Hey guys im new to the forum and all, im researching what truck to get when i graduate, and have my sights set on the titan so far. I have always been a true chevy fan, kinda tossed around the idea of a toyota tundra also. However the titan has really cought my eye lately. I have been lookin around reading the problems and recalls on the titan and am kinda hesitant, but, also know that every vehicle will have recalls and problems eventually especially if u drive it harder than the average day person. I just wanted to get your openion on what trucks to look at. I know the basics and all like the engine size and stuff from looking at their site, but would like to get some of your openions on the truck like the + & -
Thanks
-Nick

Hi, and Welcome to Titan Talk. They have pretty much done away with the problems, and the Titan is one heck of a truck. Are you looking at new Titan, or used? This forum has all the answers you will need.

Good choice looking at the Titan. Most of the bugs and quirks have been pretty much worked out after 3.5 years. The 4th generation benefits from all the fixes to the known problems. The nice thing is that Nissan didn't wait 5 or 6 years to fix the problems with a redesign. They tackled them right away. Good luck with your search. By the way, the search feature on here can give you lots of help. Enjoy your time here and let us know what you decide, no matter what it may be.

Well I'm a little more biased than my fellow members. I personally don't think there's currently a better ride or bang for the buck out there than the Titan. Search around, or if you come up with specific things you want to know just ask!

Be aware of the brake fix and the rear axle seals as well as the rear diff. Late 2005's should have all that fixed, but if you go for a 2004, have the dealer check the VIN to see what's been done to the truck under warranty.

Ok, thanks, the axle problem and the brakes were my biggest concern, Im more into the cc 2wd LE, but my funds may not like that to much. O and what does Qx56 stand for, and most other abreviations are kinda hard to understand im new to it all.

The QX56 is the Infiniti SUV. It's the fancy doo-dadded version of the Nissan Armada. It's also quite a bit more expensive....

What Blackbeauty meant was it's the Infiniti version of the Nissan Armada, which is basically the SUV version of the Titan. Oh, and welcome to Titantalk.

That's what I said. Quit changing my posts!:domohit:

i just bought a 2007 Nissan Titan LE crewcab... and by far, it's the best they i've bought! you won't regret it!

i test drove the F-150 XLT... and the power was a joke. the salesguy even told me to punch it... which i did, but still... it lacked power. funny thing was, the guy was smiling like Charlie Brown... when i was flooring it. he probably thought i was impressed or something. lol.

Thats pretty funny, iv always disliked fords, im glad to hear that these trucks are rid of most of their flaws, thats the only thing that was holding me back from liking them, and i figured with a 5.6L engine its gotta have a good bit of power and thats what im lookin for. Thanks for your help!

I have an '05 and for the most part it has been a great truck, I'm up to about 25,000 miles on my SE 4x4 King Cab.

I had a few oil leak issues when it was new, but basically once the right bolts were torqued properly all those problems went away.

I guess if I were buying used I would be looking for an '05, I have never been into the 1st model year of a new vehicle.

Good luck, get a Titan too by the way. :)

After reading what yall have said i will definitely be looking for one that was made late 2005, i agree with the first year modle thing too. Im fine with the gas mileage because its a full sized truck i dont expect it to be great on gas cuz its sutch a beast! lol Thanks for all your help, oh and i will definitely be getting a titan sounds like its all around rock solid!

i have an '06 and love it. i also did a lot of research and ended up with an '06 cc 4x4. best purchase yet! welcome to TT.

I personally would look at the new Tundra since it's only weeks away and you haven't bought a truck yet. I debated between the 05 Tundra and 05 Titan when I was hunting for the right truck back in 05.As for the price per HP, the Titan won all current trucks in 05. I look for QUALITY first, then comes power for what you're gonna use it for, then looks. But now that Toyota offers something that can do everything the Titan can, it might not be a bad idea to stop by the dealer for a closer look and feel of the new Tundra. If this 5.7 came out in 05, I would've bought one. Trading my truck now wouldn't be worth it since it does everything I need and it's not a lemon. Good luck with whatever you choose.

funny how you should mention about the 2007 Toyota Tundra.

during the time when i was buying my Titan... an older guy was there with his wife buying one too. what he told me was that he originally was gonna purchase the Tundra and even put down a deposit on the truck... but then, with Toyota's recent recall of the Tundras... he decided to get himself a Titan. what he ended up getting was a black SE.

Toyota is just all about hype. look at the T100 for example. back in the days, they said it was gonna be the truck to replace all trucks. lol. then, came the Tundra that replaced the T100. again, they said the Tundra was gonna be the truck to replace all trucks. lol. now, they're saying the same thing with this 2007 version.:hahano:

I went against my better judgment and bought a first year model. It's been to the dealer for weatherstripping, leaky rear window, and brakes.

Even though I had to hassle a little, I really love this truck.

I've owned Chevy's and GMC's in the past as well as sports cars and vans. I have also driven Ford's Chrysler's and Chevy's for a living. I can say without reservation, this is the best experience I have had with a vehicle in my life.

I have owned my Titan since 12/03 and I still smile when I drive this thing. I just can't believe it. It's strange!
