its been raining here in my town and been trying to have a little fun on the wet pavement, however the traction control keeps coming on and cuts the power to my tires when they slip. is there any way to turn this off or lock the rear end?

Us older titans dont have that option to just flip it off easily. There is a mod to be able to lock in your rear locker in any gear.

My truck doesn't have "traction control" where it cuts power. I have done many one-wheel peel burnouts with white smoke and rubber flying everywhere, and not once did my truck lose power to the wheels. Many older trucks only have ABLS, which cannot be turned off. ABLS doesn't cut power, it just applies braking force to the wheel that is spinning. If you have VDC (which cuts power to the motor when the wheel slips), then you can turn that off using the "VDC off" button. I have heard of some trucks that came with VDC but they must have missed putting a "VDC off" button in the factory, so if you have one of those, you might be SOL. I'm sure it wouldn't be as easy as just adding the "VDC off" switch to get things working....that would be too easy. :bangit: Good luck!

OP, you're 2WD on the big tow gears. That means you're one of the lucky ones like me who doesn't have a VDC button. What we have is TCS. It senses the speeds of the rear wheels, and when the difference between those gets too large, power cut from the ECU. HUGE power cut. That TCS is what the slip light is telling you is happening in this case. There isn't a way to get rid of it in anything I've seen to this point, anywhere. I asked Jared at Uprev about it, seeing if they had anything. He said no, they haven't even tried and likely never would try.

Having said all that, ever since I started running the BDPP on my truck, I've yet to hit it and I have done a little tire spin here and there. Matter of fact, when Pops and I were comparing his Superchips and my BDPP on my truck, we tried hard to get it to engage going around right hand turns and going WOT. Nothing. :dunno:

I have an 04 LE 2WD big tow and i have the VDC button and man can i spin the tires when its wet and the switch is off. I like to secretly reach down and turn it off when people aren't expecting it and just lighting them up. Scares people a little when they are not ready for it. :)

The '04 was a completely different animal than in the years that followed. That was the only year you could get the Off Road package on a 2WD.

Mines an 04 and I've lit both tires up on several occasions. Usually when going to tire shop to replace the old tires. And mine doesn't have a vdc or slip light or anything on it. And if I punch it when turning out ill smoke one tire like nuts. So I have no clue about all that slip stuff an all. I just love mine ?
