Hey Guys, Just wondering what the main cause of the service engine light being activated. i have had this dealt with twice already, now on my way to work today it went on again. The last time it was fixed the dealer said it was some sort of seal, not sure what they were talking about. Is this something I could drive on for a while as i can't get it into the shop until next week sometime. Also i heard that the light will reset after a certain amount of times turning the ignition key is this true ? Thanks for the help.

The CEL is for emissions componants. 99% of the time it's a loose gas cap (the light can come on if you're the type who fuels up while letting it run) or the typical crappy Bosch O2 sensors Nissan has used for years.

mine turned out to be a bad left catalytic convertor where the honeycomb internally broke apart thus setting off the SES light. had that replaced, but it was too late! turns out schrapnel from the bad cat had been sucked back in and blew my motor. with 54,000 miles had a long block engine replacement and now she runs strong like bull again ($0 paid).

word of advice, don't just do the reset cause you can, get that code pulled and find out exactly what it is from a service tech!
