Good rule of thumb is to check them every few oil changes. At $20 a pop, its not terrible if they need replacing

Dealer is every 15k, and that's what I would rec if under normal use. If you go on the dirt trails a lot or live in a dusty area I say a little sooner maybe every 10-12k. Some people remove them all together for better AC flow, but if you look at what that filter traps. No thanks, I'll just change them every so often.
Removing it for more flow is about the worst idea I have heard. The evaporator will plug up with all the crap and then it will stop blowing as well and not cool as well. I have pictures I can post when I get home tonight of a 70K mile evaporator out of a 1997 Chevy Express van that was so loaded with junk I couldn't even pressure blast out the gunk to make it work properly again. If your truck is a base model, I highly suggest buying the filters and installing them. Even the 2012 base trucks ship without them.

Quick question, i have an SV, the owners manual says only the SE has cab filters. Im seeing some posts that lead me to believe that i just dont have them, but i have the set up. Is this right?

Here is what I get out of the accessory catelog...Keep in mind the setup is the same and to my knowledge ALL Titans can have a cabin filter in the box. On 2012s it looks like you have a cabin filter if you are not a S-trim Crew Cab or a King Cab. Seems those were shipped without a filter. SV Crew Cab should have a filter in the housing.

I attached a screen shot of the 2012 Nissan accessory catelog listing for the Titan.

It literally takes less than 10 minutes to check or change the filters. If you don't have them you should install them. If you do, replacement filters are less than $20. I replace them every spring because my AC runs nonstop from about March through November.

Changed mine today like Quartz said 10 minutes to change. It was less time because my 04 didn't have any filters in it to begin with.

This I know. Hence the link I posted of what I actually bought :D

Purchased a pair of Fram filters ([ame]http://www.amazon.com/CF10388-Fresh-Breeze-Cabin-Filter/dp/B001CEG98A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328666381&sr=8-1[/ame]) for $19 and installed them tonight. Just a note, I have a 2009 SE and I had to take 6 screws off (4 above the glove box, 2 below) and take the entire compartment off due to more plastic inside the box covering the air box.

Surprisingly, there were no filters already inside my truck. Is this a normal thing for Nissan not to include in the purchase of a brand new truck? They will be getting some feedback from me tomorrow. I wonder what else they decided to leave out of my truck!

Wow, 6 screws? I just had 2 which opened up the end. I would assume it's because people might have been complaining about the A/C-Heater not blowing very hard. I know when I installed my filters, I noticed a big decrease in pressure. But it's well worth it for a clean dash , plus remote start keeps it kool or warm before I get in. :bouncy:

Airflow arrows should point down.

Apparently the 2011's don't come with filters either!!!

I've read arrows up and arrows down on here, which is it????

Arrows go down. At least when I replaced mine, they were down, and I installed them back down.

Someone actually made a YouTube video of this...

Sorry Quarts. Didn't mean to step on your toes. Mine where installed down when I replaced the, last year, and the video says down, so I'm going with down, but looking at the filter, I really don't think it matters.

Arrows go down on the 2011. I bought filters (my truck had none either) put them in facing down. I pulled the filter a week later to find small bugs on the top side of the filter. The bottom was clean indicating a downward flow of air. I was told that the filter will have a name (Nissan, Fram...etc) along with the arrows. With the filters installed so the name can be read upright, the arrows should be pointng downward at that point.

Every one of you is correct and I'm a bonehead. You can even see the arrows in the pics in my original post. I have corrected my idiot advice i posted earlier.

Just got finished installing my CAF...my 09 didn't have any. I did the 6 screw method and still only took 4 minutes.
