so let's say you have 6" lift, 35" tires.....what would be the driving characteristics be if you had the 4.10 and if you had the 4.56?
what would be the off-road difference be between the two also?

With the 4.10 you'd have low gearing with a ton of torque to creep over those technical obstacles in low range. And you'd have stump pulling power down low. Highway engine speed (rpm) will be 18% higher at any speed than it is now (with 3.36:1 gear ratio). So if you're turning 2000 rpm now at 75 mph you'll be turning 2360 rpm at 75 with the 4.10's. With 4.56's that percentage goes up to 26% and rpm at 75 mph will be 2525 rpm. So basically you'll want/have to slow way down when driving down the open road.

Are these engines not suppose to run 2500rpm plus in the open roads? The redline is close to 6k so I don't see a reason why we can't run them at 3k all day. I cruise in my '85 cruiser at 2500rpm. Its redline is around 4k and its still going strong at 180k miles. 'em I missing something here?:dunno:

Nah, not going to hurt anything. Try it, and see what you think.

Since I don't plan on going bigger than 33's, I'll try to get the 4.10. That should put me around 2300k rpm at 80mph. Since there is no programmer in the market available, what will we do to fix the gearing change and when will the gears be available?

I'm not to smart when it comes to gears but, I wan't big tow towning capability with stock accereration while runnin 35's. I currently have non-big tow runnin 35's. What would that be? And as far as MPG goes, who cares, it's a Titan!

You'll want 3.73's.

Thank you, thank you very much!! Then 3.73's it is, sign me up PRG!

OK, BT and stock 18's.. I want 40mpg..

Can I order some 0.750s? or some 1.00s? hehehe

yeah, but that wouldn't pull my camper. :dunno:

Let me add that part - I want 40+mpg while towing a 7000# travel trailer.

Uphill.
In the snow.
With the airconditioning on.
Pregnant wife riding shotgun.
Fat dog in the backseat chewing on rawhide.

Cool - I want what he's getting! Change that raw hide to a North Carolina pig ear for my bulldog - and add me to the list.

Well the 4x4 guys will have some gears that's for sure as Greg will get'r done. For us Streets you'll very likely lose your cruise control by going to a 3.73 and stock tires. maybe someone can do the math there? I'd bet you would need +22's and 315's to get diameters close enough to meet the ECU parameters.

I have 285/60/18 and my 2.94 to 3.36 was just 8mph off at tranny sensor according to NisanTech w/consult but Cipher said it was like 11-15mph between the 2 logged speed sensors. Problems I ran into is on a 25mph roll truck would rarely down shift to 2nd under WOT and cruise did not engage SET light blinking fast. Oh and I could cruise all day long at 108mph pedal to floor. After a reflash to stock 3.36 ECU everything works just fine and that's been nearly 10K ago.

I'm sure one day we will have the ability to change things but right now we gotta share what we find out. Love this web stuff.

Going from 2.94's to 3.36's is a 12.5% difference. So if you're speedo said 80 you were really only doing about 70.

I'm a bit surprised you had those other issues. Did you swap entire axle assemblies or just gears?
