This saga has been going for almost a year. Serving engine light comes on, pull the code and it is a "P0116". I have changed the ECT (engine coolant sensor) and reset. It was good for a while then came back on. I changed the thermostat with the same results.
Last summer during hot weather I had two instances of the temperature gauge going bananas. I don't know if the truck was truly over heating but I did the cautious thing and the temperature came down. I do not live in a hot climate (Northern Colorado front range).
Over the winter the light never came on. Now that the weather is changing it comes back on, without fail, after a reset.
Does anyone have another idea on how I can troubleshoot this? I can only think this is an electrical issue or the fans. But it has barely been hot enough to turn that fan on I would think (tomorrow it is supposed to snow again). I am scratching my head and frustrated!!
Thanks,
Jason
