My T is an '07 running 35's. I have never geared to the truck to match the tires. My axle seal has started leaking recently, and I figure if I have to tear into it, I may as well change the gearing. Heres my question. I didnt really notice any difference in power when I went to the 35" tires, and I dont realy remember the mielage difference, since I lifted it pretty much as soon as I got home from the lot. I tow my boat all summer long. How many of you who re-geared there truck, noticed an increase in power and mpg? What gearing did you go with?

I'm in the same boat. I've been waiting and waiting for 3.73 to come out for 4 wheel drives. I've compared all the diff calculators, and the main thing I've found is 3.36 and 33s equals 3.56 and 35s. So, 3.73s should be a good match being slightly lower gearing than stock to make up for the extra weight of the 35s. Also, according to the calcs (at 70 mph) your RPMs will increase by 200 going from 3.36 to 3.73, and 200 more for 4.11s.

he's 2wd cause he's running a spindle lift.

and gears are out for 4wd titans too.. try a advanced search, do search thread titles and put in gears, or finally gears. lol by the time i've typed this sentence i could've searched it and posted a linky link. but that'd be too easy for all you peeps. :)

No 3.73 front gears yet. Only 4.11s and 4.56s. Unless I missed something...

Just go 411 and run 37's :)

Nordic, I just noticed you have the little mirrors. I based all of my numbers on the Big Tow gearing. You may have to figure out your own corrected RPM/MPH. I always go to differentials.com. They have some simple calculators.

Power?.....yes, mileage?...not a chance on my truck. I wish we had a deeper OD gear because my mileage which isn't good only gets worse after about 70 mph.

At 80 mph I'm spinning about 2500 rpm.....My 3.73 ratio is minimum for 35" tires....If I was towing i would consider 3.90 as minimum....

Mine is 2wd, without the tow package. At 75mph I am turning 1800 rpm's, at 80 its at 2k rpm. If regearing means that my rpm's will go up considerabley at 75mph, then I am not going to re-gear. Yesterday at 75mph, an asshole in a 98 mustang cut me off, so I swearved around him and he decided to punch it. Needless to say I beat him and let off at 110, I dont have a lack of power.

if you go 411 you loose cruise control, anything under your good;)

I have 4.56's in the front and rear and I still have cruise control. I just had it done about a week now and only broke in 200 miles, but so far my rpm band went up 200 and as far as gas saving It feels like it right now...my my fuel gauge is going down slower than before..lol! I am running 37's tires and also Detroit TT and it feels like I gained my low end back so far....:)

Mine has no problems pulling hard and fast from 80 mph to 110.....:)

You are suppose to loose cruise control anything higher than 3.36's because of something to do with the teeth etc, i just remember reading that somewhere....

Your rpms will rise as your lowering (raising numerically) your final ratio. That all really depends on how low you go...as far mpg goes, it shouldnt be too different. Maybe a 1-2mpg decrease (if that) as the engine wont work near as hard to turn those big 35s. I would personally go to 3.36+ if I was running anything larger than stock or towing anything over 5,000lbs. Since I dont, I couldnt/cant justify it. Not sure how it would affect top end as I dont race my truck, nor any previous trucks with which I did change the gears in. Sh*t, my old 94 chevy had a top speed of 80mph when I got done with her, but by god that thing would pull anything. I think you should go for it...

I have an 04' 4X4 and had my gears changed in December 2011.
2.93 to 4.10, I have 32" tires and tow around 6000lbs.
My MPG went from 14 to 12.
2k rpm a 60 mph.
Towing is awesome, I have not checked the mileage towing yet.
I still have cruise control.

I noticed a difference just going up to a 33" tire from stock. My rpms are about 150 rpm lower at any given cruising speed now. I think 3.36's would be just about perfect with 33's. People seem to overdue it when it comes to gears thus they go too low and the mpg and top speed suffer as a result.

I'm surprised you didn't feel a difference with the 35's. Maybe you had them on for so long that you forgot how it compared to stock? With 35's, I think 3.56's would be just about perfect in regards to mpg and top speed. 3.73's would be the lowest (highest numerically) I'd go.
