Need 4 tires for my Titan. They are regular stock 18 inch rims. I have had the Goodyear Wranglers and Michelin tires are on the truck now. My question is anyone have any preference on brand as far buying new tires. I live in Pa so i would need a tire good in snow but the truck is used everyday for work. Mileage was a little beter with the Michelin but not by a lot

I'll join this thread. 2004 KC SE 4x4 with original tires (truck only has 20,000 miles on it, that's a subject for another thread). Also in PA, for what that's worth.

The tires are not worn out but are showing some dry rot due to their age.

Although my Titan is 8 years old, it still has original everything except for brake rotors.

The truck sits around a lot – which is the reason for the low miles. A typical trip is to work and back, a 28 miles round trip (obviously I am not driving the Titan much of the time for commuting!)

The factory tires never were really good in snow, but are / were good for everything else. I’m looking for an aggressive tread that won’t drone noisily on the highway.

So, in order of importance:
1) Low Noise

2) Performance in snow - especially deep snow
(I don’t want winter tires – have them on my Audi and they are superb but I want something that I can leave on the truck year round)

3) Off road traction – I don’t spend much time doing that, but I do run off road from time to time, so I assume that if they are good in snow, they’ll be good in light duty off road

4) Wet road traction and handling

5) Dry road actually takes last place in my desires. I didn’t get the truck to go fast around corners.

I would love them to last a lot of miles but at the rate I am accumulating them, I'll probably be replacing them after a certain amount of years rather than miles.

I also see that the newer Pro4X models have 275/70-18 on what are (apparently) the same wheels, so I am assuming that this size is OK to go to.

If I had 18" rims and wanted to stay fairly close to stock, I'd get the 33.1" diameter LT295/65R18E Goodyear DuraTracs. They are supposedly excellent in the snow, and I liked their wet handling, except mine seemed to hydroplane easier than other tires I've run, but I never heard anyone else complain about that, so Idk. Wet handling and dry on curvy roads was outstanding, and they were very smooth, even though they look like they wouldn't be.

Another vote here for the duratrac's. I absolutely love mine. I've been offense a few times and man these things pull hard. I'm from Louisiana so I'll never drive them in the snow so I can't help you there.

Duratracs have all the Severe weather ratings so they are good for what you need. I have been on the middle of a full blown blizzard with mine and they were awesome. I love my DT's!

Michellin LTX's are good all around tires.

I know BFG has come out with the Rugged Terrain's (not the Rugged Trails that were OEM)

Right now, I am testing the Bridgestone Dueller AT's on my Wife's JKUS. Seem to be doing well so far.

I have been very happy with my Firestone Destination AT's, great in snow and wet roads, very little road noise, 50k warrantee. That being said, when these wear out I'm going with the Duratracs

I am partial to Michelin myself, I have the MS2's on my truck and they have the best wet/snow traction of any of the other tires I have ran. So I say go with the Michelin's again.

Logged on to the goodyear web site and they said the duratracs will not fit.
the 275/70/18 Duratracs will fit your truck. It is one size up from stock and a 33" tire.

I would recommend the following since lifetime of the tire probably won't matter:

1. Bridgestone Dueler At Revo's. Best wet weather AT tire there is. Also good in snow and offroad.
2. Goodyear Duratrac or Silent Armor. But both are pricey.
3. Firestone destination AT. A little "looser" feel than the duelers but still served me well in all climates.
