1st time poster on this forum...won't be the last for sure...
I don't even have the truck yet....but this Saturday I will.

anyway.

Everywhere I read that the Titan will tow 9500 lbs when properly equipped.
What do they mean by "properly equiped" ?
I have the tow package with no other modifications....will it still tow 9500 lbs ?

also....are the gear ratios standard on all Titans (xe,se, Le)

Thanks in advance...

Some Titan's are rated to tow 7400lbs. The Big Tow option is rated to tow 9500lbs. The BT models have extendable mirrors and a transmission temperature gauge. Those are the easiest features to look for when scoping out a Big Tow Titan.

Thaks Blavis, I'm assuming that the BT package probably includes oversized radiator etc....
is that correct.?.
besides the extendable mirrors, what other fail safe way is there to determine if I have this BT package (by looking at it)

trans temp gauge in the dash, should come with hitch as well. You will have a lower gear ratio in the diff as well. (not that you can just see that but you did ask if gearing was standard on all models) welcome to Titan Talk, lots of good people with plenty of knowledge.

Thanks guys.
From what you both have said, it looks like I have the extendable mirors and extra temp gauge....
one last question on the topic..I promise...

What will the rpm's be at 60 mph/100 kph on level ground when NOT towing anything....

approximately....

at 70 i run about 2k in the rpms. so 60 would be a little more then 1500 id say? someone else will chime in hopefully, cause im not too sure....

Couple of notes...

All Titans get the same cooling package, including and auxillary trans cooler. The Titan is know for a real good cooling package.

The max tow rating of 9500 lbs is with only a driver weighing 150 lbs, and just 1/2 of a tank of gas. This may seem odd, but most truck manufactures use a similar standard. This is still a 1/2 ton truck, I wouldn't tow more then 6000-6500 lbs, and this tow weight leaves some payload for the truck itself, but there are guys here towing closer to 7800-8000...I just don't believe in pushing my truck that hard...IMHO.

Tow in 4th gear unless the trailer is really light and on flat ground. Don't be afraid to drop down to 3rd gear and 3500-3700 rpm up hills/grades.

You mention LE but not which LE. No LE has a 9500 LB towing capacity. 9200 would be the highest for an LE KC 4X2 or even the CC 4X2. You can go to Nissans site and it'll give the ratings for each model. Basically, take off 100 LB towing capacity for 4WD and for LWB trucks. So you'd still be, at the very least, in the 8900 LB rating. More than enough. Gear ratios are standard on all Titans equipped with the tow package 3.36:1, otherwise it's 2.94:1 ratio.

Unless you have the Pro 4X or a 2007 or earlier Off Road package. They have the same gear ratio as the big tow, even if they do not have the big tow option. HVT, I am sure you knew this, I was just pointing this out for the other fellers.
