hopefully my cai and catback will be on the truck by then......then the advance at the meet. sick. /// as far as vendors, what can i expect?...i might try to squeeze a little extra change from the couch. i guess its a little too far for you to come down eh bb.:coolsmile

I haven't kept up on it that much since I can't attend, but tech12volts may be there... Greg from PRG has been known to make appearances at meets.... Kyle from Stillen... etc....

Yeah, too far for me at the moment... Last weekend I went to the meet in Virginia and in June I'll be at the Rockingham Dragway meet. So my calendar is already pretty full. At this point, I'm not ruling out next year or maybe even the fall event this year....

MORE RANDOM QUESTIONS BY THE NEWBIE:1.)i installed my volant cai last night (first mod), it took about 45 minutes. what is that vibration? i havent tried to adjust it yet, but if anyone knows exactly what it is please let me know.
2.) my 2nd question is a little off topic for this thread but: my truck has an annoying shimey in the rear at about 53 - 57 mph. the truck has never been wrecked and i have put new tires on it. could it be a rim? or a driveshaft? has anyone heard about this problem in titans??? thx

The shimmy could be alot of things... How recently have you had the tires balanced or the truck alligned?... As far as the vibes from the cai have how wiggled it around while parked? Is it realy tight? You may need some 3m double sided tape or rubber gromets (washers) on the mounting bolts.. Hope that helps...

thx for the reply sickboy. yeah i can rig up some tape or cushion for the box i guess, it'll give me a reason to hang out in the garage for a while. but the damn shimey is killing me, i have new tires and the truck rides straight. the old tires were no different so i dont think its the tires. if the truck rides straight, could it still be my alignment? i guess i'll just take it to a tire shop and have them check my rims and driveshaft. any other ideas?

What year did you say your truck is? You may want to search the TSB's for it and see what comes up. There have been alot of guys on here talking about wobbles and shimmys... Did it start out of the blue or right after you put the new shoes on it...

May be hard to snap a pic of a "shimmy"....

As stated before, anytime you have a "shimmy" you need to check wheels & tires first.

Check for alignment, balanced tires, bent wheel etc. If that's not the issue, then you work through the drive-train. Typically, wheel alignment and balancing tires fixes the issue.

when i had my jba evol installed, i dont think they unplugged my battery...were they supposed to? so my truck could re-learn the system? i guess i'll unhook it tonight and hook it back in in the morning....eh? does the ecu have to re-learn an exhaust? i thought it did. how long can i expect that to take? thx for you replies. -scrote:dude:

the reason why i ask is because it feels like i lost some horse power after the evol was installed. it feels like too much airflow. now what should i do (besides uprev, cant afford it YET). thanks dudes. when i had only the volant cai, it ran like a scalded dog.:eyebrow:

Exhaust is all show no go... haven't you heard? :)

You lose low end with a decrease in backpressure...and gain in the high end.

What exactly is the 2 degree timing? is it software download to your truck? and what does is excatly do?

Sorry Im just new here trying to learn.

what would a dealer charge you for something like this?

Thanks

The link in my sig shows how it's done and talks about it breifly. Software accesses the trucks computer and tells it to advance timing 2 degrees.

Usually this software is the dealers consult II or consult III but there are other ways.

Dealers can charge from nothing to a lot for this 'mod.' Typical rates are about 1/2 hour of shop time. If they need anymore time than that to press some buttons on the Consult III, get your truck out of their incompetent hands FAST!

The easiest way to go about training your dealer and tech on how to do it is to search for the directions here, copy and paste them into a document that is nice and clean to read and print them out. Then take them to the dealer and tell them this is exactly what you want.
