Did you check the Carfax to see if it has been crashed?

 

Looks like the previous owner changed some parts.

The grille you have is an 04-07 grille. Maybe the PO didnt like chrome and changed the grille to a black one he bought off an older model.

The lower bumper is also the older model. In 08, the fog holes had a square shape to them on the inside (bu the center grille). Yours have a full circle like those from the 04-7 year.

and the lack of side molding makes me think it is an XE.....

 

We did before we bought it. Clean. Only slight damage is the right side of the bumper is bent in a little towards the front of the truck. like 1/4"

 

Sounds like it got rearended at some point. Probably bad enough to replace the tailgate with a tailgate off an SE. Simple fix really. Just pull the "S" & "E" off.

 

Call a Nissan dealer with your VIN they will tell you.

Very tasteless placement of emblems....

It's an XE, no step bars, basic mirrors, and basic bumper. I have an XE and can spot them. The mexican that owned it before you put the emblems on incorrectly.

 

yes its an XE and you were ripped off if you bought it as a SE

 

No cruise control.. Definitely a no frills XE. On a good note, less things to break electronically.

It's a 2008. IIRC, it was also manufactured in early 2008, according to the sticker

Well the battery in my old bone-stock 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac kept draining. Put in a new one, and it drained that one within 2 weeks. After being stranded twice in two weeks, my parents and I were done. My dad and I convinced the dealership to give us almost twice their original offer, making a trade-in value of $10,000. We got the T for $21,000 with 38k miles. Came with almost $2000 worth of rims and brand new Trail Grapplers, as well as the plastic bedliner and frickin dark tint. I think your theory is the most plausible.
He may have been in a fender bender that damaged the bumper and grill.
As I started disassembling the front end to paint the emblem and put in HIDs, I found that one of the headlights like this.

Made the dealership replace it for free.

 

Hell, my tailgate was damaged before driving it off the lot. They replaced it and when we picked it up, it the emblems then said we had an 'LE.' I was like, nope, take that **** off.

Does your gauge cluster look like this? The dash center stack confuses me because it looks like the 04-07 style but apparently I found a photo with an 08 with hat style.

Haha yeah.
Chrome is not my cup of tea, so the color matched bumper was one of the main things I was looking for on the T. the $2000ish worth of rims and brand new BA tires was the icing.

It's probably an XE with the popular package. I've got a buddy with a CC 2008 XE with the popular package and it has the sliding rear glass.

 

As so many have confirmed, it's an XE. For me, the lack of body side moldings being the big clue. There are holes in the metal under that trim on those trucks that came with it. I've seen a few early '08s that were mutts. Seems they continued to empty the parts bins of the older pieces, so bumpers, grills, wheels and the like could be the older style on an '08. My neighbor behind me had an early '08 that had the new front grill, old front bumper and old wheels but the new gauge cluster. Odd ducks, for sure.

 

My truck was built in January of '08. wouldn't that classify it as a later '08?

 

I believe you have an xe as well but on a good note your truck looks really good. Regardless of the trim package it is a hell of a nice truck. I really like that look. I am also not one that compliments many other titans but your is worth the compliment.

 

Can't remember if anyone stated or saw this, but you have an 04-07 grille. Unless i'm mistaken and all the 2008+ XE models use that grill.

 

Yes this is a XE, with all the wrong parts, I have a 2008 build in 2007 and have the right parts. The fog light slots on your rig are from years 2004-2007, you have no moldings on the doors, wrong grill for a 2008+ year, no tow hooks either, non chrome rear bumper, that one is not dealer color match. And yoy need to have pre wire fog light cables. Your interior is no where close to a reg SE, I would take it back and demand my money back, if not file a law suit for wrong info.

Lol yeah I know it is. Just felt a little nostalgic about this thread. Loll I've had it 3 years and I love it too much and put a lot of time and money into it to take it back.

If it makes you feel any better I have a franken-truck as well. 2008 XE with an 04-07 bumper. I do have cruise control and its a "loaded" XE. Dealer listed it as an SE, but had no SE badges.

Nah that makes me feel worse. Where's MY cruise control?
