Here in New Jersey, Circuit City runs an ad this time of year in the Sunday paper depending on the current sale for approximately $200-$250 (relays if needed are extra) installed. At $350 it's still a good price.
To me it's a reasonable price and they told me they solder all the connections and no wire crimps at all. When I went there they had good equiptment and as far as the DEI remote they only had the 561r which requires a different remote. I explained to the guy I wanted the 561t which used the factory remotes and he said if I obtain that model from somewhere else they would happy to install that one instead of theirs, and subtract the cost of their model from the bill. To me this willingness was a very welcome surprise. So if any of you think this is an option for you go ask the installer at your local Circuit City if they'll do this for you too.

i install at circuit city in CA...great work, you want sodered connections. also depending on your car, it should only cost $200. I did an armada the other day, with the same remote start i did on my titan, and we only charged $200...hooked it up the same way.

?? for you guys running remote starts

I had one on my Chevy 1500, was told that becasue the titan has a "chip" in the key, that they have to wire a key up under the dash to "fool" the starter into thinking there is a key there.

Not too big a deal, but my wifes Mazda MPV (mom wagon) has a chipped key and we only have two keys (bought the van used) mine and her's she wants her remote start back (was installed in her Camry that was totaled in an accident, and we could not remove it)

So with the MPV, a new key is $35 and get this...$90 to program!!

If there is a way around the "chip" part on either, I'd like to know.

I called my local auto shop before I bought my titan to ask about a remote starter. He told me to make sure I ask the salesman for the 3rd key when I pic it up for that reason.
I asked and he gave it to me. He seemed annoyed about it for some reason when he handed it to me.

Didn't you guys get the 'valet' key in addition to the 2 main keys? I didn't have to ask specifically- they just gave it to me- and I think it's mentioned in the owners manual too- so it must be standard- not an option you have to buy.

Is the dealer doing it or sending it out? They usually don't get involved in remote starters. I'd ask that specifically.
When I sent my truck in for service last time I told them they absolutely were NOT allowed to drive my truck on any street. They'd have a hard time outsourcing anything on my truck because of that.

Some independent locksmith does have the capability of programming you new key(s). Usually for half the price the dealer charge.

Do you know how much it costs to program them?
Dealer will charge about $80 - $100 to program a new key. Remember when you have it done, to bring all your keys cause it all need to be re-program at the same time.
