I was told when handed the keys that if I had a problem, I could come here to find a solution.
Good folks of this forum I find myself in a desperate situation.
My 05 Titan has been acting up lately. I've tried searching around but I just can't seem to find a clear solution to my problem.
Few days ago I was driving home from work and out of nowhere my truck died on me. When I say it died, let me elaborate; I was cruising at about 45 when the truck shut off the engine abruptly (like someone turned the key off) all my lights came on and I was forced to stop in the middle of the road.
I put the truck in park there, turned the key off and attempted to re-crank the truck. The truck wouldn't crank fully. You could hear it attempt to fully turn over but something just wouldn't let it crank. Leaving the truck sitting for a bit seems to solve the issue, however the problem will reappear at random times.
I've had it happen back to back to back as soon as I put it in drive. Had it happen as I slow down to turn into my driveway after a full trip with no issues.
There didn't seem to be much of a trigger at the time. I went home and did a little digging and decided to swap the fog light relay with the ecm relay. That seemed to help, until it happened again.
Some people have speculated a loose ground somewhere in other posts, others say it's a cps sensor gone bad.
I have noticed as this issue has persisted that the truck will buck a little at a random time and throw my slip light on, then within a few miles I will experience the issue again. However that slip or bucking doesn't always happen before the truck randomly dies.
Now she's old, I grew up in this truck before it became mine. It really breaks my heart to see her like this.
358k miles, no cats (racing exhaust was put in to solve a reoccurring problem)
Amsoil oil and diff fluid have been used through its entire life and Nissan atf fluid for the trans.
I went to the auto shop to borrow a scanner as I don't own much in the way of tools. The scanner pulled up 15 codes:
P1051
P1031
P0463
P0057
P0158
P0335
P1168
P1148
Some of them repeat twice out of the 15.
I've got the weekend to try and figure this out, I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section but if someone out there can help me make sense of all this I would really appreciate it.
