I was wondering if anyone drive alot in the titan. I have a 02 accord and really would like to get a truck. I drive alot and sometime have to drive about 8hrs away for work. How dose the titian feel when your driving alot. I put about 2k mile on my car in 1month so im going to put alot on the titan. Im looking at either the titan for the ridgeline (no need to start a war on what you like or dont like about the ridgeline as I like both). I dont have a need for a truck but I want a truck so that is why im looking at one. I just want to make sure its good to travle in. Thanks in advance.

I have found the Titan to be very comfortable on long trips, it is roomy and rides well on the highway. Make sure you no this is a truck and will be getting significantly less MPG then an accord, I prefer driving a truck over a car and am willing to pay the differance, but I only drive no more then 10,000 - 12,000 miles per year.

Big Tow

Bedliner
Fog Light Kit
OEM bug deflector

I travel for work as well....only 2k a month??? I wish!

As long as you don't get the available packages that change the gearing, and seeing that your other choice is a ridgeline, you don't need the off-road or the big tow, you should be fine with trips. The ride is comfortable, much roomier than your accord, and gas mileage on the highway will be 18-20mpg (at least thats what I expereince)....

We pick my Titan over my wifes Pilot for long trips, tons of room, very comfy, great ride and quiet. Think gas though. I have to have a full size truck as I am a contractor. If I didn't, I'd be driving an Accord. We are even thinking of trading the Pilot for an Oddessy with the cylinder deactivation...28mpg. Yes a stinking minivan. That will really look intimidating at the hockey rink. At least I might ge able to afford to drive to the rink.

I've done two long(for me) trips in my Titan this year ~500 miles, and ~700 miles. It's been very comfortable and roomy so far, much better than any of my previous cars for the same trips when I've taken them in the past.

The lumbar support is excellent after a few hours on the road.

The only downside, of course, is gas milage. My best on a long trip so far has been about 19.5 across Ohio.

thats in the info. Im not to concerned about the gas prices as no matter what I get i know its going to be bigger and will not get the same mileage as the accord and well with the great price I can get on the titan i can just use that for the gas money. I really love the size of a full size. Im going to have to retest drive the titan i drove as the tires were out of balance and the ride was not nice but I know it dose not right like that all the time. I know this is a truck and well if I do get it I will get the tow package as its always good to get it when you get a truck. Well that is what my uncle, father and grandfater say. We uncle and grandfater are all die hard ford fan but I just dont want a ford. I have always like imports and that will be the same thing for my truck.

Well i drive about 2k each month in my titan and i buy a lot of gas. About $500 each month, plus i need new tires after 9 months which will be $1100- $1300. oh and every other month i spend $60 for a oil change. So it looks like it costs about $800 each month to run my titan with no truck payment. with a truck payment it would be another 500-600 each month. So my morgage payment is almost cheaper then this truck in the short term each month if you have a truck payment. So hope you buy with cash. :upsidedow
I myself can't live in my truck. So i hope if you plan to do this 2k each month stuff you are earning a good living.

I am coming form a '97 F-150 and like the ride of the Titan much better, even with Off-Road and Big-Tow pkgs (had both on Ford too) for long trips. I did get to take a new Ford F-150 (supposedlt got good review for ride quality) for a 200 mile ride and while it was better than my 97 model (much less road noise and better handling) I still prefer the Titan. My passengers in the back seat are MUCH happier now too. However, if the ridgeline is your other choice it probably rides better. Our neighbor has one and has done several family vacations so far. He loves the ride although it doesn't look as roomy inside, but him and his family are shorter with two young kids.

Nice round trip...

Just took a ride to PRG's to have him install my CST 7" lift kit....swung north east to Las Vegas...then back home to Hollister ...put 1,154 miles on the Titan in 2 days time. It was a very nice comfortable ride...except for in Vegas when it was 118 degree's outside and we were stuck in traffic and the AC decided it didnt want to cool anymore ( Known TSB for the problem when the truck is at a standstill and its really hot outside ) Nissan ordered the TSB parts for me this week...other then that it was great ( Averaged 15 to 16 MPG )

I love the Titan for long trips.

Plenty of room, nice view of the road and traffic, quite and smooth compared to my cars, flies throug the rain like the roads are dry, great stereo, cruise works very well, seats are comfy and offer lots of various positions, it's all good, until you have to put 26 some gallons in the tank...

Have you ever flown first class?

Seriously, we own a 2003 CRV that we took to Colorado (1400 mile rt). It was ok, and basically confortable and the mileage was good. We went to KC a couple weeks ago in the TITAN, and what a difference! My brother drove the TITAN about 50 miles while we were there and was totally impressed (being a Dodge P/U owner) about how smooth it was on the highway.

The only issue was MPG of course...But like first class, you pay for the privelege.

Thats not a long trip, we drive from JC MO to Redmond Org. via Boise ID. 4200 miles in 10 days, with sight seeing. Drove straight back because of winter storms in Wy........34 hrs straight. Don't think I could have done it in any other vehicle.

