Hey Everybody:

I wanted to know if anyone has ever replaced the dashlights in any car or truck you have ever had? I want to change all of the dim, dull, boring orange lights in my truck and put in some lights similar to the honda car just to brighten the interior a bit. Anybody know how to go about doing this?

bro, u totally read my mind...I was gonna post this like 2 days ago but thought Ill try to figure something out and once I do (if I do) Ill post a how to...but was thinkin and either way itd be a pain in th @$$ cuz the speedometer would be a b**ch...especially with the PDRN123 and the odo. being in like lcd form...I dont think either way u could change that (without an overlay or something even then...be hard)...

I never understood why Nissan went with the dim orange lights. Would be really nice to change it out. Get to work guys! ;)

Ok I will tell you what. I am at work right now but I will pull up my truck and look at the radio and see what it would take to change them out. Unfortunately I changed my Gauges out to the Infiniti QX56 gauges which are all LEDS. So I wont be able to tell you guys what it would take to change the color on your original clusters. Hey by the way while I am on the subject... Since changing the cluster out obviously the mileage wasnt exactly the same. The gauges hold the mileage when disconnected. So does anyone know of a way to set the mileage to show properly? Ok well Im going to grab my truck real quik and pull her apart. I will be back in a few! :)
About the odometer - not even the dealer can change the reading. It has to be done at the factory.

Hey guys I just wanted to let you know that I am in contact with Visteon in hopes that we can accomplish something. Actually I am in contact with 4 different companies. I will get something for us I promise! Hey Reg I read in a previous post that the Titan gauges are leds as well. Not sure if it is true though. I have been at the window switches and locks and all those goodies and they are all leds as well. I will keep everyone updated with what I can come up with. :)
We need to get something like these (check out the Quicktime movie - lower left). I'd be in for this setup!

I have been searching for information about changing to QX gauges. How much was it? was the install pretty straightforward? Anything else need to be changed to make it work?

I tried to search for it, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks for the help-

Hey guys, check this out!!! I have been a member on the 350Z forums for quite awhile now, and there is this high schooler in Dallas that can, and has done this. His work is amazing! Here is his thread where he changed ALL of the LEDs in his car over to a blue and red scheme. Before he went red like some of you here mentioned, and decided he didn't like it (I do not either to tell the truth).

Here is the link to his thread. http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166631&highlight=blue+gauges

The blue LEDs look amazing.

Aren't all the dash light LED's soldered onto the circuit board? While soldering is no big deal, I don't know if I would want to attempt that while under warranty.

Well from what I have gathered he can do any color. I havent received a reply from him yet but when i do i will let ya know. Also found out that he spent about $200 on parts alone. So now I have a dilema of either doing this mod or heading to technosquare and have them tune my truck. But technosquare just doesnt seem worth it to me just yet. GRRRR! I will keep ya updated!

200 on parts??? thats crazy...dont see how it could be that expensive...didnt he just change out LEDs and resistors??

I must be the only one who thinks that the dash lights are incredibly bright. They light up the whole interior, which is a distraction at night. I have them turned down as low as I can get them with the rheostat.

Hey there PI, I still havent heard back from that guy yet but I did find another guy out near me that says he is very experienced in this as well. Him and I should be meeting up this weekend and go over what needs to be done and so on. I was reading up on the 350z site and I do not believe that our radio display or our odo display are lcd's. Atleast the beckground isnt. The lettering might be but the background I believe is led lit. Meaning we can change to any color as well and still have the black lettering. I cant confirm this but that is the impression I got from doing some reading. I dont know which I want to do now, either change the led's or go to that shop in Torrance and get my truck tuned! Decisions Decisions!:gunz:
lol...well I think if u ddi the lights ud stand out and itd be something not everyone has done...the tuning u could always do later...but I think the lights would be cool....its true u could do the lights later as well but its all up to u bro... PERSONALLY I would do the lights, but Im more into looks than speed/power (I had my trans am for that and I doubt Ill ever get this truck that fast... :))

I am still trying to decide. Oh well, it is nice to have options. I want to help people out too who are on the fence about getting the tune done by going to this shop and posting my findings but man between my baby boy and I, I have no time or money anymore! Hey wait I got an idea! Anybody wanna buy a 13mo old baby boy? He has a great personality and comes with lots of......uhhh.....Love! Is it bad that I am laughing at my own joke as I am typing it? Ok well anyways. Whatever I do I will make sure to keep you guys updated. Oh by the way I am nearly finished installing my StylinConcepts LED scrolling message display on the black piece where my tailgate handle is. It is remote controlled so I can write anything I want anytime I want to whoever I want! It was shipped as a license plate holder but I enjoy the custom flush look on the tailgate better!:coolsmile
sounds interesting...keep us updated
