This part fell out of the dash this morning. I'm certain it is part of the shifter mechanism, but don't know what part, or where it goes. does anyone know how much trouble it will be to put back in????

the truck is shifting fine, so it doesn't seem to have affected how anything works.

figures! lol! it's an 05'!!

do you have to remove dash panels to reinstall it?

or is it even necessary? the only difference seems to be the lack of the noticable "click" when moving the selector.

If this thing is necessary, does anyone know how to put it back in?

Fortunately, mine is still attached, but asking just in case it does decide to move to the floor board. :)

I have an 05 and mine has never fallen out, but if it does I'll know what it is now.

ok, climbed under there this morning. it does NOT seem to be a necessary part. the only thing that touches it is a flat metal peice that rides on the edge and prvides that "click" sound when shifting the selector.

I didn't have my swivel socket with me, so I couldn't get a screw driver in there to tighten the screws on it. i think i can do it with out removing the lower dash panel and metal plate, but i'm not posititve.

also, it's funny, if they just had the screw mounts turned the other way, it wouldn't be able to come out even with loose screws. the way it is now, it slides right out when the screws loosen slightly.
