Has anyone taken back their Titan due to the rotor problem? And if so, how did the dealer compensate you? I was told my '04 Titan lost 10,000 dollars in trade in value due to the lost equity with the rotor problem. They wanted me to make up half the difference to get into something else. Contacted Lemon Law and they are fighting for me now. If you have any experience with this situation any help would be much appreciated.

please. you are talking about freakin brake rotors. just brakes. no way will you qualify for lemon law buyback. even so, imo, the rotor issue is wayyyy overly exaggerated. the brake problem is NOT that bad and can be fixed. dodge dakotas have the same problem. and ive heard of others vehicles too. next. :deathsent

even if lemon law helps you nissan will have one final opportunity to fix it...and if you researched Nissan has come out with new brake rotors and pads that will take care of your problem

Back in the day... I had a 81 accord that regularly wasted its rotors in less then 10k. (Mostly highway driving, and 40k a year at that). It was actually cheaper to buy the rotors (like $12 each) than to have them turned. I got so I could do a brake job on that car at a red light. Honestly, it took longer to jack the car up and remove the wheel than it did to change the pads and rotor...

Well for you non-believers, I already have an attorney that has dealt and won cases against Nissan just for this rotor problem. Just faxed my invoices from when I got my rotors replaced and Nissan has 30 days to comply. Either they give me an '05 Titan or all my money back. (down payment + all lease payments).

If it's a lease, WTF are you worried about lost equity?

EDIT: I thought about this again, and although I won't claim to be a genius, I want to know how, with a lease, you have any equity at all? And since you have no equity, how is you lawyer going to show damages?

I just smell a lot of bs :bangit:

I got the brake Upgrade 3 weeks ago and every thing is great now.

No way in hell I was going to get rid of the THUNDER TANK just for some rotors that Nissan was planning to replace voluntarily. They even extended the warrant for the brakes. If it was GM Dodge or Ford, im sure they wouldn’t have fixed it.

The dealer I bought my Titan at also owns the Dodge dealer right next door. My sales rep works at both the Nissan and Dodge dealer. He told me,
"you wont believe how many dodge rams get brought back to the dealer"
I said "oh yea"
He said , 'No really... you wouldn’t believe it"

I dropped the Titan off at the Nissan dealer for the Brake up grade and as im standing out side at Nissan I notice there is hardly if any activity in the service department, only a couple of vehicles.
I looked over at the Dodge dealers service department and it looked like they were setting up a carnival, their were hella vehicles and people running around everywhere.

Toyota had the same problem about a year or two ago but they wouldn’t replace the brakes on their trucks.
2004 Titan 16,000 miles only 150 miles on my new brakes.

I have to say, when I had my F-150 and dropped it at the dealer for service the place was always packed, at least a half-dozen cars, but usually more! When I go to Nissan dealers there has never been more than two cars/trucks waiting for service.

Probably because the Nissan dealers only get two sets of rotors per month.

The reason you don't see them is because they move them around back very quickly. Most of the time the guy taking my truck back is trying to move mine before they even get it written up. They did that once after that I started keeping the keys in my pocket.

Nah, definately not the case. You would think these guys at the dealer work for the government. They are never in a hurry to get something done.

When I would take my F-150 there were always several people in line waiting for a service writer. The Nissan dealer I go to just isn't like that.

Let me know how your problem goes as I may do something as well. I've gotten supposedly the newest brake upgrade as of a month and a half ago but the jutter came back AGAIN (3rd fix). The truck only has 13,000 miles.

for everyone who is saying that a lemon law is a tough procedure you are very wrong. i live in CA and my 04 titan was lemon lawed and i now have a brand new 05. i got back all of my money less 400 bucks and thats not bad considering i had the truck for a year and put 27,000 miles on it. lemon law is simple. nissan has three attempts to fix a problem, meaning that if the same problem occurs a 4th time it qualifies. It does however have to be a major problem but brakes do fall under that category without any questions. I will say however that you shouldnt try to deal with nissan yourself. i contacted a lawyer ..."the largest in california" ...and he took care of every thing. start to finish it took about 2 months total during which i had to fax over all the repair invoces, have him contact nissan, give them a mandatory 35 days to reply (they take all 35 days) another week before you get the info on where to surrender the truck. at that time i bought a brand new 05 and waited another week before i actually dropped my truck off. it was simple, easy and painless. for everyone who thinks otherwise you are wrong and i am guessing have not even seriosly looked into the truman act (lemon law) if anyone has any questions about the procedure i would be glad to help.

Just curious, how much did the lawyer cost you?

Does this only apply to people if they bought their truck new or does it apply to folks who bought them used from another dealer? Where in CA are you from? I might need to speak to your Lawyer about my truck. It's going on it's 4th set of rotors and pads and the local dealer has no idea on when they will get the replacement parts to solve the issue. I was told I was on the list and it should be another 2 to 4 weeks before I get the new parts. I have been waiting a month already. Anyone else having wait times like this?
Please advise and thanks for the info.... :futwice:

I'd love to discuss this by email if possible. I'd like to get my cash back OR an 05 depending on how it'd get done but I DO NOT want to give a ton of cash to a lawyer to do all this if possible.

first of all the lawyer will cost you a big fat nothing. there is a provision in the truman act (lemon law) that states that all lawyer fees be paid for by the manafacturer so it costs you nothing. I am in san diego CA and my lawyer is "the largest in CA" if you want to pm me i can give you further info. once you contact him he chooses whether or nor he will represent you. he has a 99% resolve rate so if he accepts you then you know you have a winning case. he will also tell you if you dont have a case or what you may need to do to get your case accepted. like i said, pm me and give me your e-mail then i can help everyone out. i'm not to sure about the used titan. but ill give u the info and you can check for yourself.

Lemon this. Brake rotors are out that fix the problem. Nissan has been very responsive to all problems and repaired them on '04, and made changes for '05 to get rid of them. '04 was a first year vehicle. Always some bugs. Second year almost always fixes those. If people turned in their Titans/Armadas for lemon on brake rotors, then every first year car would be turned in for similar problems. EX. '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee was junk. '00 was great. Also, some makers never fix the problems. Ask all the Ford owners who's rears are grinding after 3 changes, GM vortech owners who keep blowing head gaskets, etc.
I feel for your problems, but don't buy a first year vehicle and expect perfection. Doesn't exist. The Titan is higher rated than the Tundra for first year initial quality. Good Job Nissan! Bring it in and get it fixed, for good now. Lemon claims on this are generally frivilous and just a way for someone to get out of their lease financing.
