Posted this also in the PRT b-pipe thread but might get better visibility here for some of you guys.
I brought this up to him a few weeks ago when folks were asking about this, 2.5" into 3" Y-pipe to the muffler. He just called me a few minutes ago and mentioned this to me again. What exactly are you guys looking for, what material, he said the Y-pipe he can custom make vs. buying one off the shelf. Will talk to him more about that later, but for shipping purposes, it appears the drivers side pipe will have to be two piece, where it would meet up with the passenger side prior to the Y, almost has to be to be able to ship it, now that can be done I guess with a band clamp, or a slip fit pipe with two clamps. He doesn't have the pipe expander to do 2.5", his custom work just doesn't use it.
Flanges would probably be 1/2" mild steel zinc plated, with 304 Stainless pipe, he doesn't want to do 409, but he was willing to do aluminized mild steel if you guys want that. Still not going to be cheap, figure you have about approx 8 ft of pipe there to consider. What kind of deal you want after the y-pipe section, just a link of pipe there, or empty at the exit of the Y?
Remember, after looking at the pics I should mention, this setup would be from a b-pipe normal placement flange.
How far back do you guys want the Y-pipe? Up close up front just after the join or closer to the muffler? Just gauging interest from you guys since there were a few that were interested.
I was considering the x-pipe myself but it is a little easier to find a muffler with 3" in and either 3" out or dual 2.5" out for my tastes. I am including pics of Millenko's Y and setup just so there is a visual for guys, let me know what you think, and he is figuring up what it will run. Pipe material will be a big cost factor, and myself, it will always be 304 SS for me. Would you guys rather have a off the shelf Y or a merge style also as I have seen in here also. Let me know your ideas, it seems he is open to it now, so let me know what you think in the thread and I will present your ideas to him and see what he says cost wise what it will run. Remember, labor equals cost also, and speaking with him this will be setup to run to a muffler in the stock location. Let me know guys.
Remember, these will be mandrel bend tubes, so sarcastically saying, it might not hit 13 secs, but more likely you would have a greater chance of it.
Remember folks, you can have two pipes on each end 10 feet in diameter, but if the center section is 2.25" it is still a 2.25 " pipe. Mandrel is the way to go.
