Well, i got the bad new's yesterday...

My DL is being suspended for 1yr! Seem's i've been a little naughty since i got my Titan. I've managed to rack up a few point's within the last 3 yrs. :teethmast

So, as of May23rd. i can't drive my baby for 12 whole month's! I think i might cry! :crying:

I'm gong to be sticking around here though...i can't go more than 2 day' w/o logging on to TT. LOL

I guess the shock of not being able to drive hasn't hit me yet, but i'm trying to think of the positive aspect's.

- i'll be rding my MTB a LOT more!
- i'll be saving $ on gas ($20/day average)
- i'll be saving $ from paying my Insurance every month (a lot of $)
- My ridiculous Insurance premium will go down within a year

I have a couple question's for you guy's about putting my T in storage.

Any tip's?
What's the best way to store a vehicle for a year's time?

What the hell did you do to get it taken away? Can it be parked and driven every other week by someone else?

I was in 2 accident's, both times i was deemed "at fault" a couple of careless driving's, a few speeding ticket's, improper lane change ( that 1 is just retarded, thank you Largo PD!) ...i have to read the paper again.

The end result is i got 36 point's in 24 month's... NO MORE DRIVING FOR ME!!! :(

I want to keep it somewhere, where i can start it when ever needed & pull it out & drive around on the property for a few minutes if need be.

Any tip's for storage? I know your supposed to start it up every once in a while, but how often? & does it need to be driven far?

There should be a warning label on the Titan when you buy it, it should say, "This truck is very fun to drive & you will get many ticket's for stupid ****!"

Well, it's my fault i guess, that every cop in a 2 mile radius because can hear me coming! :teethmast

Well sounds to me you deserved it. Hope you learned your lesson. Safer roads without guys like you on them.
Sorry not trying to be a ****, just calling it like I see it.

Whatever dude... I am a man, i take responsibility for my action's!

There are far worse driver's than me out there trust me. I am a pretty safe driver actually, i never drive fast in traffic. Every speeding ticket i got, i was the only 1 on the road at the time. Cop's creep around here, i should know better, but **** happen's. I just alway's seem to be the 1 that get's caught at the wrong place, at the wrong time...

Before my father died he restored antique cars as a hobby. There were always a few vehicles in short term or long term storage. For long term the vehicle was placed on jack stands, cylinders fogged etc. Your situation is more like what he did for short term.

Here's what he did and had a lot of success. Park the car where it is protected from the elements and more importantly critters (bird $hit, squirrels, rats, mice, etc). Wash and wax it before you park it and wash it every 6 weeks to two months. Hook a trickle charger to the battery and over inflate the tires about 10 psi. Crank it every two to three weeks and let it run until the engine has come to operating temp for at least ten minutes to get rid of condensation in the engine. Drive it at least 5 miles to get rid of flat spots on the tires, get the transmission up to operating temp, brakes cycling, etc. Check the fluid levels every time you crank it. It should be fine in a year. I hope this helps.

Sound's like some good advice, thank's Quartz!

I have a place in mind all ready. It will be out of the element's & i'm thinking of buying a cover for it too. I would be able to go start it up & drive it around just on the property, so that should work out good.

I had to store my old Explorer for a long period of time before & i remember the battery going dead, but i was in jail so i couldn't start it. This time i will be able to maintain it myself & not have to rely on other people to do it for me. My Explorer was spotted being driven around town while i was behind bar's...& was full of sand from my brother taking it surfing with his friend's. BUSTED! & my JL 12"s got dry rotted from sitting in a hot storage unit.

That sucks. You can store it at my house (I'm only a couple hours away). I'll be more than happy to send you pics........I mean let you drive it around. There are a lot of back roads near my house :D

For my father one of the biggest problems was critters. Birds will bomb your truck even if there isn't a tree anywhere near it. Critters chewed on brake lines and made nests in trunks and under the hoods. You can get a cheap solar powered trickle charger like this and you won't have to run an extension cord out to the T or leave a charger plugged in that might short out in the rain. 1.5 Watt Solar Battery Charger

LOL

It will definitely have a lot more mod's done to it by the time i can drive it again, that's for sure! :)

I kind of saw this coming & it couldn't have happened at a better time actually. I just got myself into my own place again, i have a really nice MTB i can ride where ever i need to go & my girlfriend has a car.

It really suck's that it takes so long for point's to fall off your license!!! Most of the point's i have are from the 1st year i got my T. When it was still new to me & in test phase. :teethmast LOL

Another thing you can do is detail the **** out of it and give gary a run for his money for the cleanest T at OT.

Yea, i may have a chance if it won't be getting dirty sitting under a cover! LOL

I won't have to worry about critter's or bird's, so i have that going for me. :)

I don't know what kind of cover you are referring but DO NOT put a cover that contacts the paint on your truck. Especially plastic tarps.

I want to hit up the 1/8 mile track before she go's! I've got 2 week's to say my good bye's...though she won't be gong far!

Treat the fuel...with something like "Stabil"

It's not like it will all go to hell if you don;t...but you're better safe than sorry.

Also: Top off the tank...it will help keep condensation from diluting the fuel.

This is what they do everytime we deploy for 12-15 months at a time. They also unhook the battery cables. Your truck will be fine chilling for about 3 months before you have to pull her out and drive around the block a few times to get all the fluids moving and to keep the tires from getting flat spots. And as long as she is inside a building or something that keeps out the elements and critters there's no need for a cover.
Sorry about the DL man but at the same time like you said it'll save you some money, plus have more time for mods, LOL.
Hope this helps.

That's something else i was wondering. Should i treat the fuel. Should i leave just a little bit of fuel in it or fill it up? IDK this stuff...

IDK, i'm not an expert. LOL A car cover... It's going to be inside a building, i might not even need a cover. Just thought it would keep dust & crap off the paint.

#24 ·
A cloth cover inside a building is ideal.

damn brutha that sucks!

I'm sure it sucks to get your license taken away. But I have no sympathy for repeat offenders.
As you've already mentioned... If you have nothing positive to add to my thread, then go somewhere else.

As i already stated i take full responsibilities for my own action's! No one's perfect, like you...

In no way am I saying im perfect.
I applaud you for taking responsibility for your actions, some people don't. I wasnt trying to give you anymore ****. I was responding to the other comments. Im sure you have beat yourself up enough about it.

Add a fuel saver to your gas tank. Try not to store it with a full tank of gas. The more gas the more gunk that goes to the bottom of the tank.

I know the feeling well almost.. I lived in Jville for most my life and I had a Firebird and a 5.0 back in the day and used to as we say have a heavy foot uhmm. So yeah the cops do like to spot check a few things there.. Wish you the best on the yr long deal.
I sure know what you mean when you say it happened when you first got your T. I am going thru the same thing now. Keeping it down does get kinda hard to do.

Ok, thank you.

My Titan is my prized possession! Trust me i beat myself up pretty good!

...but my new year's resolution was, "Not to beat myself up about thing's that i have no control over." It's a hard habit to change, i had to re-train my brain!!! My life has been a LOT less stressful since though... :)
