that is the craziest TITAN i have ever seen....glad to see they are using/abusing it too. great pics. i wonder if those shots going up the hill w/ the strap attached are for pulling the camera man up that hill.....

sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last I was told, it is now running 46" MT Baja Claws.

For those interested, I got a hold of Toby @ Lavendar Brothers, he built the truck, and he told me that truck is easily a $150K truck, with all the fab work involved. The only thing still Nissan on it are the cab (for now) and the engine/tranny. Everything else is one off fabbed.

He also told me they smashed the hell out of the cab during that trip so he's going to try and boat side it before the So Cal Off Road Expo. It will be there regardless though. I'll be there taking hundreds of pics...

I was gonna say it's probably not titan besides the cab.. I seriously doubt the tranny is stock... I KNOW the motor has a blower at least from the burn out vids... probably more than just a blower. it's probably a different motor by now as that was a while ago. and how they drive I seriously doubt the 1st tranny lasted one trip. my tranny is ready to explode on every hard push on the pedal it's a spin of the gun... and there is nothing I can do to my truck that could even compare to the abuse they put on theirs with those 46"s doing the doughnuts with a blower under the hood... I think their tranny was built since the 1st year they had it.. could be a nissan shell and some parts, but I'm pretty sure it has a beefed up tranny. I'd wager something else and a different transfer case....

Stock tranny, Atlas II T-Case. I emailed the owner awhile back and asked for some details. I was also inquiring on whether he had had any flex plate failure issues and he said no.

"I see that you are either the owner of, or affiliated with the XXX Traction Titan. Simply put, awesome rig!!"

Thanks!!
I own XXX Traction and I built the Titan. The Titan's technically owned by Source Media/Four Wheeler Magazine however I have it in my possetion all the time and wheel it any time I want. I just don't have to pay for any parts, fuel, trailers, towing, registeration, insurance, bla, bla, bla. :D

Can you please tell me, what exactly you are running drivetrain wise? I know it's the VK56DE Nissan engine with a Stillen Supercharger, correct?"

Correct on the engine.
The drivetrain's all custom.
Dana 80 rear
Dana 60 front

"What about the transmission? Is it the Nissan/Jatco transmission that came in the truck, or did you do some sort of swap? If it is indeed the factory transmission, has anything internally been upgraded? Have you had any failures or other issues? If so, how did you correct them?"

It's a totally stock trans. We recently burned up the Atlass (literally, really... it got so hot it cought on fire) so the trans had developed a leak at the rear output seal and the front pump seal had been leaking a little for a while. So when I put the new Atlass in it I installed another transmission I had. That transmission only lasted about 2 days, I don't know why yet, but it nuetrals when it gets warm. I'm re-sealing the old one and putting it back in. It never gave any problems at all. When I swap the transmissions again I'll inspect the flex plate close. Thanks for that info.

"I recall reading somewhere about a custom adapter that was made by Atlas to couple the transmission to an Atlas II T-case, correct? Is that a one-off item?"

The first one was a custom one off, Advanced Adapters has them in production and in stock now.
It's a great upgrage IMO.

Toby Lavender.

Man, that truck is just plain SICK!!! Mad respect for what you did to it. I wish I had a 4x4 now.

ok, so we can upgrade to an Atlas II transfer case now it sounds? anyone know what it would/could cost and what all one would need to do it?

thats great to hear as I'm not sure if it's my tranny or trans case or what causing my shifting problems, but it is a pos and seems like the trans is gonna explode at times

and at least I was correct on the trasfer case part :D

I love it but didnt notice any fuel cans in the back

how far can it go on 1 tank offroad?
It has a racing fuel cell mounted in the rear, probably 30 gallons???

nissan titan atlas transfer case adapter... still dunno what all would need to be done. think I'll email them. should be able to find a rebuilt atlas TC for cheap I'd imagine? and with that any mechanic shop that sets up rear ends and trannys should be capable I'd imagine to do the work

I would imagine once you get the working transfer case i would be a simple bolt in.

Those are manual shift transfer cases, so you'd have to do some hacking in your floorboards and run a stick shift up through.

I was thinking that too. that would make my 4wd switch useless. I don't have a problem cutting a hole for a shifter if it means my tranny will be better :D biggest problem is the cost of the T-case I think :( dunno which one to get, if they have splines how do I order one to match the factory one and stuff.. moreso a possible future upgrade and just doing some recon :D
