Why doesn't anyone know about transmission coolers?!

Here's my problem: I have 2008.5 Nissan Titan Crew Cab 4x4. It does not have the Nissan tow package. It does come with a transmission temperature gauge as well as the regular temperature gauge. I assume that this means the truck comes equipped with a transmission cooler. But no one can confirm this. No one! I've check with the dealer, their mechanics, and I've even written to Nissan about it. No answer, no how.

So I have two questions, and this forum seems to be my only hope for an answer:

1) Does my truck have a transmission cooler?

2) Why is it so damn hard to find out something so freaking basic?:redblob"

I am pretty sure all titans come with the tranmission cooler. In the early models the trans temp gauge only came with the tow package. It sounds like you need to find another dealer.

ALL Titans have a tranny cooler (and a Tow Mode button). If you have the temp gauge, you have the Tow Package, at least from my experience.

Do you have extendable tow mirrors? It would help to know which trim level also. Clarification is needed.

Beside the one that's built into the radiator.
There's one in front o the radiator.
To differentiate, I have included some pictures
1st - Aux transmission cooler behind condenser. fan

2nd - Oil cooler for engine oil under the truck.

3rd - Power steering cooler in front of the radiator driver's side

your 2nd transmission cooler is located, after it leaves the bottom of the engine radiator, between the engine radiator and the AC condenser. It is hidden behind the right (pass) side of the AC Condenser.

You must have the O/R package then if you have a tranny temp gauge but no extendable mirrors, or receiver hitch. Does your truck say 4x4 with "Off-Road" smaller under it? Or, does it say PRO-4X? WHAT TRIM LEVEL IS IT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

The Diagrams are sweet but if you look at the last picture its the steering rack. It has nothing to do with the transmission. That little cooler (in front of the condensor) is the POWER STEERING COOLER. Which cools the POWER STEERING FLUID. If that is not the POWER STEERING COOLER please show me a diagram of the power steering/rack system drawing.

I know the last picture is the power steering cooler. I added the pictures so you can see that the Titan has two tranny cooler in addition to the power steering cooler and and oil cooler (engine oil). For me to take a picture of the AUX tranny cooler I would need to remove my condenser fan. Let me see if I can find something.

EDIT: just took these
1st picture, passenger side between the radiator and condenser fan is your AUX A/T cooler. THe arrow point to the line going in to it.

2nd picture is a shot from above, kinda hard to see.

3rd picture is the power steering cooler on the drivers' side in front of the radiator. This one has nothing to do with the A/T.

I Think BBF is trying to say that the two trany coolers are the radiator and the external cooler mounted in front of the radiator. That's all we have for cooling the trany.

I don't understand the confusion. How can anyone miss the external tranny cooler? It's not hidden behind anything...it's right up front to the right of the NISSAN emblem. All Titans have that one plus the the normal internal one in the radiator. And I don't know about 08.5s, but 08s had to have the tow package to have the tranny temp guage. For 09, there is no tow package...it's the MU package which doesn't mention the guage so it must be standard on the 09s.

If one is standing in front of the Titan, the cooler to the right is the power steering cooler (post #16 - 3rd picture show power steering cooler). To the left behind the condenser fan is the AUX tranny cooler.

The AUX tranny cooler cannot be easily seen since it's behind the condenser fan.

Shoot me...sorry. I guess it is kinda small..lol. But how can anyone get on this forum and need to ask such a question when a simply search would have told them that ALL these trucks have the tranny coolers. It's like asking "whats in the tow package" or "do i have the tow package". Do we need to point out the steering wheel? Makes you wonder about who's driving along side of you! Scary.
Thanks to you, I have no reply....:hi:

Ahh yess, the infamous transmission cooler. Keep an eye out for leaking lines. It'll make a mess. If they do start leaking, don't bother with the dealer, it took 3 tries for them to fix/diagnose my problem. Simply replace the OEM clamps with regular hose clamps and you'll be good to go!

See attached.

54, thanks for highlights in the picture! I've read your other threads where you were diagnosing and solving this problem but I didn't have a clear understanding of where the lines were that needed new clamps.

Well, thanks to all who contributed to this thread. It's unfortunate that I was unable to simply drive back to the dealer and ask about this, but as I said earlier, they sell Fords and Nissans are an afterthought. It's also unfortunate that Nissan did not respond to my letters, which was why I turned this whole thing over to this forum.
Boy, it seems there are a lot of variations in trim line, standard features, etc. across the country on the Titan.
I have no mechanical skills, and I obviously don't have much of a knowledge base about vehicles, but I know I love this Titan. That's why I came to this forum in the first place. I appreciate the expertise from everyone, and I apologize if I wasted anybody's time and digital cyberspace.
