First off, calm down and quit YELLING....

You can take the truck to any rear end shop, the axle shaft bearings & seals are available...

Ditto on the YELLING!

Are you wanting to do this yourself? That would be the cheapest. If so, let us know and maybe we can offer some suggestions.

Ditto on the YELLING!² Most effective way is to replace them. Cheapest way is do it yourself. It's not that hard. It just takes time and tools. If BlackBeauty's seals leaked there would be a detailed set of instructions on TT with pictures, charts, and graphs. The instructions would tell you what tools and parts you needed. Hell he'd probably even have a chart where you could look up the temp and humidity to figure out how many beers it would take. Honestly if BB's truck was a little more unreliable we'd all be better off.

This .pdf should be a sticky.

I think a master modd has to do it.

The best thing to do if you can is to use a driveline shop in your area. Getting the axle out is easy then take it to a shop and have them do the bearing work. Can probably have it done for under $200 both axles. It's not hard when you have the tools but as often I use a press I don't have need for it.

Do you think they'd mind if I drove my truck to their lot, then removed the axle myself? The only way I can transport the axle is in said truck! :D

Sure why not. The driveline shop I use here in Orlando has a pick up and delivery service.

Or you can do one axle at a time and put training wheels on the side missing the shaft:teethmast

So sad...you have NO friends or family what so ever....:crying:

Most shops I know of would rather you NOT tear down your truck in their driveway...We're not talking about changing a battery at Pep Boys...

Great thread guys. I just bought seals/bearings for my left side this morning. I bought 1 extra seal, just in case i really mess up. I've done hundreds of very small seals on other machinery, just not any on a truck axle before.

If only BB had a seal leak, we'd have it made. That was Funny Quartz. LOL. :)

Questions/Opinions: One Nissan employee guy commented that he thought the failures were because the Boss was machined poorly, and leaks on the outer edge.. is this where your failures were?

Should we do anything to make sure the seal last longer, like any RTV Gasket Maker on the outside edge of the Seal itself or the plate as it is slid into the axle housing?

OK, if I was to buy a press instead of paying somebody to do this, what size (dimension and power) do I need to perform this job? Looks like a typical small free standing press with a 12 Ton jack would do. I may want a 20 Ton if available for a bit more... got to be less than paying a shop to do this.

I am in need to do this soon. I'm going to the Raleigh meet in 2 weeks, and there are 2 Northern Tools and 1 Harbor Freight Stores nearby. We arrive Thursday, hint, hint... thank you bestatchess. :)

This looks interesting! Arcan Hydraulic Shop Press — 20-Ton, Model# SPB20 $399.99

Big Red Torin for a bit less, at $319. My Favorite so far...

And another option - harbor freight 20 Ton for $219.00, no match for the Big Red Torin it seems. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=32879

And just one more..http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=33497 but i really favor a 20 Ton for just 60 bucks more.

buddy of mine has the harbor freight press, it is OK. I Will probably use it when I do my left side seal if I don't use the drive line shop near me.

Anyone in Central Florida needs the name of this place PM me. I don't want to be in time out for advertiseing.
