Hard Wiring my Valentine

Does anyone know where I can hardwire my Valentine? I have the cord running behind the driver side pillar and under the dash, coming out just next to my center console...

But I want to hardwire it to free up one of the "cigarette lighter" spots.

What I need:
- 1 wire below the driver side dash that has 12v when the key is turned "on"; but doesn't have 12v when they key is in the off position.

You can just splice it into the back of your cigarette lighter if you already have it coming out there...

What's the best way to get back to the cigarette lighter?

I was able to get the center console out (not dash) but the one with the cup holders. I can get to it, but not well enough to see what I'm doing...

I attached a picture of basically what I have. I guess it's somewhat of a "piggy back". There is a wire clamp the splices into whatever wire I decide to use and then that runs to the Valentine.

The cigarette lighter seems like the best idea, mainly because I don't know where to start with the wiring below the dash...but like I said, I'm just not really sure how to get to it.

Not sure if the 05's are the same as the 08's, but once you take the center of the dash off, you should just be able to reach around inside the dash and pop it out from the back by pushing it towards the cab...

i can tell you what i did to hardwire my valentine in my 04 titan.

i took the fuse adapter that they give you and cut a piece out of it so it would fit in one of my fuse slots.

i found a fuse that my truck didnt need but powered anyways. for me it was the heated seating fuse... i dont have the heated seating so it was perfect.

i took the fuse out and stored it and slid the trimmed metal plate in.

i took off the handle on the a-pillar and then removed the plastic cover it anchored down. i ran my non curled cord, that came with the valentine, down the hole in the side of the dash there because it goes right to the fuse box.

i plugged it into the fuse adapter and ran the other end up along the a-pillar so that when i put the plastic cover back on you wouldnt see it. then i stuffed it just inside the carpeted roof cover at the windshield. you can just pull that back and stick it in there because the cord is small enough to fit there. there is a finger slot in the very middle of it above the windshield by your mirror. use that to pull it down enough to slide the cord in.

i made sure that the extra cord was wrapped up and i put it behind the dash in that hole between the a-pillar and fuse box.

all together it took me about 3 or 4 minutes to do.
the hardest part was getting that folded cord to fall straight down the space to grab it by the fuse box.

i hope this isnt too late to help you because reading what you were going to do sounded difficult.

Try this... Invisicord Products Home Page

I originally bought the invisicord for use with my Valentine in my Infiniti M35. I have found out that it works in my Titan as well. It wires in to the auto-dimming mirror harness. Just a little trial and error to figure out the right wires and it works great. Make sure you get the one with the smaller leads.

Depending where you have it put.. I use the wiring for the front vanity lights on the overhead console for a few devices and it works great since its set it and forget it for low drain applications.

I have mine wired to come on and off with the ignition. This works well for me. I also have the concealed display to prevent being shown at night. My only complaint is that when I start up I feel like everything starts screaming at me. I wish I could put the V1 on a 3 second delay or something of that nature.

I ran mine like Tomcats.
I use an old valentine that is hard mounted to one of the large convex mirros so I can all around the truck in a glance. I ran the wire under the headliner to the passenger a piller and down to the fuse box.

Pretty simple and took minutes. Pulling the A piller makes it cleaner and I used a key on fuse so it's not a drain.

I always hardwire my electronics to keep clutter down and it keeps me from forgetting to turn them on or off.
