Traction Bars... Yes or No?

As the modding to my Titan comes to an end, I'm considering one last upgrade... traction bars. I was checking out the 2011 Dodge Ram's and they come from the factory with a rear sway bar and traction bars, so they may be worth it. I've got the rear sway bar and I know axle wrap is somewhat of an issue with the Titan, but do the bars make that much of a difference?

I found this video on Youtube illustrating their benefits. Kinda made me go hmmmm....

great video and soo glad they did that on a lifted truck. I dont have any and frankly I dont think I would add any reason being is that it adds more weight. I locked the hellwig into place with tension on the adjustment bolts so I really dont have any issues other than some tire chatter from the smaller tires I'm running these days.

Now that I think about it I think you should make a video SOLEy because the under sideof your truck is likely factory fresh and woudl soo much better.

Too funny Randy!!! LOL I may make a video just for you! I'll get Brain to be the camera man...

I immediately felt the difference just pulling out from the shop, and highly recommend them. It just depends on what else you have, and why you think you need them. I do feel it was an excellent item for me, as I am aiming at road handling ability. I truly enjoy how my Titan handles on the road. I plan to upgrade my PRG this weekend, by adding tube bracing to the bars. I'll weld them on myself.

Thanks John for the feedback! Please post some photos when you're done.

Thanks Krh! Any drawbacks, noise, etc?

I have a slight pinion seal leak that i think is was caused by axle wrap, even though i have the cheapo bars.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Chris, How long has it been leaking? How may miles? The angle of the drive shaft slightly changed once we installed the drop shackles so that may have contributed. However, I think it's just a wear item... I hope. lol

It's been like this for a while... I've been periodically checking it & it hasn't gotten any worse over several months. Just thought i'd get some input from you guy's & see what you think.

I'd say yes although I don't have them installed them on my rig yet. I have a 2010 with 13,000 hard miles on her(rear tires practically bald). Last week I had a 6" Procomp lift installed and my rear-end feels very soft. Where I used to get some wheel spin or tail slide is now just mediocre acceleration. The 4" block has made my rear end mushy. Have fun with the sexual innuendoes.

One of the best investments I have made. If you have ever had to replace your transmission mount than you probably bought traction bars that same day haha.

 Torsion bars.... PRG... accept no substitute...

I considered going with the NFab ones but prefer the shorter "street" version PRG offers. I already have his endlinks and shackles, so I'm familiar with the quality products PRG and Greg produce...

BB, I know you've got a lift and upgraded shocks. Do you also have a rear sway bar? I'm wondering if there's any issues with having a rear sway bar and the traction bars? Hopefully TB will chime in as I think he's got a Stillen bar like me...

Thanks for the feedback man! Both look to be great quality, but from the photos and research I've done the NFab's are longer and look kinda silly on a street truck. On a lifted truck they look great!

They all fit with no interference. But, be sure all the bolts are lubricated heavily with Anti Seize if through a steel bushing! Dry bolts rusting in place cost me today. I could not drive out the Rear Bolts on the traction bars, which have been on for 4 years I think. Absolutely great performance on all of it though! I could really feel having the Sway Bar disconnected one one side today. Do it. :)

Traction Bars will fit, but RAS serves somewhat same purpose in this regard. Traction bars mount at front edge of the plate that the Axle U bolts go through, and then 4 foot forward onto the Frame. RAS is all on top of the Springs.

The RAS did not save my tranny mount. The tranny mount broke the first time offroading with the lift (had the RAS installed prior to lifting). Installed traction bars and the mount has lived through many offroad excursions. The rear is much more planted on-road now too.

You get what you pay for with the traction springs. Traction bars are superior in every way.

Yes, I decided they'll be the last mod I do to the Titan. :)

I've got a couple of mods collecting dust that I need to get installed first. LOL

Started working with a company and taking a look at the possibility of fabricating a "bolt-on" set of traction bars... stay tuned!!!

Gary, let me know when you go to Nick's shop for some installs. I'm going to be ordering some suspension and possibly headers soon, so I'll need some help ;) lol...headers....Me and Dave at Nick's shop got in an argument. I guess he's the Master tech. I don't like him. That is a story for another day. Hit me up when you may swing through there

Okay guys I got Calvert Racing to agree to expand their product line of "Caltrac" Traction Bars to include the Nissan Titan. They have access to a Titan and can take any measurements needed and then test fit accordingly.
The "Caltrac" Traction Bars are a complete "bolt-on" solution and will include all the brackets and hardware for installation.

Below are some links to reviews/write-ups on the traction bars from various forums and vehicle makes.

They may be able to give us a discount for a group buy if enough folks show interest and slightly lower the ~$369.00 price. Please list your name below so I can give them an accurate number of folks ready to purchase. They indicated to me that the time needed to fabricate the brackets for the Titan is minimal, so you'll need to have the money ready shortly.

Thanks for the bump Paul and Rbt! They can adjust the bracket design to fit 4x4's or lowered Titans without issues. I'm sure they'll need to create at least 2 different part #'s if not 3 for stock height/lowered and lifted Titans.

The Caltracs all attach the same way to any vehicle with leaf springs. Check out some of the links I posted to get an idea of installation and mounting...

Hopefully they'll see we're serious and really make it happen. The design and their reputation is spot on. I'm ordering a set regardless of how many folks show interest... But a price break is ALWAYS a nice thing so keep going guys!!!
