I can't believe I am saying this, but I have been looking at Rams lately.

They have employee pricing plus $3500 cash allowance which takes almost $8000 off MSRP. I can get a FULLY-LOADED SLT Quad Cab with Sunroof, 4x4, HEMI, and all the options for 27k.

I don't know though, the Titan is a lot better in a lot of areas, but for the price, I don;t know - the Ram is just way cheaper. I can get an SE for about the price of the fully-loaded Ram. What do you guys think about the Ram? Try not be biased! I will probably still end up getting a Titan, especially if they do some really good rebates at the end of the year. What did they do last December?

NOTE: This post is OLD and was before I bought my Titan! Post made in 2005 before I bought my Titan! lol

I guess it all comes down to what you like. When the Rams first came out, I really liked their "big rig" look, but now the front end turns me off, big time... looks like a cow. The rest looks okay.

I rented one for about three days before I got the Titan. I found myself disappointed with the power (but it wasn't a HEMI). The front part of the cab was comfortable and nice, but the rear seats of the crew cab were inferior to those in the Titan.

I also, personally, did not like the way the vehicle handled. Yes, it had a cushy ride, but the steering was cushy also. I know some people like this (like driving on a cloud), but I didn't enjoy the "loose" feel to the steering and the way the truck seemed to tip over a bit while turning. I prefer the tight, precise steering of the Nissan.

I have to admit, too... I've always gravitated toward somewhat offbeat products. I -like- being the different guy with the different truck, rather than one of the legions of big-3 automaker truck owners.

The quad cab is like a titan King cab that was one of the big sellers of the titan plus the titan felt better and seemed to give you more. Trust me I wanted a black hemi sport in a bad way but I am very glad I got the titan even though it doesn't have a hemi. And I'm a big mopar nut from way back.

It is a buyers market guys! Are you gonna buy a Hemi?

27K is what I paid for my loaded Titan 4X4 LE.
I've always like the Dodge trucks, but after the wife's Durango, I really went sour on them. Constant, major problems. Maybe we just had a bad one, because I know many Dodge owners who are very happy with their trucks, but it really turned me off of them. I looked at several different trucks before deciding on the Titan, but I didn't even consider Dodge.
Good luck, on whatever you decide.

Will it still be a "buyer's market" in December/January? That is when I am buying...
Interest rates are climbing - I would imagine the Employee Pricing will be gone by then. I suppose if your good a negotiation and you have time to burn - then you can get this pricing all the time. At least this is what some people on here have said - they call the Employee Pricing a gimmick. Either way while it is here - I think buyers are at an advantage when considering a car or truck from a non-Employee Pricing scheme such as Nissan. When it comes down to it they all have four spinning wheels and an engine...beyond that go for the cheapest price possible for the configuration you want!

I've owned both: 04 Titan CC 4x4 Xe & 04 Dodge Ram Hemi QC 4x4 SLT.
My Ram stickered at $35,600 - bought it in Novemeber long before employee pricing came out for $25,500.
I've put 19,600 miles on the Ram since Nov 30 2004, without a single issue except a door weather strip that was replaced the first week - wasn't stuck on properly. As some one stated earlier the ride was a little like floating - but I quickly removed the stock shocks & replaced them with Bilstein's and that made a huge difference. Mods for the Ram hemi are plentiful if you like modding out your trucks. Do keep in mind I had a first year titan that was plagued with annoying problems - the only big issue were the brakes - I went through 3 sets of rotors in 22,000 miles, and it's my understanding from some others that even the latest 'permanent fix' isn't always working.
I've been a Nissan fan for 19 years, we've always had one in the driveway - our 2001 Pathfinder has 83,000 miles on it and runs like it's new.
I like my Ram Hemi a whole lot more than I did my Titan for a variety of reasons.

The bottom line is that you should buy what you really like.

Drive them both on the same day. Then, buy the one that tugs on your heart. Your gut feeling is usually right. Millions of people have bought fords, dodges, and chevrolets, and never had a bit of trouble out of them.

Remember why rebates are offered. TO MOVE VEHICLES. If you can't sell it, keep reducing the price until you can.

If we all puchased just what we needed, at the lowest posssible price, our economy would suck. We have the world's greatest economy because most of us buy what we want!

It's also why most people are up to their eyeballs in debt. They buy everything they want rather than need and when the bill comes they only pay the minimum payment. Now when those same people go to buy a new motor vehicle they either buy it by how much the monthly payment is or they buy a lower trim level because the one they prefer costs more than the can afford (choking on other bills) or buy because of rebates from companies who aren't selling large numbers who have to conduct business in this manner. Unfortunately some will even look past reliability and buy the cheaper item.
Yes, the Ram is a beautiful looking truck, I'd be lying if I said otherwise but I don't have the same gut feeling when it comes to owning it in the long run when the miles start to really add up. Good luck with your decision.