So far I have only driven the Titan on one long trip. Went from Detroit to Belvidere Illinois. About 370 miles one way with a weeks worth of driving in Belvidere. I didnt want to get out of the Truck. I was just as comfortable on the last mile as I was on the first. (800+ mile round trip)

As the others have said about the gas... It ain't pretty when compared to a car. I'm not convinced the mileage is that different with the Big Tow on the highway unless you're fast (80+). If you do go for the Titan you'll love it. My Dad has a Ridgeline and I'm a fan. I think they're awesome for their intended use. I have Titan. I have 700miles or so in his Ridgeline; I have almost 4k in my Titan. You can't lose! The extra size and mass of the Titan makes it a better ride IMHO. The Honda out handles the Titan and the brakes feel better when it's empty (or near empty). If you choose the Titan (and I think you'll love it) consider the side airbag package with VDC. That'll put you apples to apples with safety technology. The downside to the Titan, if you do a lot of foul weather driving, it has a primitive 4wd system. The Ridgeline is a true AWD system. The Titan is a real truck with low range etc. It does not have a good foul weather mode. The 4wd high is good only if there is enough slip, i.e. full snow coverage or dirt road, otherwise you use 2wd and fuss or in 4wd and bind and possibly damage your 4wd.

The bottom line is: Titan=real truck. Good, real truck stuff all over in a very refined package. Ridgeline= an extremely utilitarian, HD car.

We own a 2004 Accord which we use for around town driving and it is great on gas milage. That said, I would not think of taking it on long trips. Titan is exceptionally comfortable and roomy for trips and seats support your back all the way there.
A pretty easy decision to me.

I have had my Titan for about a month now and have gone on one 3 hour trip and a few 1.5 hour trips. My wife's '03 four-cylinder Accord was previously our long road trip machine before the Titan came along. Granted, these don't even come near to doing 8-hour trips as you stated you would be doing, but here are a couple of observations I've made that you may find relevant to your situation:

+ The Titan is much more comfortable on long trips, especially with family along. The ride is smoother and more spacious than my wife's Accord. For example, when we had 4 people on the 3 hour trip, everyone remarked that they felt much less fatigued upon arrival compared to when we made the same identical trip in the Honda.

+ I feel a heck of a lot safer driving my family around in the Titan than I would in my wife's Honda.

+ The extra cargo space factor is great in the Titan. I thought the bed divider was a waste of money at first, but I've used it virtually everytime I've had cargo in the bed. With the car, it was like doing a jigsaw puzzle each time we loaded up the people and the trunk. But now everything goes in the bed. When stuff can't go back there, the fold-up seats in my CC take care of all but the biggest stuff.

+ If you're concerned about MPG, then stick with your car. Getting any truck will not make much difference overall in gas mileage once you consider the very slight percentage loss in MPG compared to added versatility. For instance, the much smaller Ridgeline has a very small MPG advantage over the Titan. I happen to like the Ridgeline, and I love its AWD/4WD system--but it's overpriced by about $10K and offers less value to me compared to the Titan.

+ My wife is from Mexico and we are considering driving to central Mexico this Christmas for her family reunion with our Titan. That will be the mother of all road trips (36 hours driving time) and so far I've seen nothing that can stand in the Titan's way of making the trip safely, reliably, and comfortably.

So in a nutshell, I think the Titan is an excellent candidate for long road trips. It's extremely versatile, comfortable, fun-to-drive, and reliable (I have heard of very few breakdown issues with the Nissan Titan compared to other makes). At this point in time, our country's embarrassing dependence on oil (and, yes, I'm aware of my status as a V8 owner) is making driving a large vehicle less economical, I'm sure the Titan will be my road trip ride for many years to come. However, if you drive alone, don't need the capacity or versatility, or really need to squeeze as much as possible out of a gallon of gas, I'd say stick with your Honda.

Good luck,

Mark

I went on a 300 miles trip (Yosemite for camping) 2 months ago with 4 people in the Titan. The drive was comfortable and ROOMY inside and the trunk storage. Bed extender helped give extra space. I am heading to 500 miles trip in two days. I was able to fit 17" flat screeen TV and DVD player in the truck for my kids to watch movies. I used power converter to power the TV and DVD player. Make sure to save $ for gas.

well Its not that I dont need one. One I get one I know i will use it for alot to stuff. I also do some construcktion work and really need a truck for that but Im always going with people as I only have a car and cant pack any of the stuff I need.

I seeing the 06 prices and looking at getting an SE with the air bag package now.

As what you all say about milage between the titan and ridgeline its not really that much of a difference. If i can get 10miles per gallon from the titan im happy with that and I know it can do a bit better than that

Make sure you select side airbags that include VDC. In some combinations it doesn't.

I love my Titan, but for traveling as much as you do, the truck will just kill you in gas money and the point of putting that many miles on a brand new truck is just brutal in my opinion. For long trips the Titan is comfortable, it has plenty of room and sits up high to give you a really good look over the highway.
