alright seriously, ive tried superchips and bullydog... can anyone tell me if a programmer exists that can calibrate the speedometer for a lift and bigger tires AND give better fuel economy?.... kind of 2 opposing ideas with the bigger tires and better fuel economy i know haha... thanks so much guys!

Nope, no speedo calibration with any of the handheld programmers. :(

Right, they are vehicle-specific. The BD and Superchips units can do it for some makes and not others. The Titan falls under the "not others" category.

$189. :( I'd rather keep the money in my wallet and do the math in my head.

The BDGT does have a speedo display that can be adjusted. It doesn't change the factory speedo but that's an alternative and also provides tunes.

A 3rd option is a GPS as most units display your current speed on the main map screen. I just can't see spending $180+ to fix something that's trivial. Trivial to me anyway. :D

It would depend on how much the speedo error was on its value. Somethings are worth more to some than others. In most minor tire size changes the actual error turns out to be not near as bad as they believe. For 1-5 mphs it would be a little silly. For 5 mph and up i guess it might be a decent investment. This is my opinion only of course. Does that Hypertech speedo correction thingy do anything else at all????

I am looking at getting one and this is what I found.
Hypertech’s Speedometer Calibrator can correct the speedometer and odometer for tires up to 54 inches (depending on the application), and/or non-stock rear gear ratios. This new device is engineered for consumers that want the speedometer recalibration functions of the Max Energy Programmer without the additional expense of the other tuning features. The Speedometer Calibrator comes with a USB cable and a CD containing software to enable quick updates and upgrades over the internet. For an additional charge, the Speedometer Calibrator can be upgraded to a Max Energy Power Programmer via the internet to include all the Max Energy features available for that vehicle.

Be aware that even though your speedo might only be off by a small amount, it's not just the mph readout that is affected. When calibration is corrected it will also help with automatic trans. shift points and odometer readings. I have a 04' crew cab 4wd with a 7" CST lift with 35" tires and only see a 3 mph difference in mph. What's also obvious is that when going into overdrive even on flat ground on the freeway, my rpm's are way to low and have not really driven truck that much in overdrive because of this. The idea of overdrive is to get the rpm's down but when it's to low it can cause stress on trans. and more frequent down shifting / up shifting (kinda like someone trying to tow something with it in overdrive or going up a steep grade).
In my opinion it is more than a number that is off on your speedometer.

...even after adjusting the BD GT speed sensor by +4%, my dash speedometer did not change. By seeing this, I am led to believe that the adjustment made is only for the BD GT guage, decyphering the information received from the ECU. My GPS speed is right on with the displayed BD GT speeds after the 4% adjustment. I don't think the BD GT can adjust the ECU itself to "fix" the dash guage to reflect the actual speed... as for the tranny, the only time I actually have my shifter in D is when I'm getting on the highway or county roads, when the overdrive is beneficial. My around town driving is usually done with the shifter in 4, or with me manually shifting through the gears from 2 to 4.

well, reason i ask was because i was in the market for chips ie better fuel economy, and saw that some came with a speedo adjuster. i figured since i was going to pay for a chip/tuner anyway, why not have the option as well? also, i have noticed a vibration in my titan around 40-45 mph, and seems as if it wants to downshift, and almost as if the engine is lagging. after reading what kuecker was talking about with stress being put on the tranny, i was hoping it might solve this program. the vibration doesnt have anything to do with weight and balance of the lift, it drives fine with no creeks or vibrations on the highway, it seems this might be a programmable problem. also, i am sure that the newer tires are f'ing with the odometer, so maybe a tuner could fix the problem early on. thanks again for all your help guys!

as far as i know its two seperate things

It is two separate items. I have the Hypertech In-Line Speedometer Calibrator Module and it works like a charm, been running it for about 2 years now.

There is NO handheld programmer that will correct the speedo on the Titan.

All you did was set the BD GT display to show the correct speed your traveling, like my Scangauge II, it cannot correct the actual speedo.

Yes, Taller Tires will slow down the Odometer, Shorter Tires will speed up the Odometer. Example: Tall, speedo showing 50, actual speed is 55, Short speedo showing 60, actual speed is 55. Not this Extreme, but you get the picture.

Unless Hypertech or any other brand has Updated there Handheld's, they cannot correct the speedo for the Titan's.

Jet Performance Modules are a joke, they are a paperweight and nothing more. Anyone looking to buy something like that crap can just send me their money and I'll use it for something useful.........
