It doesn't look just like the XD, the front clip is much shorter also has more slope to the hood. It has a more proportionate look and makes the entire truck look a ton better. Nissan is going for a more mainstream look obviously being different didn't lead to high sales.

I was hoping the badge was exclusive only to the diesel.

 

That swoop on the fender should have never continued on through the door panel. It should have stopped at the door.

The mirrors on the front doors should have never swooped down in the corners. The bottom of the windows and hood should more or less be in line.

And yes...that ugly badge... Rip it off.

 

They had to do the swoop down on the doors because they raised the belt line to match the higher hood but they could not change the position on the mirrors since the basic cab architecture is carried over from the current Titan.

Not liking it at all. I've owned my 2005 since it was brand new. Right now I'm looking at replacement in 2-3 years. So, probably 2018/19. I'm hoping they have this thing looking better by then, but I doubt it. Same gripes as everyone else:

1) Fender badges - HIDEOUS
2) Lines - The armada pictured above looks so much better. Very much dislike the "Ford" style swooping windows.
3) Why didn't they just make the body look like the Warrior? Hello? McFly?!?!

Anyway... pretty saddened by their choices/direction. Not sure where they get their market research data from, but it sure seems like no one likes the looks of this thing.

 

Compared to these pictures my 2005 Titan is simply lovely. Nissan is doing NOTHING to entice me to buy a new truck. After seeing the HD and driving one for a bit - Not thrilled. And for over 50K for a work truck - I SHOULD BE THRILLED - Hey for that money I should be made to feel very happy about every aspect of a new truck. Sorry to say that if this is all they have to offer - I may just pull the trigger and buy a 2016 Tundra. I am now sick and Tired of waiting on Nissan. Just my thoughts.

 

I don't think the 2nd gen truck is for the 500k or so current first Generation Titan owners. It's for the million or so they missed in the first run of the Titan. Making it look like a Ford front end and front doors is probably their plan since Ford sold more pickup trucks in 2015 than Nissan has done from 2003-2015 combined. Just an observation...
I'll keep mine as long as it runs or until the Warrior concept is produced.

 

I do like it better than the long nose, but it looks belly scraper to me, that front wheel well is even more wraparound and limiting than the first gen and that drop front air dam, were i to buy one, would be lucky to make it off the lot with me. To me it still looks very ford, which is hideous to start with, and copycatting just makes everyone frown. Then they go and add the GM trucks' total lack of frame clearance. I'm not into ridiculously lifted trucks, but i am into offroading in something you don't have to tow to the trail, and that looks like a nightmare on any real obstacle.

 

Looks like a F150 and a Ram got together, make hot monkey love and out comes the Titan.

I guess I just don't like "American truck" outsized front ends (well, I do like the latest F-150 design, but I don't like that Ford uses a ton of chinese parts in their vehicles). I am really digging the looks of the new Ridgeline:

Too bad it's not a real truck. If ever we can get by with a lighter truck like the Ridgeline, I'd certainly consider it. Right now we still love our 2007 Titan, definitely not letting go of it anytime soon!

Oh and the new Armada is awesome, minus the fender badge/vents.

 

It looks more like the Titan I know compared to the XD. Real sharp imo.

 

From all the hate from the faithful, I think Nissan finally has a hit and may actually sell some trucks! What are you counter culture folks going to drive in the future?

 

If they don't make a Warrior or something similar most likely a Tundra. That's 2-3 years off though, I want to get my wife's new car paid off.

This truck will sell just like the first gen. Not gonna get anywhere if you don't market it.

I'm liking the new half ton. It's more proportionate, the frame isn't visible from the side like on the XD. Although the 2wd sits a little lower than I'd like, nothing a leveling kit can't fix.

Sat in an S model of the Titan half ton today, really like it. Rubber floors, yet still had power windows locks and push button start. Was column shift though. Ugly steel 17" wheels carried over from previous Titan however, now instead of the cheaper General tires, this one had Toyo open country's.
at idle you can hear the 5.6's direct injection a little louder than the older 5.6 but hoping for improved fuel economy. Interested to see what exactly pricing will be on these.

 

That configuration looks better then either the XD or the regular cab. It's still got some styling miscues, but it looks better than the other two we've seen.

 

When someone crashes their 2017 please PM me so I can drop the engine and tranny in my 2011.....

So the consensus I'm getting on here is the new XD/Regular Titan styling is very polarizing-either folks like it or they can't stand it. But everybody would go buy the Warrior, yes?

 

Majority hate the looks...On this site, facebook, car enthusiast sites. Nissan thought Titan sales were bad now, they are only going to get worse.

 

They said the chassis does not share one bolt with the XD. So you think they developed an all new chassis for the XD and one for the half ton??? Nope they repurposed the NV chassis for the XD and the original titan chassis for the half ton. Look at the rear of the cab. The hood goes up higher instead of the black cowl on our old ones. This is a new body on the old titan. I have been saying this since the changed the door panels on the 2015 a year before the new XD was available. It is the old titan with new powertrain. Personally I hope this is the case, but this pretty much confirms it. That will enable them to sell them much cheaper than if they completely redesigned the frame and chassis.

Who wants to bet?

Good. Should mean the new 5.6 and 7AT will physically bolt into the 1G Titan. I wonder, does the new 4WD on the 1/2T have an "AWD" mode?? That's one thing I would like on my Titan...AWD mode.

I can't say for sure if the 17 Titan chassis is completely different than the 1st gen but I will say after being beneath both of them, they look different.

No more finned cover on rear diff, frame beneath engine is different, additional support brackets etc. under the hood not many similarities at all, at least not visually.

 

Nobody has been underneath the non-XD Titan yet. The wheel base of the new 2017 non-XD Titan unveiled yesterday had 139.8" wheelbase. That was one of the only specs they gave us. The 151" is the 2016 XD TITAN. It shares chassis with Nissan NV van. It is very different from 1st Gen. Does not mean they didn't tweak the first gen chassis so 7speed may not fit in old one. But I imagine it wouldn't be too different.
