Ok i just started on this site i been looking at some posts for a while. I got a few questions i ran at the 1/4 last week and ran a 16.4. really slow but i was running on 22s. There was another titan w stock rims and only a flowmaster exhaust running 15.5. would the stock 18s make it that much quicker? Also i read some forums about the stillen plug n play. looked it up does anyone know how good it really is?

thanks, Josh

he could ahve had the big tow?

maybe he has the timing advance?

do you know for SUE thats all he had?

and YES the bigger the tires the slower you do.. not only is it more weight but its a rolling/moving momentum.. thats how on motorcycles/bicycles etc.. a fraction can actually make a huge difference

15.5 hp normal for a titan without a programmer. Stillen VK Pro module probably the last thing you want.
Uprev, bullydog, hypertech or superchip should be something to look into.
In that order too?

o yea i thought that it could have more hp. and the stillen chip says not to use with programmers right? or is that just some bs? I definitely wanna get a chip or programmer next i just want to be sure i get what will work best. any other suggestions for that?

Start with jba cat back so you can get rid of your s***y stock Y pipe. After, I would put on a decent CAI then if your serious get LT headers, HF cats, Uprev, and a Transgo shift kit. I have these mods and am running close to a 7 Sec flat 0-60 on 35" tires so it has really helped a lot.

Dude, I went to the track the other night and I was running 15.8 on 24's. completely stock except for exhaust.

Yea 08 compared to pre-07 models makes a huge different. Me and another member went to a meet and got dynoed 3 days ago. He had Headers, Uprev, Exhaust, 08 Intake manifold, and CAI and made 271 and me bone stone with a LWB model made 264. The VVT in an 08 will definitely change things up. I think your times are kinda slow for 22s, did you spin at all?

Man your buddy should have been in the 300 range with those mods I would be a little disappointed. I have heard 04-06 guys running those mods and putting down on average close to 320-330 rwhp.

Yeah I have seen pre-07 guys with those mods put down 320-335, I mean I put down 273/345 with basically intake, exhaust, and no cats w/ 20's on. Did Gweasel dyno with his 22's on?...Really, its not much of a difference between the 07+ and the 04-06. Maybe a tenth at best IMO. He really wasn't doing great either. In summer i ran 15.2 with only intake and timing advance, which would have been a high 14 in Winter. Yes big wheels makes a huge difference, thats the worst place for weight to hurt performance. Also, how much gas is in your tank, also, a lot of these trucks vary in weight, your truck could be 200 lbs heavier then him

I went to the track last week and my best time was a 16.02. This was my first time ever down a track and I spun the tires every time. My RT got a lot better (.6xx/1st run; .102 last run), but I kept spinning the tires. I know that my times will be A LOT better once I can stop spinning. Just practice I guess. Also, if I was serious about it I could take off the bull bar, side bars, spare tire, tailgate, and change back to stock tires instead of BFG AT's.

Some of the differences could be.... of course your larger rims. 06 vs 08 is def a factor since he has more hp and VVT. The weight of the tuck (crew cab vs king cab), 4wd vs 2wd (wot restriciton and weight) His exhaust with the 07 and up Y pipes is def better than a stock exhaust. He may have removed his spare tire, tailgate etc. He may have the big tow or off road gears which make it quicker too.

The Big tow gears will not make him faster in the 1/4 and if was a VVT, its still not a big difference like everyone thinks it is. I've raced with many 04-06 and 07+ guys. To be honest, even stock and with all differnet level of mods, you would not be able to tell a difference between 1/4 mile times. I'm guessing its basically your wheels and vehicle weight. Take my Crew Cab XE, it was lighter then all the other KC's we weighed at the track. My Crew Cab in base XE trim was 200lbs lighter then some of the other members KC's. One of the guys SE KC's was only 40 lbs heavier then me though. Not to mention, some trucks tend to run a little better then others

say what? They certainly can be a huge advantage at the drag strip.

the huge difference in your times coudl have been the difference in driver. experience at the strip helps a lot.

large wheels lowers your gear ratio, making yo slower out of th ehole, just the opposite of what the steeper big tow gears do, make you faster out of the hole

Yea I did spin but not very much and it was my first time w a truck also. And also had a full talk of cheap gas Idk how much that would effect it but I'm sure less better fuel would help. I also have a so called iat chip but I'm pretty sure it doesn't help prolly Cuz its cheap? It was 75.

Yea i spun a little but not much. I also had a full tank of cheap gas too im sure that slowed me down a little. Im gonna try stock rims and tires and less but better fuel next time. So I read about the uprev thing but still unsure as to what it is? Is it a programmer type thing or what. Also whats the deal with the stock y-pipe I mean y is it so terrible?

#23 ·
Real Iat? Iat is intake air temp. The best way to lower your IAT (intake air temp) is to buy a CAI, then do a ram-air mod. Put a 4" piece of pipe from the grill to the intake filter. If you want a tuner, then get a Bullydog, Superchips, Hypertech, or Uprev

Uprev is a company/program that tunes your ECU specifically to the items installed on your truck. In very basic terms that is. My opinion after reading many threads on here, unless you go to some type of headers, a handheld programmer like the bully dog or superchips is just as good.

The factory Y pipe for 04-06 is a "junction" for lack of a better word to get the pipes from the two rear cats down to one pipe to go into the muffler. it is very restrictive. Two things can help this:

1. Go with a catback system. This will replace all of the piping and muffler from your two rear cats(one on each side of the truck coming from the engine), back to your tailpipe. I went with Mangnaflow as I didn't want loud. My system goes from the two secondary cats using two seperate pipes into a dual in/single out muffler, and then out the side of the truck in the stock location. it eliminated the Y pipe altogether.

2. Replace the factory Y pipe with a flowmaster Y pipe, and then replace the stock muffler with a high flowing muffler. Lots of muffler choices out there that work well and have fans. To help with the next possible question, the longer in size it is, the quieter it is. Mine is 24" and sounds almost stock unless I'm at wide open throttle.

Basic example in the attachment. very basic that is.

But still, I don't see how he is running slower then me. I mean it was 100 degrees out, I was on 24's and stock. I just don't get it. I should be a lot slower then him.

did you have real fuel? I think having cheap fuel and a full tank of it killed me also i think my rims are hevier than they should b. Or maybe i was just doing something wrong? I dont get it either. and you also have an 08 which apparently is just a faster year.

But like 0five said, it shouldn't make that big of a deal that I have an 08. And no I was only running Brookshires 87.
