Prg extended travel with SAWs or dirt king with ICONs

Next month I'm pulling the trigger on a coilover lift. I actually made a post on this but can't find it for some reason. I was really set on going with PRG and the SAW coilover, prg UCAs, rear Deaver c10 pack and rear radflos. The only other I was considering was Dirt King and their ICON coilovers and their UCAs and ICON rears with a 1.5 block lift.
Like I said, I was set on the PRG package but I have read so many negative post about the horrible service from this guy Greg that I am now reluctant to order $2500 worth of sh!t from them.
Should I just go with Dirt King and ICON?

I have owned both SAW and ICON on prior trucks and both were great..

I have never had bad customer service from Greg, he is an awesome guy. He has always given me awesome deals if you buy more than one item.

I'm in the same boat I want extended coilovers deciding either dk or prg.. Leaning more towards dk need to wait till next pay day though. Lemme know what you decide. I think either way ill be getting icon

Just an update for you on what I ordered... Got rear 1" block and sway bar end links from PRG. Got front icon extended coilovers from DK and rear Radflos from DK. PRG stuff got here in a little over two weeks and I just ordered from DK yesterday. I ordered metalworx UCAs which he quoted 2-3 weeks since he has to build em.
Should be a sweet setup I think. Now I just gotta burn up these stupid stock bfg's so I can get duratracs haha. Looking to have everything installed in a month from now if not sooner.

I bought my Radflos extended coils from PRG, the blue ones from his site with the blue king coils which cost $1100 and he gave me a deal for $900. I also got a brand new set of his PRG UCA which cost about $650 and he sold them to me for $275. That is why i rep PRG all the way. And just in case anybody says " well you might have the first version of his UCA's" no sir i have the new version with the gold bolts/ hardware. The last item i bought from him 7 months ago where his endlinks on a Thursday evening. He said they would be on my door step Monday morning. They where on my door step Saturday early morning.

ok, there are a few...and i mean few guys that have good luck with greg at PRG. just do a search and you will see that the last few years prg has stopped caring about the customer. Now Dirt King has never wronged anyone, been late on a shipment or had it all scratched up upon delivery. they are very easy to get a hold of and care about the customer even after the product has been shipped. Dirt King Fabrication is the way to go.

Wait, you like dirtking? I had no idea:soap::soap:

both are great packages. Both know titans like no one else. PRG can be lacking in the customer service dept. I love my PRG Uca's and my PRG SAWS until I sold them. DK has cooler stickers though.:hat:

Here is an idea. If you know that you wanted to order from PRG, call the number and talk to him. Tell him that your only concern with the purchase is the complaints of a lack of customer service and see what he says. Make your decision based on that conversation.

Personally, I have had good experiences with both PRG and DK. But as someone that has been around on these Titan boards forever, PRG was there for us Titan owners when no one else was and that has a value in itself.

#8 ·
But that same person that was there then now doesn't help us?? I guess I will talk to him about it when I buy next month and let him know what my worries are and see what he says. Knowing that ICON products are right there with no issues is hard to pass up though. He will really have to win on price to keep me from ICONs at this point. I don't have time for crappy service in my life. That's a must when selling products to public

seems like people wait forever when ordering Shocks from PRG.

I have done basically the same thing to my truck that you are wanting to do. Read my thread and make the decision. I really think either way you go, you are not going to be disappointed - they both have great products. Greg was the most knowledgeable as he really knew about the Titan - that speaks volumes. So he might be a little late on shipping and general logistics - I would give him a B - still tolerable in my books. The end state is how the truck performs and if it was the right information to build from - it was and still is.

I am sure going with Dirt King, you will get something at least as good. Either way, you will love the setup! Enjoy!

Personally, I don't know if you can go wrong with any of these guys. I've had several orders arrive really fast from PRG and I had a set that took forever. But I also haven't found anyone else to match his prices. Calling sounds like a great idea IMO, then you can get a feel of what you're getting into before taking a step.

Call PrG and ask him if he has them in stock. I got a set from him but I called first to ensure he had them in stock. The rear C10 and radlfos work great ,I beat them last Baja 1000 and performed like a champ. But make sure you get his extended (forgot the name of the part where the liftsprings conect too.)

