IT WILL GET BETTER!! Don't DO IT~~!~~!

When the engine breaks in, it will improve.

I was getting 10-11 MPG, when mine was new. Now, I get 13-16 in the city and 18-21 on the HWY!! Give it time!!!

My typical trek is 106 miles round trip daily and I have BT, the low gears. If I'm easy on the throttle, I can get right at 18 MPG with the 2* timing. I'm stock otherwise. If I play, and it's hard not to it goes down.

You're going to take a big hit on your trade in.

Well, I think you would be crazy to do it. I would suggest you go drive the Silverado and then see how much you would miss your truck.

First off, I don't understand your mileage. Mine will see about 13 city and 16 highway. That is with the big tow and being a 4x4. I would suggest that you might want to bring in your truck to find out what is going on with the mileage. Is it possible that your parking brake cable might be adjusted to tight and dragging? What are you running for tire pressure?

Take it easy on the gas for a while and try a mid grade fuel (89 octane) and see if this improves it. My mileage with 87 octane is off by 1-2 mpg. And by all means have you dealer look into your concern.

do you have it in 4th or "D"? LOL! i made that mistake & it killed my gas mileage for a couple months.

don't do it man!! i think in the long run you'll be much happier with the titan. the chebby's definitely gonna suck after the first couple years.

Don't laugh, many have mistakenly done this. The floor shifter stays to the right to be in OD. Look at the gear selector on the dash and make sure you're not in 4th gear. I get 14-18 like the sticker said. On a long highway trip keeping it at 65-70, I can get just under 20.

If you are the slightest bit serious about this post, then you really shouldnt own a Titan in the first place.

You are oblivious to the differential in fuel consunption prices versus the hit you are going to take on trading in a two month old truck and running to a POS domestic retailer.

Take your foot off of the skinny pedal, breathe deep and enjoy one of the finest 1/2 ton offerings known to man.

Not trying to be mean but come on, man.

Chief is spot on, considering his response was tongue in cheek. :)

the titan will LAST WAY LONGER

Why would you trade one gas guzzler for another gas guzzler??? You'd have to step up to a Vortec Max 6.0L to get similar performance to the Titan.

If you're serious about the fuel cost, don't get a truck. All trucks are pretty much pigs unless you get a 4cyl midsize.

If you think you're ever gonna see the 22MPG that GM claims with the new DoD 5.3L, then you're being fooled. You might get 22MPG with story book weather conditions traveling on a slight downhill grade at 45-50MPH max with the wind to your back. In the real world? Ain't ever gonna to happen unless you want to be run over on the freeway.

Pump the front tires up to about 38.5psi and run the back tires around 34psi with no load and you'll get better mileage. Also, try to stay below 2200rpms most of the time. Use just the minimum amount of throttle pressure to get the truck rolling. Drive it like you want to keep it for 100 years. Once you start blasting it above 2500rpms on a regular basis, the mileage will go down fast.

youll need 2 chevys to last as long a one nissan

man your only talking about one or two more MPG. Chevy enevs states that in the new TV ad.

No offense, but why did you even bother buying a truck. If mpg is a big deal for you then you should stick to a car or smaller size p/u. You must have some $$$ to burn if you plan on trading that Titan in, because the Chevy dealer isnt going to give you anywhere near what its worth and turn around and sell if for damn near new price on their lot.

Before I wrecked my Maxima I knew I was going to get a truck, just didnt know which one. I didnt want to break the bank on a truck. I checked out the Chevy and just didnt like to overall stance of it, drive was "meh". If I wanted a decent one, I would have to come out of the pocket something serious and that wasnt happening. I passed over Ford completely since thier prices are insane for a decent model and the base model just looked plain ugly to me. Went to the nissan lot, sat in my Red Alert KC and fell in love. Driving it sealed the deal for me. Didnt hurt that a family friend gave a great discount on it  .
To be honest with you, I dont have a problem with the gas because when I had my Maxima I was filling up with premium gas and I have to tell you it got costly. I put mid grade in the Titan and its damn near the same price.

EDIT: Are your domestic truck buddies putting on the peerpressure? :poke: j/k ;)

Who cares, do what you want. If you want the chevy get it. IMO I like my titan, and only get about 11-12 mpg in it, I have been thinking about selling it when the new supercharged 600hp CTS-V comes out, or maybe getting a new C6 Z06. Just get what you want, it makes no difference to anyone but you what you get.

The choice is yours. The grass isn't alwats greener...

My Titan got 10mpg the first few months, too. But slowly it creeped up to OVER 15mph, depending on operational habits:teethmast . And even after I loaded down with some performance toys, and drove it like I stole it, it still got over 14mph and 19 on the highways.

I will say this though, I drive a GMC Sierra and it DOES get over 20mph on the highway, no problem. And it's a 5.3L ext. cab.

Thing about why you want to Chevy, and why you DON'T want the Titan, and see which is a better way to go for you. I'll add this, if you like the drive of the Titan, and performance, you will NOT be happy with the Cehvy one bit. I can almost guarantee you that...

Good luck, whatever you decide to do...

Go ahead and try it but don`t come on here crying about your chebbie being a lesser truck with about the same mileage and losing all that money.....

You'll lose far more in the trade then it you will ever make up with only 2MPG differance.
