iPad in the dash

So, I thought it would be cool to put an iPad in my dash as my head unit. So far, it has worked out. I am still in the process of getting it secured in Metra double din faceplate. I have tried to think of any potential problems that could arise, but I can't think of any. The faceplate is currently sanded down since I had to cut a bunch out of it to be able to see the whole screen, so that is why it looks a little rougher...

this is an old post but hopefully someone can chime in for me. I am considering doing this to my T. From what I have been reading people have been using Verizon hotspot and just pandora or something similar on the Ipad to play music. I know that with the jetpack hotspot it just uses my current data. So I'm curious to know if i'm listening to music constantly on this thing roughly how much data will i be using?

Here was my ipad in dash in my last T. I had it tethered to my phone, and then just ran Pandora, even got to stream Netflix a couple times (for the passengers of course haha). But i have unlimited data on my phone, so i never worried about it.

I use only pandora. I can listen to the radio though, since all of that stuff is still tucked behind my Ipad. I use about 3 gigs a month and don't stream any videos. I wouldn't do the jetpack. While it does feed off your data plan, you still have to pay a monthly fee for the device, and its just one more thing you have to worry about charging. If I am far enough away from my truck, my mobile hotspot will disconnect, saving my phone battery. I have had this in since the original post and it still is working great.

Yes, I use Pandora a lot running through the AUX jack. Since the cig lighter on the passenger side only has power when the truck is on, I spliced a USB charger to that so the Ipad only charges when the truck is on. I can still use my steering wheel controls. The only downfall to that is I can't see my volume level, or the preset radio station (i never listen to the radio). XM is still functional, but I never bought the subscription. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Could you send me some pictures?? i want to do the same thing, except i would probably do an ipad mini, make it alot easier, and how did you attach the ipad to the dash kit? and did you just use the factory stereo and just put the ipad in front of that and use a aux cord connected to the stock aux cable to use the music?

thanks!