Ooohraaa for hardcore desert racers....!
I got quoted 1099 for icon extended coils and ill probably get prg uca from performancelifts.com even said free shipping to Canada. Cheapest price I've seen icons anywhere..
Send it to Chas@tap and he'll match it or beat it...

Sounds good, I may do the same. Then some icon rears and deaver c10 leaf pack or 1.5 block

#20 ·
And who quoted the 1099 for extended Icons? was it perfomance lifts?

#22 ·
yeah performancelifts quoted me for that.

#23 ·
i think that on PRG it says saw extended lift 4" and give 2" more travel
while icons lift 3" with 1" travel as i understand it.
im currently deciding between both.. same price so the saw do look more appealing..

Measuring suspension quality by travel is like measuring LED light bars by lumens. Big numbers that dont really translate to working well in real life.
Extremely well said..

well I have owned SAW and ICON and both are awesome. SAWs are a little stiffer and might do a hair better off road but the ICONs felt at home on and off road. I think it said 4" on SAWs for titans made before 2008. After 2008 it gives 3 inch lift. Maybe the travel will be the same from 2' inches on early titans and only 1" extended travel on late models.
Man this is a tough choice. I have bought my BDGT and Airaid from TAP and the service was good.
I was thinking of using another dealer for the suspension though because TAP does not sell everything I need and I would be piecing it out. I may end up doing that anyway though. Also being able to talk to a shop like dirt kings, perfomancelifts or PRG and discussing what you want your suspension to do and having them being able to customize your package and make you a "deal" for everything is awesome. I need extended travel coilovers, UCA's, rear leafs or blocks, rear shocks and sway bar end links... not just coilovers.
I've got a few weeks before I place the order so I'll keep sleeping on it for a few night. THanks for everyones input. As usual, TAP tries to help and everyone is giving great opinions and advice

I appreciate it! Thats what the forums are for. My best advice would be the following items:

Coilovers - ICON ext
Rear Shocks - ICON 2.5"
UCA - DK, MetalWorx, ICON, TC, PRG etc
Rear Leaf - Deaver C10 3pack
Block / Shackle from Maxtrac if you need more lift
End Links - CST Performance Heimed or take the bar off completely.

I've had both and have to agree that the SAWs ride a bit stiffer than DR/Icons.

I'm looking at getting either or but I want the one I can get most lift and h e decent ride with still I want 3" and I read that the icons do 2.5" max on 2008+ 4wd.. I wanted 4" but I'm fine with 3" can anyone verify that the icons will only do 2.5" or is 3" possible on a 2012 4wd

If you look at the SAWs on PRG website then he says up to 4" but only recommends 3", so on the 2008+ that MIGHT mean up to 3" but only recommending 2".. something to look into anyway.

Im actually thinking about just getting the ICON extended travel and putting them on right out of the box at 2", or maybe just add a half inch. Then the deaver c10 leafs. I'm hoping those leafs wont lift my 2013 titan more then 1.5" though or I'll just do a 1" block.

I'm sure you can do 3 on the SAWs but they perform better at 2, thats all.
Yeah, maybe just a 1' block for me too. Don't really need the deaver springs I suppose and with a icon or radflo rear shock that would be good to go.

And just to add this comment on icon rear shocks, on my 2010 tundra I had icon rear piggybacks and they were overkill big time. The basic 2.0 icon rears should be plenty and ride better...unless you plan on jumping you truck

The 2.5 Icons are the best on the market for a OEM replacement rear shock but as you said it is a little too much shock for the average person. We had a few customers run them in combination with our Deaver full leaf packs and they have worked great. The trucks they were ran on were used quite often offroad so these were perfect for them.

I was using the icon leaf spring pack with the piggyback icon rear shocks. Was really stiff.

The CDC or compression damping control is often found on coil overs. Icon and Radflo both offer them for their OEM shocks. They are also called compression adjusters. These adjusters allow you to change the compression of your shocks (how stiff or soft the ride is) by simply turning a knob. This is extremely convenient since you can dial in your ride without having to pull apart your shocks and have them revalved.

We have ran a few of our +3" long travel kits with the King Internal Bypass Coil overs with the compression adjuster option and the customers have really liked them. Here is picture for reference of one of one of our kits with the King IBPs with the compression adjuster (the red knob).
