So I used my Bully Dog to advance the timing 4*, so no it's 19* at idle (650RPM).

It seems that everyone says that 2* is the max that will stay in the computer, so I was curious what others have experienced.

What timing settings are some of you guys running?

Oh, I use Regular tune, WOT off, 4* advance

Also, it was kinda odd too, as soon as I added the extra 2* (for a total of 4* advance), the exhaust began to souond throatier :)

Pics or it didnt happen...
J/k, but Im sure there are some that would like to see it hold.

So Manley, did the 4* Timing Advance hold?

If so, can we get some details?

Any Increase in Power/MPG's/Funny Engine Noises?

I hope you dont spin a bearing. That would suck.

I've run +2 on mine with 87 bully gt set on 87 and extreme and 33.12 50 mudd graplers and as long as I don't gouge the hell out of it or pull a loaded trailer it won't ping. Backed mine back down to +1. I average 13-14 highway and city. My truck is a flex fuel truck too

I ran the 2° advance on 85 octane for a good year without any problems. But I'm running at 6,000' elevation so that may make a difference.

It might sound throatier, but that doesn't mean it's quicker. On my old 22r, I advanced the timing way up once to experiment and boy did it feel good at low speeds around town. However, once I began to accelerate to higher speeds, the power dropped way off and it started pinging like crazy. With the Titan, I think the ECU will adjust total timing to avoid spark knock so it's basically a waste unless you're running race gas.

Ecu will not retard it enough to stop spark knock if you your timing advanced too much

You're most likely right in that it doesn't mean that it's faster, but then again, I'm not driving my Corvette anymore, so speed isn't exactly my goal. I do hope it makes more power, but in the end, it's the sound and the low speed "around town" characteristics that I want improved.

Actually, although it may be unrelated, I was simply surprised that the tone of the exhaust changed raight after advancing the 2 extra degrees.

So far it hasn't been pinging and still feels like it's got all the same pep all the way up to 6,000rpm.

My question is, what did you do differently that allowed you to advance 4*. I would like to advance 4 if it were possible, has anyone else been able to do this?

My BDGT allows me to advance/retard 4* as well... although I backed it off to 3* as it seems to run better there, and 92 octane is the highest we get here...
