I got pulled over today for my tint. Usually I would roll down my windows as driving by a cop, but the guy came outa nowhere. WHAT AN ASSSHOLE COP though. im only 18 and he talked to me as if I was any other punk *** 18 year old, saying mommy and daddy pay for it all, and my ticket shouldnt be a problem. Thing is, is I pay for my truck, gas, and insurance alone, and now this ticket. Are tickets for tint just a common fix it, because id rather not take the tint off, and maybe just pay off the ticket?? Please respond because I have no idea

If you don't take it off, you run the risk of him pulling you over again.

Just pay the ticket. OC is a big area, the odds of him pulling you over again anytime soon are slim. You just had bad luck and got an officer in a foul mood. But of course he could get you tomorrow and he could be in a worse mood. Tint at your own risk!

I got a fix it ticket for my windshield tint being too far down from the top of the windshield because the cops little tint measurer deal (not sure what it's called) wouldn't work when he pulled me over, so he wrote me a ticket for the windshield and I just payed it rather than taking it off and haven't been pulled over since. *knock on wood*

It's just a fix it.
No big deal.
Just a little hassle.

My neighbor's superCamry (AKA elephant) got sideswiped by a motorcycle. He ate schit, and they gave her a window tint ticket.
She had to remove the dark stuff, and got some legal tint, and they just signed off the ticket.
So, you probably have to lighten it up.
That is a sharp looking truck.
Too bad.

anyone here going to the meet in san diego on thursday?
What meet?

They don't here either, unless they are looking for a reason to pull you over.

the laws may also be different

The laws are probably pretty similar, just around here in Southern Cal the officers usually don't give you a hard time about it, unless they're in a really pissy mood.

hhhmmmm... well, I can't recall how much the non-fixed fine for tinted windows in CA are nowadays, but I know it's not too cheap... figure, most tint places charge $50-$75 for a removal, then afterwards while you're being stopped by the same guy for "no mud flaps", you can have him sign off the ticket... after mailing it off with the admin fee, you can risk it again and retint them... probably might end up being less than paying the non-fixed fine, but not sure...

I know "fix-it" tickets here in NY are just....get it fixed within a few days, come back and show us it's fixed and the ticket is dropped. But I couldn't tell you what they do with tint. I don't see how they would just let you pay a ticket without seeing that you corrected the problem but every place is different. If you have tint and are ever stopped, especially at night, always open all windows and turn on all interior lights. cops don't have that nice warm fuzzy feeling walking up to a car they cant safely see into. Make them feel more comfortable by doing the above and they'l probably appreciate it.

Get the window tint redone and you don't have to worry about it again.

Think about this.

You get pulled over again and get even more upset and do or say something stupid which only gets you a ticket and makes you madder. If the officer was talking to you like that, he was goading you and you were taking the bait.

Your Titan looks good enough without matching tint on the window IMO.

walleeme that scares me because taking it off and on will suck. But that is also a completley different story, and depending if you live in CA or not, the laws may also be different
Umm,
Get ready.
And I am in Cali.
About 40 miles from you.

I live in LA county & heard that if you get ticketed for window tint, it is a fix-it ticket, but you have to remove the tint, have it verified that the tint is removed (by DMV), and you still have to pay the ticket. This may not be 100% accurate because it's what i've heard from someone else.

Not always the case, some places want to see your truck in person with tint removed. All depends where you got the ticket and their laws.
in my area, all we need to do is physically show an officer before they sign it off, pay a court administration fee (paperwork fee), otherwise you gotta pay the entire fine... the last time I knew anyone getting a tint ticket, about a year ago, it was around $300 by mail... needless to say, he quickly went and had his tint removed after receiving that notice...

Yea, I think thats what they do here, once its off can go to any officer for verification of removal. No Doubt cheaper to remove, then replace it at a latter date (if your feel'n frisky) then to pay that fine. If you leave it on and pay fine they know your still not in compliance which means they'll be sitting around the corner waiting for you, ticket book and pen in-hand. I hope posting to this thread isn't bad luck, I have tinted fronts. We have Good Police Officers here, they don't mess with ya unless you drive dangerously.
