As some of you amy or may not have known. I hired my firts employee a 2 weeks ago. He is an 18 year old kid that just graduated high school. He has yest to see a paycheck. He actually owes me money and heres why. After 2 days of watching me build boxes he caught the bug to upgrade his system.

He has a 2000 reg cab silverado .System when he started 2 weeks ago.
1 Factory head unit.
2 Factory door speakers and rears
3 Phoenix gold 400 wat mono amp
4 2 Phoenix Gold octane 10s

after 2 weeks
1 pioneer premier 490
2 Mb quart ref 216 mids and tweets front
3 boston sa 746 rears
4 Upgraded charge wires
5 Stinger hybrid cap with voltage readout that he can read in his rear view mirror because of how he mounted it.
6. Sundown SAE 4 by 50 that has not even been released yet. Long story this was supposed to be my amp.
7 Sundown 1000d mono amp
* 2 kicker l5 12s that run you out of the vehicle.

I snapped a couple pics tonight but they are bad pics. my batteries were almost dead. They are bad even by my standards of pics. But here they are. And this is the first install he has ever done. I pointed in the right directions and helped to make sure he did not shoot any screws into wires or out the bcak of the cab. But he did the work

I work for myself also and I got to say brains is number one . But pride I think is even more important . Someone can be taught that has half a noodle but someone that doesn't give a s*hit just doesn't give a S*hit. Good work from him can't wait to see what he does in six months .

yes I agree you can not teach someone to take pride in what they do.
He is a rare find. Shows up to work 30 minutes to a hour early and opens up the shop and blows all the dust out every morning and starightens out all the tools .

Hey James,
Did you check to see what the voltage would be without the cap? I was just curious what kind of difference it made.

Well let me explain . the cap has dial on it that is set to a factory setting. . He decided 15 volts had to better than 14 so he turned it. I readjusted it correctly with a volt meter. This si a trcik some shops use to sell caps. The vehicle before the cap and wire upgrade on the charging system dropped to below 12 volts when the subs would drop really low.

Now with both done it never drops below 12.6 at idle.

so did you set him up with a nice payment schedule?

seems like the issue i had in my old 79 regal was the lack of a cap... i never had enough juice, particularly on moist morning, forget about it when it was raining... ah to be 16.
yes he pays 50 dollars a week. Yes to be 16 again. those were the days. No worries

it is a nice looking prototype...when can we expect these out Jacob?
Not sure yet... the proto is good but maybe not "good enough" for me. I am working on another revision of the SAE-50.4 to compare this one to before making final production arrangements.

I would like to see more FETs in the power supply section, while the current arrangement hasn't caused any problems and works quite well... it's just the way I like things. The current proto has 4x FETs and the other version will have 6x FETs... we'll see how things work out on the second version for price / performance, then I'll go from there!

Thats great to hear that you arent going to just put something out because it works Jacob! You take the time to make sure that the quality is top notch!!

For those of you that dont know Sundown Audio, Jacob is the owner and they make great products. You can read more about them here.

http://www.sundownaudio.com/

Also if you'd like to order any contact James (Tech12) and he'll cut you a great deal on these great amps. They have killer quality but reasonable prices!

I've only read about these amps, and everything has been great. When I get back home to Houston I'm going to definitely consider these amps.
