I just purchased my first Titan. It is a 2005 Crew Cab LE and boy do I Love it. First Nissan product I have ever owned and I have to say it is impressive to say the least! Her is my question. I need to replace all the brakes and am confused as to how to go. It is my daily driver, and I do not tow anything and do not drive in an extreme manner where I use the brakes in the same way. Would standard premium rotors with semi metallic pads be in order? I see many on here run Drilled/Slotted rotors with Ceramic pads. Do you folks running these use them on your daily drivers? I think I understand the slots in the rotors actually remove a very fine layer of the pads while braking which cuts down on pad life. My current set up is bone stock and if there is anything about the truck I feel is a little weak it is the brakes. Thanks for any and all advice you can share.

You won't appreciate anything in a daily driver more than the ability to STOP when you need to... You do it dozens of times a day... Why not have it the best it can be and enjoy the ride? Putting $400-500 into it to get "respectable" braking or putting $700 into it to get "unbelievable" braking... It's your choice. I made mine. I don't do "good enough"... LOL!

Check my sig for the write-up.

Thanks... Nissan made it... I just made it better...

Well, here's my 2 cents: if you need new brake pads, it's hard to have a good comparison anyway. You can get good quality brake pads for $60-70, and assuming you can put them on yourself and that the rotors are not warped, now you have new brakes. Then you can decide whether those stop good enough for you or if you want performance brakes.

JD, kinda what my thoughts are. But, with some of the package deals I see on here and other places it has me thinking. I just don't want to get the performance brakes if I am not going to realize any difference with the way I drive over some solid rotors and good quality pads. Thanks for your 2 cents. I value all advice from fellow Titan owners!

If your rotors are not shot or warped, you may be able to save a lot of money with just new pads... as jd said. Mine were warped and shot.

I put the powerslot cross drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads on all four corners a few months ago. My titan is my daily driver and i deal with a lot of stop and go traffic. They have served me well thus far. I think i paid a little under 400 for the kit and did the install myself with a buddy of mine in a few hours.

I replaced my factory pads at 96K miles and put on the Hawk LTS pads with factory rotors that I had turned. Pads were shot in 35K miles. So I turned my rotors again and installed Autozone best pads. They have about 50K on them now and will need replaced soon. They stop very well to my surprise. My wife's truck's factory pads went to 90K. I put on BOSCH pads I bought from Amazon.com. 25K on them with factory rotors that got turned. The BOSCH (I think are direct OEM replacement) stop great, quite and virtually no dust. When it's time replace pads on either truck they will get the Frozen rotors and Probably the BOSCH Pads. I do too many miles to have to replace pads every 30-50K miles

I went with Frozen Rotors (slotted only) and Hawk LTS pads. After 30,000+ miles, they are barely worn. Do they cost a lot? You betcha! But I'm very happy with them and if they last as long as it appears they might, it was a very good investment. Of all the equipment on your truck, the brakes are very likely what will most likely save your life. Don't skimp.

Factory brakes will stop on a dime if you need them to, if you just want to modify/ugrade to something that's popular here, that's ok too. If you need to stop on a dime everytime you probably need to change your driving habits.

Most any performance pad you can find will increase brake noise and dust, and provide a shorter stopping distance. If you don't care about those two (noise &dust) then you may want to look into that.

Wow, I didn't know the Frozen Rotors were $800+. At that price, you could spend just a few hundred more and get the '08+ brake upgrade.

All i have ever used on my vehicles is premium pads from autozone and they have always worked just fine. Turn the rotors or replace if needed and throw some premium pads on it & call it a day . There is no reson to spend a butt load of money on fancy or cool looking rotors or special pads its just a 1/2 ton pickup not a sports car.

Be careful... A lot of those cheapass fleaBay rotors are two piece junk from China... That's the WORST thing you will ever waste your money on for the Titan... trust me on that. Cheap is NOT always good.
