You know, considering you were at a dead stop when you were rear-ended, the T did a GREAT job absorbing the impact in the frame and not letting it crush into the cab where you could have possibly had passengers in the back seat or something. Makes me feel even safer driving my T! I'm glad you are okay, and I hate that you are having a run in with the bad luck...

If you look at the pic of the folded up bed you can see that it looks like Nissan intended for it to fold like that. They even put relief cuts in the utili-track at the same spot it bent. :teethmast

That looks eerily similar to the accident that totaled my 06. Lots of frame damage but not much body damage. Initially they were talking about putting a new frame under it but eventually they totaled it. Good luck and I'm glad to hear you are alright other than your wrist.

Glad your ok bud! That sucks about the titan, You never know what the Insurance companies will do. I would want it totaled but you never know. Hate for them not to and have issues down the road.

thank you all,
i just got back from the bodyshop with some pics.
frame can not be repaired. it would require a new frame, but it's not worth it, so the shop wants to total it.
but gotta wait for the insurance.

some of the pics with the cab, you can see some red marks that the shop put on there, that's where the bed hit the cab.
on the frame pics, most of that is supposed to be straight.

won't be getting a titan for another year or so, when the 2014s come out.
word on the street is they will have a new engine and better fuel economy, so i'll wait till about july 2013, then harass my dealer for a new one.
till then i'll be driving a jeep wrangler most likely, or an 05 corvette if my girlfriend lets me buy one.

anyway, i get my car towed to the bodyshop, and call her insurance, they tell me that the lady hasn't paid on her insurance for this month, and was cancelled the day before the accident, i'm PISSED, call my lawyer (damn good lawyer) he called the insurance company, not sure what he tells them, but the insurance company calls me back, and tells me that they will be responsible for all the damages on my truck.

I think this is a fairly common tactic. Some guy ran into my Tacoma years ago and his insurance company told me the same thing. I told them I was a lawyer and would be filing a "bad faith failure to pay" lawsuit and then they immediately sent me a check.

i understand what you mean, pretty much what happened with me, except that my lawyer actually called them.
there will be another round of play once they decide to total it, and we have to argue over how much they owe me.
but not a big deal since i have GAP.