I too liked the looks of the Dodge Ram. When I started looking at trucks, I wanted to get a Ram. When I sat in the back seat of the Ram it was cramped. Great for kids, but not for adults on a long haul (Quad cab not a true 4 door truck). The thing that turned me off the most, was seeing the Dodge Ram on every street corner. You couldn't drive 1/2 mile without seeing a Ram. Same goes for the Ford and Chevy. The Titan kind of set you apart from all the other trucks.

The best advice on picking a truck, is to get something that will meet your needs and make you happy. You do not want to be driving down the road a month later saying to yourself, I wish I would have bought that truck. Sometimes you just have to pay a little more for satisfaction.

My 2 cents

There is a difference in the Ram QC & Titan CC back seat room - I rarely have adults in the back seat of my truck so it was not a big issue - my kids are 5 & 7 and there is plenty of room for them - I have had 3 adults in the backseat on a short road trip - while they didn't complain I'm sure they weren't as comfortable as they would have been in my Titan. I would say in terms of utility that the rear seat room is the biggest noticeable difference - but is a difference that didn't matter to me for our typical uses.

I would suggest the same - drive them both on the same day - in fact drive them both 4-5 times.

The Hemi engine for the 2006 is the same 5.7 as before it just adds the programming found in the Jeep & Durango Hemis with the cylinder deactivation system to make it more fuel effiecient on the highway.

Ram vs Titan

Gearman1987 is right. Buy what you would like.

I bought the Titan knowing full well that a first year production vehicle will have its share of issues and some lines have to go through growing pains before they hit their stride...

If you like modding your truck, other brands have way more goodies than the Titan at this time.

I've always liked Fords and the Dodge has looked good to me.

I'm curious as to what you are trying to compare between the two other than price?

I traded my 2002 Ram Quad Cab SLT in for the Titan I have now. I never had any trouble out of Dodge, in fact when I looked for a new truck I went back to Dodge. They pretty much gave me the run around on price and tried to play games with me. So I just took my Ram and went to Nissan. I was just interested in looking at first, but the more I looked the more I liked. The Titan has excellent features that the Ram's just don't at this point and time. The price is what attracted me to Dodge in 02, the size the accessories and the name. They beat both Ford and Chevy, now that Nissan has entered the Full Size Truck market, it has a really good product out and I believe the truck is excellent. Dodge is good and the Ram is a nice truck, but I really like my Titan and there have been no regrets.

Thats what I tried to tell my wife but with a 1 month old she's been in the back with him a good bit and I'm sure she's happy with the added room and it gives me a little flexibility. I like the scarceness of the titans right now and the ride is so comfotable and reliability with the Nissan where the big sellers. We sold a 96 Infiniti G20(infiniti's sentra) with 225K and still got $1,500 for it and it was pretty much problem free for at least 200K can't say that about my old Dakota or Suburban.

The dodge dealers knock all that $ off because their cars are priced too high to begin with. People who by Dodge, Chryslers, et; dont get sh** for them when they trade em in. I used to work for a Dodge dealer. If you are looking for better financing options I understand. When we go to get rid of our Titans we will get more $ than if we had a Ram.

I have owned both Titans ('05 and '06) and a Dodge Hemi 1500 Ram (2003 Quad Cab 4x4). The Dodge was a nice truck, and I enjoyed it, but it was an incredible gas guzzler. I think the best mileage I ever got was travelling from the Pocono Mountains of PA to Wilmington,DE...a trip which is mostly downhill, and which yielded a mileage figure of approximately 16 mpg. I found the Titans to be "tighter," more fuel efficient (20 mpg highway), and most of all...the Titan has an engine that from my experience, would run circles around the Hemi, despite the fact that the Hemi advertises 345 HP and the Titan indicates 305 (now 317) in their ads. Much of it may have to do with gear ratios....either that or the Nissan truly under-reports the HP present in the Titan V8.

However, as others have said....which ever vehicle tugs at your heart strings is the one you should buy. Having personal choices is a wonderful luxury!

The Dodge Ram is a real good truck, as is all the trucks nowdays. If you want to find reasons to put down the Ram then I'm sure there are plenty of silly reasons, but after the dust settles the truth is that they are a great truck.
The question for you is the Ram a great truck for YOU?

For example, if the Quad cab is too small for your needs, then maybe it's not the truck for you, but it's still a great truck...

Dodge makes a good truck the Hemi is a good engine, The only thing that worries me about Dodges it the long term reliability, If you keep your vehicles for a long time the Titan may be better in the long run, I had a 95 Ram with the 5.9 and after it hit about 65K everything started to go one thing at a time from the fuel pump, to head gaskets, to ball joints, to the starter, to catalitic converter, to window motors, brakes prematurly, at 125K I finally decided it would be much cheaper to buy a new truck coarse time will tell how the Titan holds up.

I like the Ram too, but I prefeer the Titan. The Ram gets old quick, and they're always re-designing them, so you buy 1 now and 2 years down the road, they come out with a re-designed one. Nissan on the other hand is pretty good on keeping a "style" for a while. By the time they re-design their cars and trucks, you already paid off yours and you're ready for the new one. This is the case of the redesigned 08 and the new HD in 09. I have an 04, and guess what I'm doing in 09?
