AZ: Sheep's Bridge **new pics added**

Now that the weather will be cooling off, I'm going to head over to the Sheep's Bridge on the Verde River. You can get there 3 different ways:

1. East side of Table Mesa (FR41) east to FR24 north to FR269 east to Sheep's Bridge.
2. Cave Creek Road to FR24 to FR269 to Sheep's Bridge
3. I-17 North to Bloody Basin Road (FR269) east to Sheep's Bridge

With the exception of the 1st riverbed crossing (which was washed out back in Feb), Option 1 is totally doable for 2WD vehicles without any assistance and minimal tire spin. Options 2 and 3 are totally doable for 2WD vehicles.

My preferred route is Option 1 because it is the most scenic, and there are some optional obstacles along the way for the 4x4 guys (although nothing too challenging).

So, who is up for this run?

EDIT: CB Channel 17; FRS 14.0

EDIT2: We are meeting at Table Mesa Rd and I-17 (exit 236) on the EAST side of the freeway at 9:00am. We will air down and be rolling by 9:30am at the latest.

This trip will take most of the day (6+ hours). We usually have lunch at the sheeps bridge, and then head out from there. Last time the group split on the return trip: half went back via Cave Creek and the other half went back via Bloody Basin Road.

EDIT3: I just posted some pictures from Robert's (RJCX) camera. Robert had the 2009 Xterra (with the factory offroad lights on the roof).

looks pretty cool. I'm not saying anything for sure but I'm definitly interested.

#4 ·
ya me too, i'm interested, we'll see...

#5 ·
No worries. I know this run is almost a month out, but I'm definitely going and there will at least by one other Xterra. There could be more Xs and some Frontys too. It would be cool to see some Titans out there as well.

Last time, I took Option 1 to Sheeps Bridge and came back to Phoenix via Option 3. If you live on the east side, you could go back via Option 2.

For those of you that don't know where Table Mesa is, take I-17 to exit 236. We'll meet at the dirt parking area on the east side of I-17 at 9:00am to air down and head out by 9:30am at the latest.

IM interested !

#9 ·
Thats cool guys. It would be great to finally wheel with some Titans.

Update: there will be at least 3-4 Xterras and 2-3 Frontiers there as well.

So my family and I are planning on being There .. maybe another Titan and a Taco too ..

#11 ·
I think I'll be there with my dad

#12 ·
^^ cool. Looks like this is shaping up to be a good sized run. We'll have to make sure to get a group picture down by the bridge.

#13 ·
how many miles will this be, phx back to phx.

#14 ·
^^ unknown, but if I had to guess I'd say about 100-120 miles. You won't need extra gas, if that is your concern.

#15 ·
Ya that was my concern. Thank you sir.

#16 ·
I just found out that the local Land Rover club is running from Cave Creek to Table Mesa, so we should get to see some built Rovers out there.

#17 ·
should i take off my sway bar for this? haha i posted this question on the other az thread thinking i was looking at this thread, such an idiot. that'd be awesome if we saw some rovers...

#18 ·
You don't need to, but you could. I threw both of mine out over a year ago now.

#20 ·
^^ yes sir. TM east side 9:00am.

For some reason, I thought you already had aftermarket coilovers. Yeah, definitely want to leave the front one on without aftermarket coilovers.

#21 ·
I guess technically they are aftermarket coilovers, newer model year coils, bilstein shocks. ha. I cant wait till the second. I just got back from goin on senator highway and poland road up here in prescott.

#22 ·
I will be there with my buddy. I guess you pulled him out in his little frontier out at lake pleasant on Sunday dumb ***, he thinks that little 2 wheel drive can go anywhere because he has some new tires.

#23 ·
Cool, it will be great to finally meet all you Titan guys! :rockon

That was Joe (08whitex) that pulled out your buddy. I was running Edwards Park Trail on Sunday.

2WD can be fun, but they do have their limitations. My first X was 2WD, and I wheeled it alot. But, I got stuck twice, and was pulled out by quads both times (I knew I was stuck and didn't bury my axles). My ex got the 2WD X in the divorce, and that is when I bought the 4x4 XOR.

I am supposed to have a family get together this Saturday morning, but I am going to see if I can cancel. I really want to make it to the run. Would I be the only 2WD?

#27 ·
^^I don't know if there will be any Titan 2WDs there, but there will be 2 Frontys: CrimsonDukk and richfrontier are both 2WD.

#29 ·
Bummer dude. One of these days we'll actually wheel together.

Good Luck with the quail hunt.

I had a great time today, and it was good to finally meet the TitanTalk crew!

Sorry I had to takeoff at the end of the run, but my engine temp was climbing quite rapidly, and I wanted to try to make it back to my house before I completely overheated. As it was, I had to stop off and put 1.25 gals of coolant (some in the overflow tank and some in the radiator).

Here is my only picture for the day. I forgot my camera battery, so this cell phone pic is the only one I took:

EDIT: I had called out on both FRS and CB (to let everyone know I had to keep running to try to keep the temps down), but I don't know if anyone heard me... Again, sorry for taking off, but I had to try to get back to civilization before overheating.

I had a really good time, and definitely want to run with you guys again.
