1) do you top off your tank? if yes - STOP doing that.
2) do you live on dusty or dirt roads or drive on them often? (or deal with a lot of sand in winter time)?
3) Are you getting code p0455 or its ilk?
4) has your mileage dropped?

it takes about five minutes to replace this if its shot. it is on the left side of your canister as you are looking forward from the back of the truck (just inside the left tire, forward of the axle)

or you can also remove yous and clean it out. mine was beyond repair/fix/cleaning.

 

You can pull your purge valve and hook it up to a a 12V source to make sure it is operating, and also blow some air through it to get gunk out and see if that solves your issue.
I can tell you that I had the gas tank click off after one gallon or start to spill before I changed mine out, and since I have changed it out...it hasn't happened again.

No, I am saying that you can take the valve out. hook it up to a 12v source, to see if the valve is operating when it gets power...

 

I replaced purge valve with a new one and its getting voltage.

If you did the purge valve, the hoses are clear (see below, this is an edit), then perhaps the vent valve:

and then maybe it is your canister...see below.
Also maybe worth checking with a scope or something if there is something blocking your fill tube.

not sure why the sensor failing will cause the filling issue you are having.

not sure if this would fix your problem, but I would check to make sure that the hoses connected to the purge valve are clear of everything. ummm...maybe have to go with replacing canister.

So since it didn't happen in the first 11 years or 260000 miles... That tsb doesn't apply.

It does outline the evap system nicely.

As i stated, if you've done those things I would start checking the vent lines for a blockage. But nissan isn't going to do anything because the tsb doesn't apply.
