Wiper Blade Brand Preference

Getting off the premium gas discussions, I am looking for a decent wiper blade that does not stiffen up in cold weather, but has a thin edge for less drag and performance. Personally, I have always been happy with the Bosch Micro Edge wipers, but wondering what other people's preferences are, and why they prefer them over others?

Ive always just kept to the cheap ones...rainX or whatever like walmart had...well for the titan around here they didnt have any that fit the Titan so the next place to look were the autoparts stores...only one autopart store had em when I was looking to buy and they were expensive I paid like 40 bucks for the pair...wasnt used to that... ANYWAY they were the innovisions

I like em, theyre great and work awesome...they have to be the best blades Ive had (I didnt even know u could get good or bad blades till I tried these) Theyre cheaper now so u wont be paying 40 bucks but theyre great and look better than OEM and other replacements also...

Silblade makes an excellent wiper blade. They come with a 5 year guarantee. You can get them for about $12 each on amazon. They run $16-$20 each elsewhere.

Bosch Micro-edge. They only last about 6-12 months, but they're soft compound is amazing at wiping away water without streaks. I'm sure the PIAAs are just as good if not better, but since you have to replace them every year I'm happier paying the $20 a year for the Boschs.

I like to use cheap blades and just change em every 6 months or so. I'm also a fan of rain-x.

Being in seattle...we really get to put our wipers to work.

I don't remember what brand I put on my last Dodge but the were teflon coated and held up really well. I havn't had to replace the Titan blades yet.

Stock Titan Blades suck!...

I want to change them...but I'm tired of spending on the truck...maybe after this summer.

I just changed out my OE blades last night, that's over 2 years with them. For the amount of time I had them on there, they did fairly well. They started to chatter and streak, so I finally got around to changing them. I replaced them with the Bosch, which I've had good experiences with on my past vehicles.

We used to sell and install a lot of Anco blades. We preferred them over Trico because they're inexpensive, they last, and they don't tend to go to pieces when they fail.

We had a reputation to uphold, and we wanted no returns.

I can't tell you about the more expensive blades, but I live in the "Pacific NorthWET" and replace blades at about a year-and-a-half interval. Ancos have always worked well for me. Not as purty as some of those others, but functional.

Hope this helps.

Noone heres used the innovisons I mentioned? hmmm...I guess they are fairly new to the market (...what I hear)

I agree with adavis, my stock blades didnt even last me the year...the passeneger side started tearing at the tips and then the drivers started going...I dont care to much though cuz u gotta replace these things ever so often anyway...I like the ones I got now though...

I drag a piece of wet 600 grit sandpaper down my wiperblades about twice a year.....eliminates having to replace them for longer than you'd think. I too am a fan of Rain-X....it's the cats meow.

I'm still on OE's on the Titan (only 5k miles since oct. '05), but I have tried Anco, Trico, Bosch, and Rainex. All good. My experience is to keep 'em fresh is the kindest thing to do for your windshield. Especially on the lovely Mrs.rico387's car, which we want to last since I got the Titan.

Rain-X is tah win!!!1!!1! Stuff is amazing (after it is first applied anyway). I find myself laughing at people parked beside me with their wipers on full blast, and I am sitting pretty on the slowest setting the intermitant(sp?) wipers allow. That said, it has rained 2 times since I bought the Titan back in early December, and both times the stock blades in combo with the Rain-X worked just fine. If I am travelling at highway speed with no one in front of me, I do not use the wipers. Around town though the OEMs did fine.

Earlier this week I bought some Bosch Micro Edge's for my wife's car. Next time it rains I will have to see how they do.

Other sites I belong to have spoken hihgly of the Bosch ICONs...words like amazing, never seen anything this good, best ever.....I want to try them out but I am just too busy at work to get out and get them. It has been raining for 25 days straight...you would think I could get out get them...naw..to lazy/busy I guess.

^^YUP got em and that pretty well sums it up! If you want to make it even better, fill your washer fluid with RainX brand washer fluid.

I use anything with the word "Premium" in the name. Just like gas. Did I mention that I get better performance and gas mileage with the "Premium" blades? :jester:

i've read that using rain x on your windshield promotes the rubber in windshield wipers to break down faster.... any one experience this?????

I have TripleEdge and I wipe once for every 4-5 times the person next to me that doesn't have TripleEdge. There's a silicon coating that settles in on your windshield and the rain beads.Put it to the test.Just buy one and put it on one side and see the difference in less than 10 minutes. And these are from Wal*Mart.

I use the rainx windshield washer and that works well. After my stock wipers kept getting frozen during the winter I tried the innovisions from trico and they work great. Granted I never turn them on unless I'm traveling to slow for the rainx but when I need them they work great. They never ice up and are low profile.

Maybe, I don't know. However, I ahve noticed that here in Texas, if I do not use them during the summer (which is most summers), then by the end of the summer the rubber seems to be dry rotted. I normally end up changing blades about every 6-10 months. Every spring when we get some rain I will change them, and then by the time fall and winter rolls around it is time for new ones.

However, I really do not like streaks on the windshield while I am driving. So if I wipe down the blades, and they still streak, I get new ones. I have no need to try and get the wipers to last the life of the truck. Just replacing the rubber is pretty cheap, and buying the Bosch's is only 15 dollars, so I do not mind buying new ones twice a year.

i haven't had to replace the titan blades yet. but on my civic i have carbon fiber blades by PIAA... they are amazing... but not worth the extra money just to have a name... just go with whatever on wiper blades. you are going to have to replace them quite a few times anyways
