drama queen!

having delt with Nissan on getting rid of my Titan, which I thought would be great as the tree other cars but then that I have owned were great, I would suggest as well that you try a few different dealers. If that does not work, keep calling 800 Nissan - tell them that no one has returned your call and bug the hell out of them, that is what I had to do.

Also, put stuff in writing and mail it to Nissan, and file complaints with the BBB and the Dept of Consumer Protection, and the biggest thing I have found with dealing with the dealers, save those surveys that Nissan mails out after service. I have found that it really pis*** the dealer off when you send it back with an honestly negative review.

As far as the extended warrentee thing - I agree that they can pay for themselves, but one thing alot of people do not realize is that you can purchase one at anytime as long as the vehicle is still under the original factory warrentee. They also do not realize that they are more like an insurance policy, and if you have issues that you get rid of the vehicle, you will have the extended warrentee prorated, and will not get back all your cash for it. My next car, I willl buy the extended warrentee just before the regular one runs out.

Good luck with it, I hope it works out for you!! BTW - I was not offended by anything your original post said, infact I agreed with much of it. :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi:
