Just wondering how your all experiences have been on the pro comp xtreme at tires. I'm in the market for some 35" and I'm really leaning towards this tire. I like my toyos but they really sukk in the sand and that's where I play most of the time not really in mud.

DANG! I just got some this morning. Went from Toyo M/T 35" to the Xtreme A/T in 325 65 18. Love em so far. But they haven't left the pavement yet. I'll post up pics tomorrow pending rain.

I like them. They preform well.
I will tell you that I plan on going back to Toyos, if not,
then Nittos in the near future solely for looks.

Btw I think Toyo M/T are one of the best, if not the best, in the sand

The toyo is a sweet tire but I've had other all terrains in the past and they seem to float over the sands here where I live but when I got my toyos it was mandatory that I had to air down in order to get decent traction if not the lugs will just dig and dig.

I'm running those very same tires, but haven't had a chance to hit some sand....but being a 2wd I have the same concerns.

I need a tire that will float and not dig...I run my rears at only about 27 psi on the street because the tires sidewall is pretty stiff...not the best for sand...I would proberly drop the rears down to about 20-22 for desert work.

One of these days I'll have to let them down to 15-12 psi to see how the bulge for sand work..

My last tires were Nitto Terra Grapplers and although I never ran them in pure sand, they did great down several desert sand washs...

BTW..I got such a killer deal on the Pro-Comps I couldn't pass it up!

Man, I got to say that these tires kick a$$. I had the BFG A/Ts before these and I would choose the PCs over them any day. I took them in the sand down in AZ last summer and they were awesome. I aired the rears down to 18 through the wash and they pulled like mother f'rs. Not to mention that they last forever! Mine have been on for almost 35k and they are not even 50% worn yet. I'll prob keep them for another 20k. Then I'll buy another set!

I have them in a 35/12.5/18 and hate them. They are just as heavy and louder than my Toyo MT's. They dont balance near as good as my Toyo's either. They do pretty decent in sand though. I had them aired down to 15 psi last weekend at the Parker 425 and never needed 4wd all weekend.

#11 ·
I had them in the same size and I hated them as well. Very loud and very heavy. I'll never buy procomp tires again. Oh well, good luck tho!

cheif, you trying to fit 35's on your setup with the Body Lift, Leveling kit, and 20X10's? I am in need of new rubbers too and want to squeeze 35's under mine. I am running the same setup pretty much. I dont want to settle with 33's if I dont have to. Will 35's fit?

#13 ·
Actually the 35s will fit fine cause I'm putting the stock wheels back on I just need to get them powdercoated first so with factory offset and backspacing I'll have no problem. Are the pro comps really that heavy currently my toyos are sitting at about 75 lbs each Which if it's like a 1-2 lb difference then I don't care but if it's like 10lbs heavier then that a different story

My friend has Procomps on her Titan, and I personally don't like the way they look. She also gets stuck in snow and mud more often than I do with my BFG ATs (could have something to do with driving style though lol). Her Procomp ATs probably are equally as worn as my BFG ATs with the same mileage (About 50% worn at 30k miles)...so they do last for a long time. Not really much sand around here, so I can't really comment on that. But I ran Toyo MTs on my previous truck and loved them in every way. I will probably go back to Toyos for my next set.

That's funny because I think my PCs handle much better in the snow than my BFGs. Interesting...................... it must be that Canadian snow.

Chief, checkout some Terra Grapplers. For the couple times i had them on sand, they seemed to do well. I've been told alot of balance horror stories about the ProComp A/T. Guys around here will tell you something along the lines of "yea they last a long time, but you don't want them for a long time because they ride like crap after 50% tread is gone and good luck finding someone who can balance them after they're worn enough".

#22 ·
If you're in the sand a lot, I heard the Dune Grapplers were unbelievable in it. I haven't had any firsthand experience with them, but someone I know runs them on the beach and said they're better than the Terra Grapplers for sandy traction.

I guess I'll share my tire experiences and personal opinions... and I drive aggressively on and off road...50/50 on/off road.

1st set of tires : BFG A/T's... they are great for on road (very low road noise), decent for light off road use, not too well on sand, worse in mud, decent on rocks... they wore out within 12.5k miles

2nd set: PC Extreme A/T's... they did good on road, better performance off road, good in sand, decent in mud, better on rocks, overall running was good... didn't like that they wore out around 13k as well

3rd set: Nitto Terra Grapplers... they did good on road (noticeable road noise though), good off road performance, very good on sand, good in mud, very good on rocks... these actually lasted over 32k

4th set (current): PC Extreme M/T's... they do good on road (but loud road noise), great off road performance, good in sand, better in mud, and awesome on the rocks... they are pushing 10k and still have a lot of life...

all in all, Nitto's were the best overall IMO, but I enjoy the PC Extreme M/T's handling on the rocks, just gotta deal with the road noise...

I dont know how you only got 12,500 miles out of the BFG's or 13,000 out of Pro Comp Extreme AT's. My Dad got had 45,000 on his first set of BFG AT's on HD Chevy. My Pro Comp Extreme AT's have almost 40,000 on them now and should easily make another 5,000.

#26 ·
Yeah that's super low mileage, especially for the bfg a/t. The bfg's are old technology and crap to todays standards but the one thing they ARE known for is very long tread life.

#28 ·
I only got 25k miles out the BFG T/A KO on a Durango I had. Very disappointing IMHO. Dunlop Mud Rovers lasted longer than those BFG did on that SUV. Granted they did do well in the sand and rode nice onroad, but that was about all they were good for.

#27 ·
Well, I don't know how my first two sets got eaten up so fast either, I just wasn't happy either time... The BFG's came with my Titan when I bought it already lifted with wheel/tire combo so when they got worn out so fast, I was shocked too. The PC's I bought from 4Wparts, and when they got worn out so fast, 4Wparts actually gave me 50% twds the cost of new tires, through their local shop of course... those were just my own experiences, so I may have gotten a bad batch of tires, who knows...

Holy crap scottsbro they look awesome and WIDE!!! That's the same size tire I'm getting except in a cooper stt. Also I love your tailgate bib, is that camo I see? How did you do that??

#33 ·
Thnx....yep Digi woodland camo. I just removed the tailgate, taped the bib off and airbrushed it. (I made 2 Digi Camo stencils for some engine covers I did last year.)

chief, these are great tires. i had a set of 38.5's and i went everywhere with those that i have with my boggers! had to use a little more throttle in the mud with them then i do with the boggers but thats expected. i want those tires again, but they dont make them in that size anymore. if i dont lift my truck anymore then i will be running 38.5 x-terrain. these guys whine about the noise, they have no idea. the x at's are super super quite. if they want noise, then run boggers and listen away. also they come with like a 45k or 50k warranty. i love them and i think you will extremely satisfied.

#36 ·
Lol thx brotha I have had mine for about a couple days now and I absolutly love them. Alot of peeps said they were heavy and louder then the toyos mts but they are in fact much queieter and smoother on the road then my toyos oh and lighter as well. I just hope they last as long as people say they do

...Another reason NOT to run boggers...
Mine do make a lot of freeway noise, louder then anything else from the truck....Why would I like that useless noise?...:)
