A friend of mine who is supercharged and tuned running his stock transmission at 402rwp and 430lb had an interesting conversation with IPT and LEVEL10 through a conference call. According to him, level10 came to the conclusion that the IPT upgrades are of better quality and endurance. I myself am having the level10 parts installed in my trans right now. He is going with the IPT route. if this is true then all of us titan modders face 2 choices. stay at under 430-440rhp 440-460lb or keep swapping trans, or go the 10,000+ dollar route that toomany and dodgehimi have gone. Even with all the trans coolers and deeppans, lp mods and 7 vice 5 clutch packs and shift kits, it is all limited by the clutch packs that fail. Hopefully between IPT and Level10 they will come together to try to figure out what if anything we can do to break this limit. I myself will keep pushing the envelope till trans falls off, then reinstall my old trans and call it a night. If anything else comes up il update.:read::read::read:

I don't care what anyone does to the Junkco transmission, until there's a way to TUNE it, you'll always keep breaking them with modest power levels. RPM transmissions can build a 4L70E that is rated for 600hp, know how much it costs? $2800 bucks and they even pay for shipping of your core. You know how much a bone yard 6L80E is? Around $1000-1500 and even it's stronger in stock form than a built Jatco......because you can tune it. That's the one thing that keeps me from going back to a Titan and looking VERY hard at a newer Silverado or TBSS.

Now with all this being the case, simple tuning would fix the problem? cause if so then maybe im researching the wrong things. And if im correct the TCM is inside the trans, so why has no company tried to flash the tcm or made a standalone system like stillens supercharger computer? I dont know much about trans but i know a little about wiring and its really not that hard to drill a hole for some heat resistant wires to a standalone system. But right now im really at the mercy of the 2 choices i talked about earlier. I will try to dyno as high as possible but will not run above 430hp.

You have to be able to control the shift timing, part throttle as well as full throttle. Line pressure at all rpms. Shift points etc. It all plays a very important role in enabling today's modern automatics to survive with heavy loads pressed upon them.

These numbers come from guys like toomany who has gone through more transmissions than any of us. And my buddy with the superchager who has dyno numbers to prove. And you can gut your titan all day long and get whatever traction tires you want. But if you ever meet me on the street in full trim i doubt you will hold a candle when I get my tune back from uprev.

Il race regardless of who says what. Ive been modding since i got my truck in 2008. But being in the Navy you get Deployed, and go out to sea, and dont have time to take your truck to the shop and deal with trans problems or wait for track days to data log. People get sick, i didnt pick to get sick on the last track night at qualcom, Shea brought me his tires and i didnt show?!? thats not the kind of person i am. I payed 100$ to get out of duty that night and didnt show?!? so when i go out to Coronado straight with police scanner for a challenge cause i didnt make it to the track, no one answers up? im not even trippin about it, i race track just like you. But everyone knows $h*t happens and doesnt work out. and thanks for threadjacking, really make people want to help out with the trans problem. So if your running 13's now all motor, you could be running low 12s or high 11's with nos and meth at the track, and you will blow your first trans then realize why i spent this much time trying to figure this out. Thanks alot guys real classy.

The more info we have, the better.

Any research and feedback you can provide is much appreciated.

My truck is in the shop right now, im getting the fully built level 10 trans aside from the vb upgrade im using transgo. Too bad i found out shortlz after that the IPT trans is the better of the Two trans. regardless they still fail. I think IPT gives the option to add more clutch packs and they might be working on a way to tune the trans. I have to talk to my buddy with the supercharger and find out what option he is going after talking to level 10 and IPT.

I've gone to both shops, talked with the owners of both shops and have used both of their products in my tranny. I would hands down go with Level 10.

#24 ·
why is that? level 10 agrees that ipt uses stronger and better parts, they also change out more parts then level 10. Im still using level 10 but why do i keep hearing that ipt sucks?

From experience and talking with both shops. A specialty shop that does builds for the diesel crowd saw the TC from IPT and said it was junk. Level 10 did not speak highly of IPT when I was talking with them.

That doesn't mean much due to the fact they are competitors.

I have the IPT trans in mine. I know im not the original owner but I do know that I got this truck with 6x,xxx miles on it and it now has 108,xxx about to hit 109k. I have been to the strip a lot with it while in Alaska, done 4wd launches, played in the snow, driven it from North Carloina to Alaska in 4 days(a total of a bit over 5000 miles), driven from S. Carolina to Tampa multiple times and this tranny feels just like the day I picked up the truck. Shifts crisp and hard at WOT but is easy at part throttle and you would never know it was there. I have beat on this truck probably more than the previous owner and the tranny just keeps taking it. Since I got the Mustang, I have stopped racing the Titan and have been a lot more easy on it. ***Knock on wood** I think this tranny will hold out until A) I decide to get rid of it(which might never happen) or B) until the truck rots from old age.

Here is my .02.

Heat is the number 1 enemy of an auto tranny.

1. Buy a huge tranny cooler and mount in FRONT of AC. Bypass radiator cooling completely.
2. Get the PML extra capacity tranny pan.
3. Run Amsoil tranny fluid.
4. Use some kind of shift kit (Transgo?)
Also, when abusing the tranny back off the gas once in a while. Nothing is going to hold up to constant longterm abuse.

geez...firelife/tug at it again. let it go guys. For some reason whenever i open a thread to read...i scroll down and see either the two of you posting..there is always an argument that follows shortly. lighten up some guys. its just modding trucks. I know im coming off as a jerk, but there really should be a warning before you enter a thread "Firelife/Tug Posted in this thread"

Thats all i have to say lol

if you don't have a timeslip then basically modding your Titan is a waste of money....thats what I get out of hearing people talk about the dayum track all the time and timeslips...

maybe the people who have these timeslips that are really fast, don't have a camera lol.

do you think Dominick torreto cared about time slips? NO! he always took it to the streets. living his life quarter mile at a time worked for him. for those 10 seconds or less nothing mattered...not time slips... not one wheel peels... not trying to upgrade is 06 to an 07 manifold...not trying to compare stillen lts vs DTLTs...not the 3" y pipe from his banks CB...not the CIS in his exhaust...not the infamous clicking noise from hell from his dashboard...not the engine knock/tick from his high mileage motor...not changing radiators like underwear....and def not arguing about how fast his pick up can go on a track over the internet. just sayin.

Dom also had a 1968 blown Hemi Charger R/T known as "The Beast". So really, not too damn many cars are gonna be fvckin' with that.....lol.

"You think that was funny?"
