UpRev for Dummies?

Is there a thread out there showing step-by-step guide for acquiring and installing Uprev on our Titans? I have been wanting to jump on it for a while, but want to know exactly what I'm getting into.

All I am aware that is needed is the Uprev cable including their software and a Windows laptop. Do you install it with the stock tune and send them a baseline, or do you go ahead and install whatever tunes they provide, hope it works and data log it?

All I will have different from stock is an intake and true duals.

I'm actually in the process of ordering it now.

If I were you I would just buy Osiris standard. Since mine is used I have to buy each tune at 50 a pop. So, I am only getting one for now. When you buy new from them, you will get 5 tunes I believe and you can change them on the fly with the cruise control buttons.

Here is the email and base map info they requested...copy and pasted from their email to me!

''There is a license on the cable. You can purchase a etune and we will send you a base map. Email us the order # here and fill out the base map request form''

May want to change #5 to 1500RPM because when the truck is cold it goes above 1000RPM and sounds funny with the truck turning on and off. :teethmast

This happened to me so I changed it...

I'm still new to it, but here is what I gathered.

Send them your ECU# w/ current mods
They will send you back a base ROM
Apply the ROM, then data log what you want (0-60, cruising at 70, driving around town, etc) Logs need to be grabbed while you are doing the above
Send logs to Uprev, and they will fine tune and send you the ROM
Apply and all is well.
I have a ECU that isn't listed, so I have to dump my .bin and send in to be cracked, then start the process.

GL, it's been a process for me

Sorry I'm on my phone and can't post long detailed posts very coherently but I'll do my best.

Uprev is the company, Osiris is the product. It's an ecu reflash that allows your ecu to be completely retuned, eliminating the WOT restriction, calibrating the A/F ratio and timing, disabling any DTC's for good in the ecu,
Setting the rev and speed limits, etc.

It's completely software based, and has licenses,
Much like Microsoft windows. The licenses are transported on cipher cables, then flashed onto the ecu to make it tuneable. One the license is transferred onto the ecu you can reflash an update or new tune as many times as you want.

There are 3 ways to get Osiris. Buy standard
From uprev for 500 plus shipping, they mail you the cable, you datalog and email back to them the results and they modify the tune (rom file) and email it back to you. When you buy direct from them for full price you get 3 of these updates for free. I you buy it used you do not get them. Everyone else can still purchase these etunes but they're $50 each.
downside is you cannot access, modify, or even view your own tune.
2 buy Osiris tuner for 700 plus shipping. They send you a cable with special code that allows you to make as many changes
To the rom file as you want, you can completely tune the truck yourself or just make small changes. It does not include
Any etunes.
3 go to a protuner shop and get tuned. Expensive and you don't get the cable, so you can't flash back to stock later and sell used or use it on a different vehicle, but the dyno tune will always be more spot on than etunes.

At any time if you want a dyno tune you can go to a protuner and jut pay for the dyno time (usually 300 or so) since you already have the license.

Of course if your wife is into that sort of thing, maybe its a good thing? ^^^

Don't post it out in the open ... there are people here that use it for security

I have this question too.

Also, if I do like this example:

EXAMPLE
Map
1 93 octane tune +7200RPM +160MPH
2 Low octane tune
3 Stock tune -speed limit
4 Valet mode (35MPH, 3000RPM)
5 Anti theft mode (1MPH, 1000RPM)"

Which are etunes? Just number 1? Where/how do I get the others that are not etunes? Is there a bank of these "other" non performance non custom maps to pull from?

I asked all this to uprev directly but got no love.
Just FYI on the RPM limiter settings. Up/Rev is going to tell you the same thing they told me, keep it set to stock.

I also have a Valet Map also with it set to 3500rpm/ 35mph. :eyebrow:
MAKE SURE YOUR NOT IN THIS MAP WHEN YOU PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC!!!! :teethmast

When they make changes like AFR's corrections to a Map they usually make it to all of them & that constitutes as 1 etune.

