Another one bites the dust... Sorry to hear that. I just put in a third tank today and that was already $30... Don't be a stranger though!

Yeah, the Titan is a pretty expensive juke box on wheels..............
Buh bye!

I was just thinking about the actual cost of selling the Titan and getting another new vehicle that is more friendly on the wallet. If you do the numbers, it's mostly a wash, especially in the short run.

i'm willing to pay 400-800 more a year to drive the car i really really want. i guess that it's also good that i only live 15 miles from work and most things in kansas city are relatively close. gas prices are already starting to go down a bit. let's hope they keep going.

something else that helps is to compare the titan to other vehicles. my boss drives a Cayenne S and it takes premium. ouch. he lives 30 miles from work. ouch.

I got a boat to tow and am thinking about a camper....I am a keepin my Titan.

I apologize ahead of time for my question but I just have to ask:

What were you thinking when you bought this truck in the first place? Didn't you factor in that eventually the price of gas was going to go up? I mean just look at the last few years, this is not news.

Understand this, I sold the truck because I did not want to pay those prices every week. Maybe you have money to crap away but in the long run I will be much better off than the minor loss I took. I did not get a crappy 4cyl I got a maxima that will take half as much a month to keep running than the titan. I still have a great car, power when I need and super gas milage for what it is. My truck was a luxury not a necessity. I did take into account gas was going to rise but not at the rate it has. Over the course of about a year and a half I will have made up my loss on gas alone. Like I said not a huge loss on my truck. I got an awsome deal on the Max. If you dont agree then thats your choice. I knew the thing sucked gas when I bought it, and gas was almost a dollar cheaper also. So twice as much to fill it up than when I bought it is unacceptable. If I had a raise or two in between then that would be managable but its not. It will be 3 bucks here in houston in the next month, wait and see. 75$ to fill it up weakly. Good luck all and it's been fun!!

Exactly my thoughts. Its big bad boy with a V-8 Hello!!!

When adjusted for inflation 1981 was the highest year for gasoline. If gas goes over $3.07/gal soon then we will be above 1981's price. It is like housing or anything else spend your money on what you enjoy and this is my first full size truck and I loooooooove the power, so I will keep pumping gas. I still have my almost showroom like 1992 4 cylinder Toyota PU sitting around but it is not much fun to drive compared to my Titan.

I sold the ole gas hog. I loved that truck but the gas price is just to damn high. I cant see myself paying that much and only going a week on fill ups. It's been fun see ya!

I wonder if taking a 4to 5 thousand dollar hit is worth trading in the Titan. I for one can't justify it. To sell this awesome truck and buy something that gets me 21mpg. So I can save 6 mpg, unless the car gets 40 mpg or over its gonna take you years to recoup that money back. Thats figuring gas staying where it is now. I think eventually it will come lower than it is now. :eyebrow:

I'm sorry to hear about the decision but it sounds like the way you described it that you're making the right call for you.

I'm actually doing the calculation myself on some options. Biking to work is becomming a good choice! Buying a used car another if the money works out...

I don't think 37L1 was dissing you. I think he was pointing out that trucks aren't known for great gas mileage and the margin that you should be willing to pay for keeping one is higher and be prepared for it. That's all.

Anyways, I hope to hear from you on the Forum still and who knows...Gas drops and stays to a reasonable level and maybe the Maxima will be the one to get traded in! :eek:ral:

My employer is starting to give us $40/wk gas money. Yeah!
