I finally got to play in the snow with my Duras and all I can say is that these tires ROCK.
I went up to Flagstaff on Saturday while a winter storm was in full effect so I got to drive in rain, sleet & 7" of fresh snow plus I did some off roading in a snow/mud mixture. I am nothing less than amazed how well these tires handle all of the elements I have thrown at them including 80+MPH highway curves. Not once did I feel like they were loosing grip even on the highway That had standing water on it.
I also would like to share I enjoy the crap out of my truck! :redblob"

I liked mine a lot ... handled great on the curves, pretty good on wet curves, but they spun real easily from a stop on wet roads, and hydroplaned at very low speed.

Mine were a much narrower stock, off road size, LT285/70R17D, which i would have thought, would not be starting to hydroplane at only 45 mph. My Hankook ATm RF10s are more resistant to hydroplaning at 55 or more.

I'm seriously considering this for my next tire. Here in Phoenix, we don't worry much about wet roads. OP, were you able to get a deal locally? If so, can you share details? Thanks. I'm currently running 35s (ProComp Extreme AT, which may be the worst tire ever), looking to step down to a slightly smaller tire due to gearing.

Hmmmm.... I was really considering the Duratracs until I read your post. I'm not sold on the Nitto's after running them and after reading thought these would be a good alternative.

They handled curves in the rain better than my Terra Grapplers did, but the Terras were more resistant to hydroplanining. But different sizes, different inflation can have an affect. I would think the thinner 285s I ran would have been very resistant ...

I liked them enough otherwise, that I would probably buy them again, maybe in the 315/70R17.

Plus made in USA.

I just got them at a local discount tire for $20 over cost because I bought rims also and discount screwed up my order.
NorCal is really the first person I have heard of anyone really complaining about slippage and I have literally read hundreds of reviews ( not that Im questioning his experience with them ) . So far these tires have outperformed my expiations 10Ă— over & I have no problem recommending them to my fellow TT friends.

I've got about 100 miles on mine so far and love em.. time will tell the whole story though.

I'm going to get these for my 20's and was considering 295/55 and if I liked them also get a set for the 17's when they are do for replacement.

Are the Hankooks significantly greater in any way?

I feel the same way but NorCal has a lot of experience from what I've read in similar conditions to what I'll experience. People also swear by the Terragraps but I have mixed feelings after first hand use. They weren't bad but I expected more.

I love my DuraTracs, but I will be lucky to get 30,000 miles out of them. I am disappointed in that regard.

My Duratrac experience:

Bought them the very month they came out (May 09' I believe) while living in KY/TN. Put them through some REALLY sticky deep mud and were awesome! Went through lots of rain storms and noticed some wheel slippage from a stop, but only on certain surfaces and I did have the Superchips which made my throttle crazy sensitive.

Moved to Iowa in December after getting out of the Army and went through a Midwest winter. They did amazing again in snow. Only needed 2wd in some pretty deep stuff.

Moved to AZ in Feb where I've been for over 2 years and the Duratracs did awesome in sand, dirt, and rock.

Sold them with 33,000 miles on them to get 35's and I could've gone another 30k easy.

Let me also add that I've had them up to 125-130mph and use to make 500 mile road trips doing 90-100 a good portion of the way and 85 the rest with no problems. Yes I know dumb, but I had just gotten back from Afghanistan and thought I was invincible.

The Hankooks currently have better traction on wet pavement, and are more resistant to hydroplaning ... same puddles at over 10 mph greater.
ATm's do handle a little better in the curves, but this might be because they are a little wider, being a 295 vs. a 285, and they have a 3 ply sidewall vs. the DuraTracs 2 ply sidewalls, (at least in my size). Pehaps the E load rated DuraTracs have a 3 ply sidewall, although this isn't always the case, and some D rated and even C rated tires, i.e. BFG A/T KO do have 3 ply sidewalls.

The Hankooks are the best on road, (wet and dry), that I've had on the Titan. Their tread is much more agressive than the pics on the tire sites, but like the Terra, their sidewalls don't look nearly as agressive as the DuraTrac's. I predict they will do great in the dirt and loose rock off road, but then again the Terras looked like they would, but had no traction, climbing in 2wd.

I haven't had my Hankook DynaPro's through snow yet, but they have handled everything else that I have thrown at them. I have approximately 7,000 miles on them, and they look brand new.

I wonder if the DuraTrac's are too soft for the AZ summer? I have had them on the Pathfinder for 20,000 miles, and I have maybe 6/32 left. I was rotating them every 5,000 miles, but now I am cross rotating them every 3,000 miles.
