Thank you Currie for your response to our needs/wants!

Thats just it though. Currie is making a "replacement" rear end. Considering another bull**** nissan rear end is going to cost 2k then 3k for an awesome bullet proof rear end is a no-brainer. Its alot of money either way, its more if you don't do it right the first time.

Yea, I haven't really been around any desert trucks at all. I guess I was just missing the big picture, it is nice to see a company willing to make some really good stuff for our trucks.

Can't wait till they go on sale. Called today and I am very pleased with what I heard. I will be getting a D60 for my Titan (when they go on sale). Thanks Currie!

Which rear end is stronger? I don't go off roading. I just want a rear end that I can set it and forget it.

I've heard you lose less power through the drive train with the 9.
Actually you lose a little more...but turn off the A/C and you'll be square...:)

The 9" has a lot going for it, more ratios then you could possibly need, much easier to work on, and lighter then the D60...Plenty of diff choices also...

I like losing un-sprung weight when ever possible....plus I have several center housings available to me from my racer buddies...

What makes it lose more than the 60 Lou? My truck with the AC on is a HUGE difference. My truck is so much slower in the summer with high temps and my AC running.

I read there is less power loss with a 9 vs D60

You will loose more power with the 9" because the pinion gear is lower down on the ring gear needing more torque to turn the axles.

A friend swapped a 9" for his 12 bolt, same gears, in a 11.40 Nova and lost 2 tenths, the 9" was removed the next day.

Any chance you will have the option to buy just the ends. I would imagine then it would have everything you need including the tone rings and such to adapt to your own choice of housing? Maybe different choices in ends so you could use a 60, 9", or maybe even a 14 bolt. Might keep the cost down for those willing to tackle the project themselves. Hell, even throw an alignment bar in the mix for addition cost for the home fab guys. Give everyone an option to build it them selves and pick up some more customers for those who want to be closer to 1k-1.2K when it is all said and done.

Thanks, Sean

OK, but if you click on the link under my comment there is a quote where I read that there is more power loss with the D60.
We are not comparing the 9 to a chevy 12 bolt

Where is the Quote, your link goes to Page 3 of this thread.

The 12 Bolt and Dana 60 is the same type axle so it Does apply to this thread.

The lower location of the Pinion Gear to Ring Gear is where the ford 9" is sucking up the power.

...My bad....I was referring to the 9" vs the street popular 10/12 bolt GM unit....Which you are very correct, we are NOT comparing those 2 rear ends...

You can get a 9" with .250" wall 4130 axle tubes along with gusseting and the gears are very strong, so I'm a big 9" fan...

If you're racing a full sized truck in the desert, then you need the bigger 10" ring gear setups, but for anybody here the 9" will do...:)