Nice! I did something similar, 87 octane tune, Towing and 91 octane tune! Still waiting on my maps from Uprev. I emailed them the info on May 12th, granted that is a Saturday. So, I guess it only counts from Monday, 14th. Hopefully I'll get my maps soon! My 4'' Airaid MXP delivers tomorrow and my T has been on a stock tune (sold superchips cortex for uprev) for like a week now and it SUCKS!! :teethmast

Using the Cruise Control Buttons...

-Hold the set/coast toggle down
-Press "Cancel" once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...
-Then release the set/coast toggle.
-When you release the toggle, the cruise "SET" light on the dash will blink once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...

It's just that simple.

All cruise control functions work as usual when you're not holding one down.

And yes, you can change tunes on the fly... It's not recommended... kinda like texting while driving... and if you accidentally go into "Valet Mode", well, you won't like that on the highway.

Well ... there goes the security part ...

I think it would be worse for me cause if I hit the security map its #1 :teeth: from 75mph to 1mph "idhitit2:

Thanks BlackBeauty. Whenever I heard or mentioned "on the fly" I just thought more along the lines of being stopped and not having to upload or reflash like the canned tuners. But now the you mention it, is there a risk of someone, perhaps a wife, of accidentally doing this while while driving as she does her normal put the truck in cruise by just pressing, holding, banging various buttons until it works.

Honestly, it's a bit of a contortion to hold one down and hit another button with the same hand... It's easier with 2 hands. So accidentally doing this with one hand while driving or trying to set the cruise is very unlikely.

Can't say it could never happen. I can tell you that in 4 years, it has never happened to me. :D

You will get used to it. Actually i rarely switch maps anyways... It stays in 93 Map 99.9% on the time! :eyebrow:

Ditto... I hate when I'm in economy mode... and want to get on it to merge at an onramp (yeah.... that's why I get on it... honestly.... that's the only time....) and it bucks and pukes on me.... I HATE that!

Thanks everyone. Maybe this should be a sticky. There is more clear and concise info in this thread than I have found in hours of searching this forum, other forums, and on the actual uprev sight. Had I known all this info I may have pulled the trigger on uprev a long time ago. As it was back when deciding on a tuner, I emailed uprev these questions several times and got absolutely no response so I got the BDGT. Thanks again from me and all the other confused potential uprev purchasers.

From what other people have posted they seem to be pretty good at getting back to people who have the product, but don't seem to have the care or time to respond to people who don't have it yet.:(

#37 ·
Naw, that's not how it work ... the engine would just idle until it reached 1MPH HAH!

#40 ·
That info has been posted a million times on the web. I don't think its top secret anymore...

...but then knowing which map is which is! :eyebrow:

All good buddy! No biggie... :)

Mostly likely if someone tried to mess with mine they would either accidentally choose Stock Map or even better the Valet Map! LMAO

...but they would never be able to make it much past that... They would NEVER be able put in "D" to drive away in my T! :eyebrow:

Got my 7S077 base map rom today. Guess I'll be toting my desktop out to my T again to load it up. :bangit: :hahano:

What is the best way to do your data logs?? Do you just gun it standing still up to 60mph?? Do I drive around town for little while?? I want an 87 octane tune, Towing tune and 91 octane tune for my 3 tunes since I am an 04. Can someone please post info for me as well as others that may not know for this process?? Also, do I need to have my computer in my truck while doing this?? If so, I will have to borrow a laptop from someone, I guess. I am confused on this whole data log process. I obviously don't race my T, since I am lifted and 35''s. But, I do love getting on it every once in awhile. So, I know I want WOT disabled on all 3 tunes.

Thanks for the help!

This is a document RB'sTitan sent me for the datalogging, it is very comprehensive, so read it carefully and follow the instructions. Go to the Uprev site and download the Osiris User Guide also.
