Newbie here. After months of debate, haggling, searching, scowering, leaving multiple dealerships etc., I finally pulled the trigger on a very nicely equipped, black, 08' CC, SB, 4x4 LE yesterday.

I traded in what was my third Toyota Tacoma! Back in the day, the Yota' durability was unparalleled. Now days? not so much and it was just time for a change. I felt that the Tacomas no longer had everything I wanted and the Tundras are just ungodly expensive and again, the reliability and customer support from Toyota is NOTHING of what it once was. With my research and talking with Nissan owners that I know, I feel comfortable in choosing the titan and hope I made the right decision.

As for the truck itself, I love it! I've never owned a vehicle with so many bells and whistles (leather, sunroof, heated seats etc.) and it's a MASSIVE step up from my 04' taco. The truck is super clean and solid and it came with the Banks exhaust already on it. It sounds awesome, drives great and is super comfortable. Hell, the wife even loves it!

Anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself and thought you might get a kick out of a loyal Toyota owner ditching his truck for a Titan. Any tips, advice etc. you guys want to shoot my way being a newb and all...feel welcome.

Congrats, I was going from an F150 (FX4) to a Tacoma... but just couldnt wrap my head around the price. I know they are great trucks, but for 2K less than I was going to spend on a used Tacoma I bought a loaded PRO4x Titan. Dont regret it for a minute. Check the forum out, plenty of info and ways to empty your pockets!

Now get some pics posted!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard!

One of the dad's at school has a nice little taco with some mods and we chat a lot about out trucks respectively. His issue currently is his chassis rusted through right behind the front axle, completely. He said he's pretty upset, loves the truck and hates to ditch it but feels he has too. Did you experience anything like that in your ownership? He made some plates and welded them in, looks pretty good too.

Welcome to TT! I too was stuck in that debate between taco, tundra, fronty, titan, F150. Basically.... the PRO4X I have was a steal with all the bells and whistles! I love it, just waiting for the right time to MOD.

I never had any rust issues in any of my Tacomas...mainly because of where I live. My last tacoma ( 07' x-runner) had heavy valvetrain noise @ only 20k miles and at around 40k the trans and then the throw out bearing went. With my 04' I had the same valvetrain noise (dubbed the taco tic) and the trans started to go @ 100K. All very VERY common problems in the tacoma's and now alot of guys are reporting sudden and catostrophic engine failures below 100k miles. You will have to fight toyota to the death for all of the above. I have a friend that is on his 3rd motor in an 09' tacoma.

Welcome!

I have to say, I was so close to buying a Tacoma before getting my Titan.
I liked the 2013's, fun to drive and looked nice, but I just couldn't get over the fact that Toyota couldn't put the upgraded JBL stereo in their TRD model. (maybe Canada only)
Plus its 2013 and they still didn't have a locking tailgate.
I then looked at the frontier, but the interior was just weird for me.

I thought, "oh what the hell" might as well just peek at the Titan.
And we all know what happens when you just "peek" at something.

Congrats and welcome to TT man!

You are right about Nissan fixing the majority of the bugs that the 04 - 07 have but the 08+ Titans still have the same sh!tty axle vent, it's a very cheap kit that you can buy straight from our forum vendor, Cajun B-Pipes, here's the thread http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/160093-cajun-axle-vent-kit.html
Just hit up TT member Nightowl and he'll take care of you asap, much better to spend about $25 - $30 (+5 min install) on the kit now and have that peace of mind than to potentially paid hundreds or even thousands later on new rear seals or a whole new rear end, all because of a sticking axle vent.

BTW the Banks Monster exhaust does sound awesome and I can't wait to get it for my T too!
Any plans for the T? Any mods in the future?

Thanks for the tips gentlemen...I can see already Ill like this forum. Coming from toyota and mustang forums, lets just say things are....uhh....DIFFERENT. Ill get on that axle vent mod a.s.a.p!!!

As far as what my plans are for the truck, since it already has exhaust, Ill of course get a CAI (any tips on which one?) and the bully dog tuner. Also, I had planned to do a leveling kit but the front already looks REALLY close to level with the rear. Ill have to give her a closer look when I have some time. Other than that, Im just gonna baby it the best I can and focus mainly on my fox mustang as far as modding goes.

Depends on your needs. Power or a fraction of a bit of Gas Mileage. If you want raw power and a nice throaty rumble, go with an Airaid MXP Cold Air Intake.

Its probably the best intake out there right now for the Titan, but the jury is still out on if it actually decreases gas mileage on some versions of our trucks.

In my experience, I have gained very little to 1 MPG on average with the Intake.

Once your intake is paired to the BDGT, it's an entirely different truck!

Thats especially noticeable with 93 octane gas, Performance Tune, Performance Throttle, WOT OFF, and 2 degree timing advance.

Just turn off Traction Control and have fun doing burnouts!

As others have stated, this forum is great and full of helpful, nice, cool knowledgeable Titan owners. A lot of good friends are made on this forum.
Great choice on the BDGT!
As far as intakes go, the 4" AirAid MXP CAI still seems to be the forum favorite, I run it and love it, there have been a few members that have lost 1 or 2 MPG because of it which is weird but many have not had any issues like that.

Lol! I had been driving an '02 Frontier since 2005 and with 220k on it I knew it was time to "update." I had always wanted a Titan but didn't think I would ever be able to afford one. On a whim one day last February went to the dealer...just looking of course...and drove a couple Ts. The first one wasn't quite what I was looking for but the second one...man, it was all over even before I pulled out of the parking lot. A Blizzard White 2012 CC SV 4x4 that only had 25 miles on it. Dealer gave me a great deal, way more than I hoped for for my Frontier, and a payment I could live with. Never thought I'd dig a white truck but the color has grown on me and I farkin' LOVE my truck! Mods are coming slow and steady...but the wish list is endless.

Welcome to the family wisenthefools! Btw...dig your avatar. RIP Dime! \m/

The MXP sounds pretty sweet...the drop in mpg concerns me a tad but then again, did we buy these beasts for the mileage? Negative! That doesnt mean I want the mileage to tank though either. Is there an intake that is a good compromise between performance and mileage? Ill probably just utilize the ol' search button. Again...you guys seem really cool and Im lookin forward to all the knowledge here!
