I bought my Titan used, and am not sure if the manifolds have been replaced to the updated ones. My service writer at the dealer tells me they are, but I'd like to find out how to confirm that.

I believe I saw that they were thicker?? Thicker where? And how thick?
What's the difference between the old ones and updated ones to look for?

Just want to see if I need to plan on buying headers in the near future since I'm over 80k, lol. Thanks!

From what I could see the other day my 2005 and a 2011 pro4x looked exactly the same as far as outside image. I don't know if nissan changed metal or thickness but I doubt it. There is a split in the flange at the rear exhaust port on each side that is the culprit imo.

I would start saving for headers if it were me..

The problem isn't the thickness of the metal, it's the fact that Nissan takes two halves of stamped metal and welds them together to make the exhaust manifolds (headers). The inside corners of every exit port to pipe is where they are cracking because of the crap design failing to withstand the extreme exhaust temps and heat... If they would just take a bit of time to use real mandrel bent pipes (like JBA headers) there would be no failures... IMHO...

Asked this in another cracked manifold thread & never got an answer... Does anyone know what the engineering rationale behind the split in the flange is? I'm just curious why Nissan would put a split there.

I've also wondered many times before why headers haven't become standard equipment on high-output engines where extreme heat and flow restriction are real problems? I know they probably cost a bit more, but in bulk is it really that much more? Who wouldn't mind tacking another $100 to the cost of their new vehicle for the added HP & durability?

I have never seen another car or truck out there with a split flange, that design is crazy imo. If you ever get a chance take a look at a Tundra exhaust manifold. :)

Ive got a set of manifolds that came off my T when I had headers put on. I had them replaced december of 2010 and got headers erlier this year.
IDK if they are the "new" model, but I can snap a pic if anyone wants.

Those are the new design, so post a few pics.

Looks like they welded a thin strip of steel over the area that is prone to cracking.
