Is there anyway to defeat the throttle tip in under 3000 rpm?

I am tired of flooring this thing and not letting me get full power until around 3k rpms. Is there anyway to defeat the throttle by wire programming and allow me to go full throttle in first gear? I just came out of a 6 speed 2002 Z28 and although this truck has some power it doesn't allow you to have all of it. Kind of makes me mad to spend this money on the truck and the ecu won't let you drive it like you want to. I know with my Z they had the hypertechs(sucked) and the predators but is there anything like that for our trucks? Thanks! Been browsing the forum for months and finally joined.

I know what your talking about Stock, mine seems to "hesitate" if you romp on it and then really wake up around 3K. Only thing I can think of is an ECU reflash. Allot members here have no problems with the "tip in" issue as ToyPulr mentioned.
Who and where can I get that done? I was use to my Z and I need a little bit of smoke from my rear tires. After all we paid for it and I don't like the companies making driving decisions for us!

Currently I don't know of anyone that has tweaked the ECU code for the Titan. I'm actually looking into why some of us have this problem and why some of us don't. So far I've only found that there are 5 different version's of the ECU for the Titan - depending on package. My thinking is that the code is tweaked differently for the version's but without the actual ECU code there is no way of knowing.

try pushing the throttle 3/4th's of the way down then full open throttle after 2nd gear. The computer needs to "sense" the urge for the power IMO.

just be patient, im sure somebody or some company is working on this. people know there is alot of power to be made in the 5.6 with computer adjusting. maybe it will take another year or so. but some money can def be made by the first person to come with a new ecu programer.

Just ticks me off that we aren't allowed to do with our trucks as we please. My wife's Pontiac Comp G does the same thing to save the tranny. It has a supercharged motor with 260hp but the ecu only lets about 240hp get thru or else the tranny will puke. Maybe Nissan is worried about the trannies puking. Just a theory.

I tried mine and I have no complaints. This damn thing has more balls than the Boston Red Sox locker room! I get full power from a standstill (I did pay attention this time) and lights both wheels up without a glitch. I cant imaging complaining about the power from this truck. maybe mine is mapped differently? I have the 4X4 crew cab with OR and BT and Utility.

The only time I get anything like this is when I have the VDC on and the tires break loose. The computer drops the throttle to stop the tire spin and then gives it all back to me and I have smooth acceleration all the way up the RPM range till it shifts. With VDC off I get a decent tire spin and good acceleration.

I've got 4x2 with Off-Road and Big Tow packages and the stock wheels & tires. Maybe the lower gear ratio I have has something to do with it? I'm not real familiar with how gear ratios figure into the power band, but I did notice while reading the postings above ther were posts of no complaints from guys with the BT and/or OR packages. Both of which give the lower gear ratio.

I've noticed this. My truck feels stronger if I roll on the throttle instead of standing on it. It feels as if...

1) The throttle isn't opening all the way
2) The ECU is pulling timing
3) The ECU adds too much fuel when you step on it, and it bogs.

It has been getting better the more I've driven the truck, it seems. Either I'm getting used to it, or it isn't as noticeable.

hi guys,

I'm trying to buy a CC LE and the one I drove had the tip in but 2 others didn't. The month of production were all 9/04 but it must be a different day they built it. the salesguy and his manager thought I was crazy but I was with my friend and he could tell the difference too. We even went in another truck and it didn't do it. Just happened to be the 1 I wanted :ugh:

smoke is so hard to find in So Cal.

Did they all have the same packages?

Spin the tires? Who can do that? Mine acts a little flat on power from a start, spins a tire about half a turn, and that's it...and yes the VDC is turned off.

Has anybody drove around with a scanner hooked up to see the difference between the requested amount of throttle, and the actual throttle given by the ECU?

I have a OBDC2 cable that I can connect up to a laptop and it will give me this info.

My titan only has 700 miles on it so once it is broken in I will let you know what I find.

Did that today in the parking lot at work. Turned the wheel to the left and laid down a 360 of rubber, both rear wheels. Smoke everywhere, hot tires, ahhh I love POWER!

My truck must be a dud or something... Spin my tires from a standstill?? Not happening, i'll get a churp and it just hooks up, I would love for them to spin. Around turns, yea but only one spins, then it gets turned off and I take off. My abls works too good or something. I have 5,200 miles on it and use 92 octane so it's broken in. I have a Crew Cab 4x4, tow and off road. I couldnt power brake my truck either!
